Correct, D90's default JPEG compression rate is like 80 only instead of doing 100. So I usually shoot RAW, then convert to JPEG. It looks better that way for me .

The downside of that Nikkor is lack of VR .

Not everyone can do that, I can shoot at 1/10 at even 85mm, but not consistent ~_~. Its like out of a few shots only 1 or 2 is good.
