Guys, need to convince my wife on the power usage of 50v. I love this 50v to max but she prefers LED lit TVs cause her main concern is power. On this website's review (http://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.php?subaction=showfull&id=1279623234) it says about 200w and in Pana's website, it says 415 W. May i know which is more accurate? When i went to HomeDec and the Panasonic seller said the power consumption for plasma is not that bad cause the blacks on plasma does not emit any energy (thus, no electric usage). Only color-ed ones will. For LCD/LED, be it black or other colours, it will emit colours (thus, electric). from what i see, LED takes about 100-120w. If what Pana's website mentioned is true, then it is like 3-4 times the amount, which is crazily alot. hope you guys can enlighten me on this. Thanks.

IMHO , i think it's quite true that plasma power consumption's a lot more than L.E.D.. U can feel the heat emitting from it juz by standing right next to it, sweat.gif where as LED , less heat emitted. If u really like the 50V so much , buy ur wife a power saver adaptor ,hehe.. Saves up to 40% i heard after installing it.

Where can i find this power saver adaptor? Might be handy

the heat is not a lot more than a large LCD. maybe 20-30% more compared similar LCD size. for the power consumption, well you're paying for the picture quality. if you don't mind spending a portion of your electricity bill for air-conditioning, the extra you're paying for plasma (compared to similar size LED) is well worth it.

kindda hard to convince the home minister to go for plasma just by demo-ing in the showroom as LED have a clear advantage in bright showroom conditions.

Home Minister likes Samsung 6 series LED lit LCD. I prefer Plasma by miles sad.gif

ya...what the seller said is true...for Plasma, the power consumption is more when there is a illumination, whereas for LCD/LED(edge), the backlight is always on, thus the power consumption is more or less the same thoughout the unit operation.

The main difference is the PQ. A lot of people choose plasma because of the PQ/Color. Averagely, i would believe 200W is the average consumption for 50V20k. When i checked my sis's 42PY800, which she bought 2 years ago, it rated 475W. Unless we watch movies/documentary that never take night/darks scenes, the 415W might be true.

BTW, if TNB charges RM0.30 for a unit (1kW/h), with 415W tag, it will cost us RM0.13/hr, that will be RM1/day for 8 hrs usage, if my maths are right.... blush.gif

yes Bro. I will choose Plasma over LED Lit anytime of the day. the black levelsssss...arghhhhh.. normal LCD is totally out of consideration. Her concern is pretty much on the bills
