Checking In on a beautiful Sunday morning.

Just pray the Sun is as bright on Monday

Good luck to all.

Added on March 7, 2010, 10:00 am" If u add back the "one time" IPO cost, its profit did not drop much. That is the 'normal' profit it should have made"

If you talking about on how to reconcile back the accounts, I would 100% agree with you.

For all new IPOs except Maxis ( under Relisting ) :-

These IPOs ( companies per se ) would have gained tonne of cashflow ( could in in billions ) through new shares issued and build up their Reserve called Share Premium account by Billions. Whether money used to repay loans borrowed is another story.

And this process benefits Big and small fish equally.

But in the case of Maxis , the above are totally absent, only " IPO" Costs are well taken care of by Maxis.

One very odd accounting treatment is shares issued ( or rather sold by existing big fish /shareholders ) at RM 4.75 to small fish is considered a loss to Maxis ( valued at rm 5 ? )

How can it be since the par value of Maxis is only 10sen per share, and IF NEW share issued at price of rm 4.75 ? Under normal circumstances, Maxis would have built a Share Premium Account by Biillons ( rm 4.65 X numbers of new shares issued )

How can Maxis undertake the "loss" incurred by big fish , Binariang and partners for rm 53m ?

First time I know of such accounting practice. Leeway accounting perhaps.

Fair or unfair, shareholders to decide.

Aiya, world never fair.

Some company management that making dodgy decision that lead to problematic and risk of bring down the company, but still can getting millions of salary and bonus while shareholders or public (like financial crisis) need to bare the consequences.

So want better or priviledge treatment, work ourself up the ladder. One year bonus can be other whole life salary already.

Looking for a good Q2 ahead, with expenditures are carefully evaluated and audited. Projects previously on-hold will be re-presented for debate and go/no go will be known in Q2, 2010.

So, you can see that O&G counters are still pretty much lagging behind.

Disclaimer : Personal Opinion, not a recommendation to buy/sell.

CIMB lag 3 months behind my target. Should be reaching 14 on January. Since the BONUS proposal, the price sky-rocketing without STOP.

The idea is , after split should be higher than MAYBANK.

I don't thnk the profit is sustainable in coming futures.

I think it is ok comes with some interest.

Convert later. Is it 1 or 1 ?

TAGB Kinda undervalued at this moment. Fair value above 50sen

Property stocks In Malaysia should do pretty good ( later ) this year.

Interest Income ( from Loan Stocks ) could be better than Dividends, since it is a must pay item.

PA pays dividends ( not interest , right ) . I prefer Loan Stocks.

Tax rates for Interests should not be one tier ( or exempted ? )

Plse correct me, accountants.

Eh, ya hor, the different of 11 cents can consider dividend average 3.7c per year. More ever I think for TAG to give dividend in this first 2-3 years is very unlikely.

Will jump in and hold this for as long I can... laugh.gif

I believe the most important part is are you feeling comfortable with your entry price or not. So far i feel comfortable with the entry price of all my stocks. Thats y i also missed out quite a number of opportunities E.g. KPJ, PARKSON, OSK etc as i am not comfortable with the price.

For e-dividend, they will charge the same 2.50 per cheque, so I think I will move those counters that pay 3 or 4 times a year to Jupiter. In fact I have transfered quite a few d.

I believe the most important part is are you feeling comfortable with your entry price or not. So far i feel comfortable with the entry price of all my stocks. Thats y i also missed out quite a number of opportunities E.g. KPJ, PARKSON, OSK etc as i am not comfortable with the price.

I have two that you mentioned KPJ and OSK.

I feel that these 2 counters gives quite good dividend and therefore I will still average down if it ever goes below my ABP. whistling.gif

Too bad you missed the opportunities. wink.gif

Errrr noob question...

If a company declares, during the same announcement, two dividends to be paid on different dates, does that mean they will pay out in two cheques?

