Phone reception on the HTC Legend is not good. Also HTC Legend runs Android 2.1 but does not support Live Wallpaper like HTC Desire or Google Nexus One. For those who wish to upgrade their OS in time to come to support new features in Android 2.2 (Froyo), then forget about HTC Legend. Its not worth buying in my opinion.

Oh ya...a few more things wrong with this phone.
THe Aluminium body is prone to scratches and getting chipped off if you put them together with your keys, instance. Without a protective casing, this phone will be full of scratches if one is not careful. Also the phone slips off your hands very easily due to the casing. Aside from not having Live Wallpaper ( you will notice you cannot install them into your phone), WIFI is weak...possibly also due to the Aluminium casing I believe. Plus, HTC Sync for the HTC Legend is also flaky. Not sure why, But this could be a problem with the HTC sync software running on the PC, most likely.
Also no video call camera and battery only lasts 1 day of usage. And I heard that HTC Legend will most likely have to wait a long time before it gets the Android 2.2 (Froyo) upgrade which is full of goodies and performance improvements.

While most of the things you pointed out do make sense because they are indeed the weaker aspects of the Legend to some people (FYI, I can live with those shortcomings), I'm however surprised that you highlighted the bold text though -- no video call camera.

Seriously dude, unless you've done absolutely no research whatsoever before purchasing, you should have known this already. Unlike some of the things that you probably would not know without some hindsights (i.e. not knowing Froyo will be released extemely late to the Legend), things like not having a front camera for video call are stated CLEARLY on the spec sheet.

For a phone as bad as the Legend, I would voluntarily purchase it off you for RM50 to save you from all the agony. Let me know.

HAHA.... wow, I really got a kick out of seeing you guys getting all your panties twisted up in knots becos of my comments on the HTC legend. Luckily, there's such a thing called freedom to express one's own opinion. And thanks so much for expressing each of your very entertaining comments too smile.gif

For the record though -

1) The bold on the "no video call camera" must have been a glitch when I was typing...didnt mean to bold it actually smile.gif I was fully aware of the lack of video call camera when I bought it.

2) Like I said - the reception and wifi signals for me is weaker than other PDA phones I've used - and I read from the net is possibly due to the aluminium casing.

3) And I heard that HTC Legend will most likely have to wait a long time before it gets the Android 2.2 (Froyo) upgrade which is full of goodies and performance improvements....this time I'm deliberately bolding it so that you guys can read clearly that I never said Froyo wasn't coming to Legend...just that it (may) be a long wait before we see it happen.

4) I did mention that HTC Sync problem was probably due to the HTC Sync software running on the PC.

5) And I did mention that a protective casing is needed to prevent scratches.

And for those who offered to buy it for RM50 or 100, thanks but no thanks....I'll live with the agony of using this wonderfully hip looking android phone smile.gif

For those of you who love your Legend....heck, if it satisfies your requirements, then good for you! smile.gif

Lastly, I just want to say - I respect all your opinions, so please respect mine.

If you have things (good or bad) to share about this phone, lets hear them!

so feeling the heat and start backpedalling now, eh?

since you put them into points, let see
1) your own reading/typing mistake
2) have you updated to 1.31.707.3? It's OTA.
3) you heard, okkayy.... Desire is also on Android 2.1. Lets see how long Desire and Legend has to wait for 2.2
4) blame it on HTC software for all HTC model, not Legend specifically.
5) N1 and all phones in this world need protective casing to prevent scratches. your point is?

Can you please raise more relevant issues for Legend? I want my Legend to perform better.
But if this is the only issues you can raise, I felt really dumb for having my time spend this way.
*
LOL....well, if u felt dumb spending your time this way(and taking the time to respond to each point I made), then why bother in the first place? And for all the time spent responding to my post, you can't even come up with your own opinions about the phone....felt dumb , did you say? tongue.gif

Does this phone needs to have broadband package like Iphone and Blackberry?

Can it use like Symbian phone so I don't need to spend extra cost for the data plan (eg bis...)
*
To answer your question directly, YES, its pretty similiar to Iphone/BlackBerry in the way that Android phones have the Android Market where you can download heaps of free/paid Android software. So you're better off with a data plan if you want access to the Android Market. Without a data plan, the alternative is to use WIFI-enabled internet access.

hi... not sure if u guys brought this up b4... but seems the Legend does not have the Voice Recognizer with it? is there any way to enable it? or absolutely not due to it being part of the firmware? notice the lack of this feature when trying to use the Search w/o mic or appz like TalkToMe... any comments? found this one tho -> cyanogenMod...but need to root the phone first ...haiz...

I managed to enabled Voice search on my Legend and it works great. I just installed Google Voice from Android Market. You can also make use of the VoiceToText capability together with HandCent SMS ( need to enabled under Speech settings); thereby allowing your HTC Legend to capture your voice message and translate it to text and then all you need to do is to press the [SEND] button to send off your SMS. Its not perfect, but works great for sending simple messages while you're driving (for instance).
