on your media player remote control, pressing "TV system" will cycle through all the available modes, the current selected mode will be displayed on the screen as well

can anyone tell me how to tell whether HDMI cable 1.3 or 1.4?
*
HDMI v1.4 spec added 100Mbps Ethernet Channel, so if your interconnecting devices can access internet through HDMI cable, then it is v1.4 spec cable

digital audio from player to AVR is digital data transmission, volume can only be adjusted by the AVR, this is by design

by definition, "pass through" means that the signal must be preserved to the original, it can not be altered

Yangxi is definitely one of the very few trustable sellers in online dealing. Also speedy service.....

I have given away my HDPRO+ to my family member and now waiting for new 1055 model with recording function.....A bit tempted by HDPRO R1055 but feel the function limited. Any feedback from users who already bought?

Yangxi please hurry up and get the new model.....CNY is coming soon and my entertainment is relying on you!!

realtek 1055 chipset has no recording function, you would need either new 1185 or old 1283 for recording fuction, will not be cheap though

Thanks for the explanation.

But still, isn't it that I could still plug in a HDMI cable into my laptop and HDTV and play the movie? Or these media player could make the video clearer and smoother compare to using a laptop connected to it.

Btw, does it play pps as well?
compare to media player, laptop is more expensive, no remote control

the electric zap is due to current leakage from high frequency switch-mode power supply, read a preview article from this magazine
http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_107106/article.html

to prevent further zap from these double-insulated casing, the magazine suggests to earth the case via a mains rated capacitor down to the mains earth
