To make the cable "look expensive" still cost money.. so if it look "10 time" more expensive.. its still money well spent. rclxms.gif
Also depend on the eyes of the beholder of the perception of the "10 time" more expensive look... rclxm9.gif

QUOTE(DigitalTech @ Mar 20 2010, 12:00 PM)
If you buy from an authorised reseller or reputable online trader (based on customer feedbacks), very high chances is you will get the real thing.

Why would one seller jeopardise their reputation and credibility for 1 or 2 fake cables?

I'm in this business for a while and I monitor closely on the happenings in the market.

Counterfeits cable cannot copy exactly the same specs and quality as the original.

They can only copy closely comestically in appearence. But inside the wire are sub standard and even may rust overtime, who knows?

With such a low cost and mass produce, you can expect very low quality cables from it.

This also applies to al-cheapo (brandless) cables.

If I am not wrong, in the Monster Cable website, the statement is to get cable from their Authorised Dealer; for example Amazon or local authorised reseller...

There are a list of so-called Black List seller, but notice "DigitalTech" not on it. Maybe "DigitalTech" can get Monster Cable to give it an Authorised Dealer status, think this will wipe the doubt off everybody mind....

Meantime maybe its better not to say the other cable seller are selling fake, or else I will get "blacklisted" from Monster and hated by the local seller that sell this model...

Finally; maybe some seller are willing to sell at cheaper price for promotion and marketing purposes... so also not fair to say their are selling fake.. but also maybe its fake but how to check? Maybe some experience seller can devise a way... in fact I have one M1000HD purchased in 2008.. now scared if its a fake.. but how to test?