My question prompted by Boustead Holdings recent div announcement. TQ, one payable on 31/03 another on 2/4. smile.gif

The reason I say so bcos though Preference shares come with a fixed dividend rate let say 3.75%
, it is a not must for a co to pay out.

Also Co Acts prohibit a Co to pay out dividends when the reserve is negative (worst case scenario ), otherwise amounting to capital repayment.

No company is allowed to overrule Co Acts ( if terms are specified in the co laws ).

On the other hand , there is no law to say that you cannot pay interest if you are losing money.

brows.gif All IB gave out a high T/P (CIMB RM9.20, Maybank RM8.80, OSK RM8.3), but the price still slip to 6.20 recently, I think it should refer to the GENS price. If GENS going back to $1.00 above, Genting sure can surge

In case you are lost where were we, there you go:-

QUOTE
FBM-KLCI gained 22.73 points to touch 1322.51 as at 12.00 noon. We can see from the daily chart that the market may be charting the course of its next upleg soon. Some indicators which have turned positive are:
1) MACD hooking up;
2) RSI entering into the overbought zone; and
3) +DMI swinging upward coupled with -DMI swinging downward. ADX has turned upward.

FBM-KLCI may however face some resistance at the level of 1325-30, as the market will attempt to break out of the expanding triangle ('ABCD').

FYI...

A light week for economic news picks up on Wednesday.

Wednesday: January unemployment rates on a state-by-state basis will be released in the morning.

Wholesale inventories are expected to have risen 0.2% in January after falling 0.8% in December, according to a consensus of economists surveyed by Briefing.com. The report from the Census Bureau is due shortly after the start of trading.

The weekly crude oil inventories report is due in the morning, while the February Treasury budget is due out in the afternoon, but neither is usually a market mover.

Thursday: The weekly jobless claims report from the Department of Labor is due out in the morning. The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment is expected to have fallen to a 460,000 unit annual rate from 469,000 the previous week.

Continuing claims, a measure of Americans who have been receiving benefits for a week or more, are expected to have fallen to 4.495 million from 4.5 million in the previous week.

The Census Bureau is expected to report that the January trade gap widened to $41 billion from $40.2 billion in December.

Friday: February retail sales are expected to have risen 0.2% after rising 0.5% in the previous month, according to forecasts. The Commerce Department report is due out shortly before the start of trading.

Sales excluding autos are expected to hold steady after rising 0.6% in the previous month.

The University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index for March is due after the start of trading. The index is expected to have risen to 73.7 from 73.6 in the previous month.

January business inventories are expected to have risen 0.1% after falling 0.2% in December. The Census Bureau report is due out after the start of trading.

Nope. This is one of the rare days FBM KLCI is as volatile as HSI,STI

1.7% is nothing to shout about. Even in bull run, one profit taking day can drop 2-3%.

Edit: The leverage effect I still need to get used to. Up until I 'buay lin chu' (kenot recognize home) rclxub.gif

In theory only.

Practically US people start to behave like China men ( intention to save more )

And China men start to spend money like the old time Ang Mo.

But your analysis is still valid in the current situation.

icon_idea.gif Here's a laugh:

KUALA LUMPUR: STAMFORD COLLEGE BHD [] plans to build a steel mill costing RM29.79 million as it diversifies from education services to steel products.

It said on Monday, March 8 that sources of funding would comprise of RM28.9 million from internally generated funds and the remaining RM883,579 from leasing.

It added the rental rate for the five-acre land leased (inclusive of a factory building) from Spring Bond Sdn Bhd in Beranang industrial estate, Selangor would be RM12,500 per month.

Stamford College said the principal market for the products and raw materials is Malaysia. The sales are expected to derive 100% from Malaysia for the first two years.

"The plant's annual production capacity is 48,000 tonnes. For the financial year 2010 and the financial year 2011 output is budgeted at 50% and 70% of production capacity respectively," it said.

