I came across some China website about Monster counterfeit cables (M2000 & M1000 HDMI) selling at USD10-20 only per piece.

Ebay, lelong, and even LYN are selling it for RM150-RM180. They are making whopping RM100 per piece on fake Monster cables.

This is the website I found: http://www.gingdom.com/goods-228.html

You also can google it and you can find a lot of China factories are mass producing it.

Even now the new Dr Dre Beats Monster headphones are copied and mass produced.

You can also find a warning message on Monster official websites.

Just beware.

Bro, comparing Harvey Norman prices and other retail prices, the Monster cable sold in LYN is more likely less than 45% of or half-price i would say.

I've also encountered people selling in Mudah.my for below RM200. So are these cables fake as well?

How do you consider cables are fake? Even fake cables function as genuine rite?

I've also seen Monster cables sold in SQ at very unbelievable cut-throat price. Probably you're the best person to answer since your selling the cables for almost 60% off.

Not having a go at you alright, just concern and want to clear doubt.. whistling.gif

The Monster cables I'm getting are directly from US. It's a factory closeouts and wholesaler stocks. Absolutely genuine.

That's the reason why, I don't carry the latest Monster cable models, as it's not yet a closeouts stocks.

Monster cable in local retails are absolutely overpriced, even the same model I am carrying. Their overheads are greater as most of them operate in big shopping complex and with big workforce. I only trade online and minimal overheads. That's where I can lower down my price.

If you ask me, paying so much for fakes, might as well get al-cheapo cable for a fraction of the price, right? It's about the same quality.

The 2 models which is the high risk of counterfeits are M2000 & M1000 HDMI. I did communicate with those China wholesalers, and they admit it's high grade copy of the cables. If you order in bigger bulks, they can even lower the price more. Imagine they sell @ USD19 for M2000 HDMI cable and still make profit. So you can figure more or less their cost for each cable.

Price does not completely determine the genuinity of the cable. Just judge yourself by the seller reputation, price and past customer's records. It will give you an indication and make that decision for youself. If the seller only sell M1000/M2000 HDMI cable, then you need to becareful.

I've been trading Monster cables since 2008. You can read my customer's testimonials and number of cables on sale.
I list down all my customer's id in my threads, so that you can directly pm them for feedback.

Oh no no, i just wanted your opinion on fake cables & genuine ones, not that im accusing that you're selling the fake ones..

I know you're pioneer seller here. No doubt about that.

I just wanted your thoughts on overpriced retail price Monster items compared to those fake cables. How does people not aware that its fake?

It resembles?

Basically, just beware of seller who only sells the 2 high risk cables. If the seller can get that cable so cheap, why not bring in more models, right?

I'm sure you can tell a fake from the real stuff if you look into the built and details of the cable.

But, seriously, it is almost impossible to buy a M2000HD for less than RM200.

M2000HD HDMI cable is a brand new model and it's the highest premium HDMI cable you can get from Monster.

I've seen something called  "Designed in USA" . "Assembled in China". On the Monster1000HD box case. DigitalTech , probably you can clarify the matter.

Is this because China labour cost less than labour cost in USA or US does not have an assembling process team..
*
Everybody knows China labour is cheap. Most big brands like Nike, adidas, iphone, ipod and even Monster cables are made in China.
That does not mean it's fake. It's licensed under Monster but manufacturer in China.

All I say it's to avoid the high risk models altogether to be safe, that is the M2000HD & M1000HD HDMI cables by Monster.

Another thing to take note, is not to buy cables without original retail packaging.

If suddenly so many sellers in ebay, lelong, LYN selling M2000HD/M1000HD cables, this is an indication that there's mass supply from somewhere with amazing price. Ask yourself this, where do all of them got the stock from? Very likely it's counterfeits.

m also very scared of kena cheated but I am very confused... so if we cannot say cheap stocks are fake, and fake stocks areĀ  cheap... then when I see a cheap stock, how should I evaluate??.... again, look at "high risk model"... what is high risk model? those models identified by "ori seller"?... also, does it mean that when people are making fake product, they purposely choose product that will be identified by ori seller??... also, if I m making fake product for a brand, even though it is more beneficial to make the same model (economy of scale), I think the cost of producing model A is not that significantly different from producing model B right... especially cables... nowadays in pasar malam we can see all sorts of different model of the same sports brand leh, so how to identify which model is high risk and which not... also, it does not mean that big brand retail outlet would not sell fake goods, so how should I determine which ori seller is not selling fake goods leh... oh..whatever it may be, since I really cannot see a difference in picture quality between those of monoprice and monster... may be no need to crack my brain and just buy from monoprice... smile.gif

If you buy from an authorised reseller or reputable online trader (based on customer feedbacks), very high chances is you will get the real thing.

Why would one seller jeopardise their reputation and credibility for 1 or 2 fake cables?

I'm in this business for a while and I monitor closely on the happenings in the market.

Counterfeits cable cannot copy exactly the same specs and quality as the original.

They can only copy closely comestically in appearence. But inside the wire are sub standard and even may rust overtime, who knows?

With such a low cost and mass produce, you can expect very low quality cables from it.

This also applies to al-cheapo (brandless) cables.

If I am not wrong, in the Monster Cable website, the statement is to get cable from their Authorised Dealer; for example Amazon or local authorised reseller...

There are a list of so-called Black List seller, but notice "DigitalTech" not on it. Maybe "DigitalTech" can get Monster Cable to give it an Authorised Dealer status, think this will wipe the doubt off everybody mind....

Meantime maybe its better not to say the other cable seller are selling fake, or else I will get "blacklisted" from Monster and hated by the local seller that sell this model...

Finally; maybe some seller are willing to sell at cheaper price for promotion and marketing purposes... so also not fair to say their are selling fake.. but also maybe its fake but how to check? Maybe some experience seller can devise a way... in fact I have one M1000HD purchased in 2008.. now scared if its a fake.. but how to test?

I think you got my intentions wrongly. I am not accusing anybody selling fake Monster cables.

I derived the conclusion that low priced M2000HD/M1000HD HDMI cables maybe fake by communicating with the China counterfeit supplier which I posted in the 1st post and they admit that it's high grade copy cables. They even told me they are mass producing and in high demand including ebay seller in US.

I can easily order from this counterfeit supplier and sell it as genuine if I want to. But I chose to disclose this fact to all of you.

You judge yourself.
