Try to leave your decoder in stand by for a while. Coz Astro is doing updates to the decoders now and if you don't leave it on stand by, that could make you lose some of the channels.

Anybody did realignment before? I wonder how much do they charge. Coz my parents house had Astro for 11 years now. Subscribed back when Astro had World Package for less than RM55. There are even molds on the dish outside, although signal strength still at 78.

Hmmm...last I had this problem when I was staying in my old house. Subscribed to two accounts (primary n secondary). I was using the T-connector for the split cables. Calling Astro was no help so I decided to look into the problem myself. Left no option out including inspecting the T connector as well as where the cables were terminated. Bought a new T connector and did new terminations and Voila! problem gone! rclxms.gif

Check your Astro decoder signal strength. If signal is ok, then most probably your decoder firmware not up to date. Sometime Astro changed the channel carrier to different transpoder for the load balancing. So, if your decoder don't have updated information, it won't be able to receive the channel. So, put your decoder to standby mode when not in use to get have the latest firmware. That's just my guess.

CHECKLIST

1]If u got a surge protector.Remove the surge protector and try a direct hook up,Cause normally when u buy a surge protector it comes with a cable for u to hook up from then surge protector to the decoder. Those cable usually it not up to spec eg:3C2v cable,5C2v or rg59 coaxial cable.

1a]Try download your services.
1b]If your signal strenght is in yellow all the time its the decoder.Normally its the nokia and thomson decoder which have this kind of problems.
1c]If your sattelite signal shows red and sometimes green the line of sight is block.Check for trees and recently install astro sattelite dish above u.should be more or less 75++ degrees
1d]Your dish alignment is out although this rarely happens.

HIGH RISE[Centralised SYSTEM = SMATV

2]If u live in high rise which uses centralised system = [plug to wall socket] Contact your management.Ask for in house
astro contracter. If u renovated your original SMATV[Tv outlet that connects from the wall to your decoder and tv]
Chances are or i might say most of the time about 80% i enconter is the connection problem. The connection from the original point and to your extended point is not correctly terminated. Not using F-type connectors and joint.Usually your wireman contractor will just simply twist and wrap the both cable together. These signal cable carried bandwidth
if u twist the centre core. The signal will leak out and interfere with your other devices such as mobile phone.Fixed line
cordless phone and in bad situation u will not received certain channels or u might not received any channels at all!
CHECK your cable also the SHEILD SHOULD NOT TOUCH THE CENTRE CORE.
http://www.wikihow.com/Connect-Coaxial-Cable-Connectors.
the website shows a N type connectors but we usually use a F type connectors which we twist in to the cable.

IF ALL THOSE ABOVE STEPS FAILED they u should call 1300-82-3838 for assistance.NEVER CALL PHONE NUMBERS FROM STICKERS OR LAMP POST.Even thought i'm a installer we are forbid to advertised throught that.U will never know who came and fix for u.There a cases of robbery and and decoder robbery, ahaha yup they come to your house say its the decoder faulty, take it back and never return. So why take the risk?

To save yourself some money, try the following;

1. Reboot the decoder and rescan the channel list
2. Check the white cable, from the back of the decoder up to the dish. Look out for any cracked, wear and tear.
3. Check the LNB, quite likely need a replacement.
4. Probably need re-align the dish.

Cheers!

T connectors are not usable for astro signal splitting unit.Because T connector are not directional splitters.Sooner or later it will spoilt again, cause the signal carries from your dish to your decoders are varied from the T end.Meaning decoder A will get 70% and B will get 30%.This is not good cause the 13V dc from the decoders will go from 1 end to another without direction.Meaning if u put your decoder for long time the F connectors at the decoders there will heat up.

U should should spiltters instead and the range should be at 2300Mhz either 5-2300Mhz or 47-2300Mhz

If u can received signal from the decoder itself meaning there is no need to align the dish.
press menu on ur remote.Go to installation setup.select Auto Update and leave the decoder to update itself
OR switch off mains and power up again let is run auto update by itself.

Well i doubt they are authorised installer. They wearing astro installer T shirt does not mean they are authorised installers.U MUST ALWAYS INSIST ON THEIR TAG.Astro always shows on their advertisment that u should do that.
U see the main problem is there are alot of outsiders mainly from electrical shops doing installations of astro.WE PAY ASTRO YEARLY FOR LICENSE FEE And for training and updates weekly and monthly.

U can criticised me and say HOW HARD IS THAT TO FIX ASTRO? yah i know just follow watever your neightbour direction is then turn to that, turn on your tv and put volume to max, when u hear the "tut tut" sound and is in green colour your done.THIS IS A VERY WRONG PERCEPTION to our work and i would like to clear THIS once and for all.
WE DONT ADJUST BLINDY we all have signal strength meter so we can adjust the sat dish to maximum. So to minimize the effect of RAIN FADE AND maximize your viewing pleasure. Those illegal installers dont have it and dont know how to do it.Getting 70-80 and sometimes 90++ and green colour bar on your decoder sat signal does not mean u have a very good signal!.They just ADD a passive booster/Line amplifier will instantly boost your signal to 18++ dB.Noice Carried Is still the Same!!u can check back to a post posted by AstInst he will confirm this.

IF its really done by an Astro authorised installer just email me any particulars of him,and i would gladly ask for his termination of license.