Unbelievable..... hmm.gif

I thought April Fools Day was next month..... tongue.gif

I'd love to know how they arrived at that figure of "RM883,579 from leasing"..... laugh.gif

Above is the historical data of unemployment rate. Let's take it as the actual unemployment rate for March 2010 is 11.5%, I don't understand what's the reason that causing a sudden rise of 1.8% from Feb'10 to March'10.

Anyone can share some info here? hmm.gif

which plantation company to aim for? hmm.gif
there are about 20 of them
*
lol @ the 2 i currently have...
one has debts all over from head to toe...
one is too old to run.. at most walk with a tongkat...

i think there are more than 20 plantation counters... go to "Indices -> Plantation Index" instead of "Search By Sector: Plantation"...
yup like what Sky taikor says.. those "mixed blood" one also included if they are in plantation index... and not all plant oil palm i think.. hmm.gif

need to study a bit more... hopefully can find some hidden plantation before the ship sails...

I READ a report that most Plant stocks prices have more or less factored in palm oil prices of rm 2000 to 2200.

Though prices up a bit at rm 2500 a tonnes, you may have to consider the hot weather and shortage of labourers.

The upwards may NOT be as good as expected.

If you choose to invest, then opt for pure plantations, Funds favourites if they buy.

With the exceptions of IOI and SIME.

But Sime is overvalued.

KLK and IOI were the top favourites of last plantation bull run.

maybe more, can read the old " plantation" thread if still around.

Sinks to the bottom.

For plantation stock, not every plantation is the same, their financial situation is varying from each others. So better study properly rather just invest based on they are in the 'plantation' sector.

So job data gave impressive result = people got job = people got money to spend = later retail sales show good result

Am i analysing correctly?  hmm.gif

Based on the latest report, there is still job loss, not job created. Just the data is much more better than most people expected.
So expectation there will be job creation in the next few month report.

We are not yet in 'people got job' based on the US job data. But the data trend is pointing towards this direction.

Locally, there is huge shortage of labours issue. From restaurant, manufacturing to plantation sectors, all sector are highly shortage of labour force.
But little job for those air-cond, highly paid, and little job need to be done one. tongue.gif

SKY, I know you saw the news in papers but it is kind of misleading. Is not proposal anymore. That dividend is "Ex" on the 25th Feb and we will be getting the chq on the 15March onwards.
But there is another dividend on the way and this one is in proposal stage and it will go on "Ex" on the 20th May (18cts)

Thanks Sky for the good words, problem is Zack may be from a different broker and our charges are definitely high as compare to most online brokers.Eg ,our minimum for online is RM28.

Sky provides services for Jupiter, which charges is one of the lowest in the industry, you can consider him if cost is your main concern.

I pay a high borkerage fee too.

Though online, I prefer to have a remisier to consult.

On the road, always can sell stocks in time during the downturn.

Service is what we pay for. thumbup.gif

P/S : my arrangement with Jupiter broke off bcos I do not agree with the compensation scheme.

I rather become an Investor.

FY10P/E: N/A, P/BV: 0.3x
• The sharp pullback from its 52-week high of RM1.59 ended in mid
November. Prices have since formed a base near the 23.6% Fibonacci
Retracement (FR) level. As selling momentum faded, we see increasing
chance for it to break above its 30-day SMA (at RM1.01) and swing higher
from here.
• Indicators are showing signs of improvement. MACD, though remains in the
red, has stabilised. This is a reflection of easing selling pressure.
Meanwhile, the RSI has also hooked upward again.
• Once the 30-day SMA is taken out, expect it to move towards the next
resistance at RM1.05 and RM1.10. Always put a stop at RM0.96 in case the
bulls run out of steam.
Eastern and Oriental is an investment holding company. The company,
through its subsidiaries, operates in property development, investment, and
management

Using 5 monitors > One of my lecturers had very high blood pressure until he seriously heeded the advice of a doctor not to trade anymore and back to lecturing.

Just ask him if he gets commission fee out of ur trades. If no, then dealer, if yes then remiser. Other than that, no obvious differences.

