Docter: In terms of gaming, Kave wins. With the correct settings, you get good reproduction of sounds with the Creative X-Fi. Since I only play L4D2 on my PC (not much of a gaming guy), I can say this. Sound of guns, good. High treble, yes. Low boomy bass that shakes your face, yes. Surround sound accuracy, excellent.
Compared to the Audio Technica ATH-M30 (which I bought at RM 230), the AT sounds more realistic. The guns sound more 'real'. Bass isn't as boomy but comfortable. Treble almost the same. But the one thing that it loses out, is the surround sound. Don't get me wrong, there is surround sound, and it's good using the Dolby Headphone technology, BUT it is NOT pinpoint accuracy. Because it is simulated surround and not real surround, you get a somewhat 'around there' sound as compared to the Kave's "25degrees to your left behind you!" accuracy. I can actually turn around and hit a zombie square in the face just by listening to the surround sound itself. As an added bonus, the Kave has a really good microphone too.
But in terms of music and movie... the Kave still has a very long way to go. But the only thing I can say is this: different breeds. You don't compare a Rottweiler with a Beagle. Both are dogs, but one is an attack dog while the one is a companion dog.
So the verdict: gaming - Kave wins. It's a lot more fun playing the game with the Kave than with the Audio Technica, especially when your face starts shaking.
the surround of Kave is not just empty hype. its been proven personally when i did gaming in CS and MW2. like you'd mention, the precision is well defined, making the gaming experience better than ever
