It depends on the IP you're getting.

Here in Kajang, IP other than 60.48 crawls like hell. Can't say for latency or packet loss though but speed is good.

Please note these are 2 different incidents.
The previous one was between Alexandria in Egypt and Palermo in Italy.
The current one is the Colombo – Mumbai segment.

hey guy... i wanna ask...

last 2 days which is Sunday and Monday... i dunno today.. not at home now... my line is very bad cant get it connect... and the DSL keep blinking... when i check my modem system log i got to know my IP address is keep connecting to 115.xxx.xx.xx... Usually my IP is connected at from range 60.48.xx.xx to 60.50.xx.xx what is going on? I cant get back my old IP already.

Oh btw... i went to TM point last Saturday just upgrade to Combo 4mbps from 512kbps and now still waiting for technician to come. In the meantime, is that (the upgrading process) cause it to happen and i cant connect to the internet now at all with my current 512kbps speed?

please... tell me why?

This seems to be a fairly new IP range. Are you in an area covered by Unifi? I think this range may have appeared when Unifi started.

This range has a problem accessing TM''s newsgroups. I have reported this but so far no action. Could you please see if you can access news.tm.net.my with this range?

I think TM is re-shuffling the IP ranges around to different areas. I used to get 60, 115, 118 but now am seeing 175 and 110 also.

Even in trace routes, the 2nd external hop shows a 60 IP. Those all used to be mostly 219 range previously.

Hmm...it seems that I'm not the only 1 not that I'm happy about it but that also means that this sh*t is getting out of hand.I can understand about SMW4's arduous repair tasks but taking the advantage to doodle around locally aren't exactly funny.I got back home late last night after 12 when the other 2 web surfers at my home complained about something went haywire.Double checked my router's page yup there's that ominous "PPP down" status and yet the gateway's assigned and user auth OK at every reboot attempt.Everything else were in order.DSL detected and solid LED,not blinking.

I gave it time and decided to deal about it 1st thing this morning but then after I hit the sack I couldn't sleep and just gave it a go at 4am.Seeing that there's no change I called 100 there and then.Told the female staff about the situation and I summarized the convo to get me a report num.Her deduction was that it was my line but I stressed that that wasn't really logical since I'm getting familiar "NORMAL" figures on my router's sys log and it doesn't make sense when it's only the PPP server that seems to be problematic.Of course she asked if anyone's available today and to that I told her that I still want to hold on to the report num and they should try to reach me on my cell as per already detailed on their end and it's ridiculous to assume if anyone would have had to take this day off just to wait for the tech dude.Alas a few hours ago the tech dude called me anyway and I told him that I'm OFFsite and that I would check back went I get home.If the issue didn't improve I'd call 100 again. So the dude hung up.

I got some spare time at lunch so here I am and yes odd enough it seems to be OK but it's still noticeably unstable.I'll give it till tonite after I get back and if it's still crapping then for damn sure it's time to level up the report.Obviously this is a new circus that we users were ninja invited.

And yes before this I'm tied to just 115.x.x and have seen 124.x and 175.x

i have been monitor how they handle our connectivity since south taiwan earthquake until now. everytime underwater sea cable broke down. telekom always taking chance doing something on they network until everything screw up. every problem appear they will blame on faulty sea cable. lies or deny only the reason they have.

the real problem is u company re route our ip and lock down the user ip to Core ip Development network. before of that we manage to connect randomly access to 110/118/124/60 ip and now u lock us 110/118/115 ip and some user lock to 60. not all user phone line are connect smoothly to ur that ip range. imagine during peak hour all stuck together. another thing is i hear something about ur contractor say cutting down the voltage under ur telephone service.

So please, no more blaming on the underwater cables, its unfair to the wires cry.gif
But speed today is just as slow as yesterday and the day before. I have never dail 100, to complain on slow speed, but it came to an unbearable point. So i called, they insist that i give them the reading on their in-house "Speedometer", which is the maximum fastest jaw dropping speed i've ever had the privilege to use hmm.gif, i told them the truth. Their verdict: i've no problem with my connection, therefore no physical line checking will be done. In other words, still stuck will Endless slow speed. sad.gif

I don't want to complain on anything or anyone, just give me the speed i've paid for. Is this unreasonable?

".......repair works on site on Saturday, 24 April 2010 and it is expected to be completed on Sunday, 2 May 2010."

Now they change it to this:

".......The consortium will be carrying out repair works on site on Sunday, 23 May 2010."

Your info is regarding an old cable proble.

For your info, the cable has problems in another area now. Work has begun on 23rd May but there are complications and now it is reported to be completed by 31st May.

QUOTE
Dhaka, May 23 (bdnews24.com) – Bangladesh is set to experience problematic internet connection as repair work began on its fibre optic backbone on Sunday.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Ltd public relations officer Mir Mohammed Morshed told bdnews24.com: "The interruption has started after the arrival of a ship to repair the cable."

"It will be fixed by May 31."

Due to prior information about maintenance, users of BTCL and several other internet providers were better prepared to handle the problem.

But clients of some internet service providers (ISPs) might face interruptions, Morshed said.

The work is underway at a connection point of the trans-national SEA-ME-WE 4 submarine cable in the Indian Ocean near Sri Lanka.

The optical fibre line connects Bangladesh to the information superhighway and serves as the backbone of international communication, while satellite services act as backup with limited bandwidth.

During the repair, Bangladesh will conduct its international communication via Singapore.

The cable faults are real... not only we were slowin down. You can go to Singapore forum, Indonesia forum, Australia forums etc etc. Their users were reporting similar conditions with us actually.

The IP problem, yes they have quite a lot of work to do with their IP system. I'm locked into 124.62 and 218.111 ... the performance difference between 124 and 218 is quite huge at times...

Cutting down voltage of your line will help in improving the "Crosstalk" (Google Crosstalk if you dont understand what it is) Basically, when your voltage is TOO high, you might be able to hear your neighbor's phone line, and your DSL modem might also receive high frequency signals from those around you. Lowering the voltage to a suitable value solves this problem.