Dealers and Remisiers hold the same licence under the Capital Market And Services Act 2007.

Difference is Dealer are paid company employees , some do get commissions but percentage is much lesser as compared to Remisiers.

Remisiers are independent contractors and have no basic salary, commission sharing is much higher .Remisiers also have to find their own clients and are responsible for clients' losses.

The distinction is getting less clear nowaday because with Online trading getting more popular ,dealers or sometimes Customer service officers are assigned to look after clients who registered online direct with the company.Since the portfolio of clients assigned to them are not personally known to them, the service may sometimes not up to your expectation.

My usual tag line,you pay peanuts,you get monkies. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Not forgetting that some Remisiers are also not up to the mark, just sack him then.If you are serviced by a Dealer, then not sure whether you can ask for a change.

looking back at MPHB historical chart, looks like they are traded steadily in between 1.8x to 1.9x for the past 6 months (after their 1:10 bonus issues). highest price was 2.00-2.02.

finger cross this round MPHB can go above 2.02 biggrin.gif

the trend :- counters that practised Right Issues would be less-preferred by investors.

the price wouldn't surge high in short period.

===

and vice versa, counters that announced Bonus Issues would attract alot of attention biggrin.gif

Maybank like no response to my e-mail, maybe they know I wont stick long as I have moved quite part of my portfolio else where.

But they told me they will still charge rm2.50. So my advise is transfer out those dividend counters which pay like 4 times a year and is for long term to direct CDS account.

On a side note, they charge rm20 for each counters transfer out. vmad.gif

Squeeze as much out from us.... mad.gif

We all write to ask them to reduce to rm0.50 per dividend cheque for their employees salary to key in. (credit to our account). Afterall they only receive one big cheque for all investors.

I am one leg out dee. But if they charge 50 cents per payment then I am OK to stick with them. Reason being with e-payment, people will have no hazzle, so why pay that 2.50?

Maybank like no response to my e-mail, maybe they know I wont stick long as I have moved quite part of my portfolio else where.

But they told me they will still charge rm2.50.  So my advise is transfer out those dividend counters which pay like 4 times a year and is for long term to direct CDS account.

On a side note, they charge rm20 for each counters transfer out.  vmad.gif

Squeeze as much out from us.... mad.gif

Added on March 9, 2010, 2:52 pm

We all write to ask them to reduce to rm0.50 per dividend cheque for their employees salary to key in. (credit to our account). Afterall they only receive one big cheque for all investors.

Easy job.  icon_idea.gif

That is why, every thing is expensive. So want to leave pun difficult. I got so many mini counters. Should have kept it at the previous HLG. rclxm9.gif

I only came to know rm20 per counter recently. This is equal to 2 years divvy cheque. mad.gif

Maybank Research Paper snippet:

Daily Technical Outlook
The FBM KLCI surged by 24.44 points to close at 1,324.22. Its
resistance areas at 1,327 and 1,338 may cap market gains, whilst
the firm support areas for the FBM KLCI are located at 1,308 and
1,324. Despite the Dow’s minor decline of 13.68 points, we expect
the FBM KLCI to remain firm today due to bargain-hunting activities.
The market managed to sustain yet another close above the 50-day
SMA line yesterday. With this, large funds have managed to keep
the index up beyond the key 50-day SMA line. The market may be
poised to test the resistance area of 1,327 and its major resistance
of 1,338 in the near future. With this, any dips or weakness could be
sought after.
We believe that clients should still adopt a short-term trading
approach, as there is a price gap on the chart of the FBM KLCI
between 5 and 8 March 2010. This means the over-extended
market could come down one fine day and fill this price gap of
1,299 and 1,312.

FBM KLCI Line Chart FBM KLCI: Key Points
 Take profit at 1,327 and 1,338
 FBM KLCI may test its major 1,338 resistance
 Firm support areas at 1,308 and 1,324
 FBM KLCI sustained above the 50-day SMA

I wonder if they will inject this ski resort into Stareit tongue.gif
