BTW, I just couldn't register in my head how language like English being dubbed over just for the sake of American market... English subtitle should have suffice for US market. Mandarin still ok la... but kurang 'ummph'! Even though I don't understand chinese, the expression & vocabulary are certainly at best with original language!

Around 50% of my BDs is US version, 30% UK version, 15% Hong Kong version and 5% Japanese version.  So, still can't consider UK's BD fan.

Watched Monsoon Wedding (Criterion) a couple of days ago. Captures the elements of marriage chaos to the parents and all around.

Very interesting watch. Mira Nair is pretty good at weaving a tale. Yes there is the songs, but in all Indian weddings there are actual singing and dancing (North India). She works the characters pretty well, and brings the tale of a traditional India moving into Modern India. Not sure if non Indians will actually see what's being potrayed, but still there is a lot of stuff to take out of it. Those of us who are parents have girls to give away as a bride one day can reflect upon the dads feelings. She tackles a lot of issues, that are new to India (in 2001) like, love before marriage, how the society deals with the western influence, parents choices for their kids and childrens loyalty.

PQ - This is interesting. Criterion did a fabulous job in this restoration as this was initially captured in 16mm and then blown up to 35mm. Grain haters beware....Stay away, but this is how it was shot, also to give the gritty feel of India and its streets.

AQ - Very good 3 channel, the surrounds are sparsely used, but subtle when needed.

I would give it a 2 thumbs up. However, I dare not recommend this to all those who have wrote to hate Bollywood song and dance. Although, in this case it is not a normal Bollywood, there are song and dance but it is at a wedding and it is a real reflection of actual weddings.

I'm new to Amazon. If you know how do i acctually read the region info in Amazon?. I hardly see it stated for some blu-ray titles.

PQ not that bad as the review say..still acceptable..

AQ is excellent...no complain about it... nice ambient sound from LR..surround also not bad... the best part is the bass is damn good.. expecially when frodo wear the ring, it could tear your house apart.. there are few more scene that have good bass too.. i like it most when they in mine of moria...the best part of all in the movie...

Dang...I just got mine and it's without slipcovers. They ommitted the slipcovers from the later batch.

Why is that some does have slip covers and some dont, i mean the slip covers are not important perhaps, but its completes the package init.

I do understand that Toy Story 1 & 2 blu-ray has 2 types of packaging. One is BD case and one is DVD packaging but are they BD or similar to BD packaging [ 3 disc edition]

What's the point of displaying the item package on store with slipcover when the blame goes to the suppliers? Why do u think Amazon not bothered about the issue?

You're right, some will disagree, perhaps most..but IMO with the slip cover obviously its looks great while on shelves..

Anyone wanna get BD from Amazon.de (German)?
I wanted only the Dances with Wolves (The 4 hours version) but the shipping is EU14 which is too high for a movie....I bought 4 BD last time also EU14 only, so would anyone want get anything from Amazon german? They have many steelbook version and I think Michael jackson steelbook only EU14.97 (after deduct tax only EU12.58 (RM55))

Anyone watch "The Lovely Bones" before?  Is it good?

I have 2 or 3 BDs from UK with back cover info of Region B. But playable on Reg A player. So far info from http://bluray.liesinc.net/ is very accurate. More accurate than the BD back cover also 
Btw, I give up buying from amazon UK coz the cheaper BDs they sell have "For Rental or Resale" stickers and the video bitrates are around 15-25 Mbps only. But the expensive ones like around GBP18 have full bitrates of 40Mbps  At this price, I'd buy from US lah which is around 20 dlrs only and also NO Nipples

Film
This is a comedy & romance flick. JA & AB presents themselves with great show & acting talents. Priyanka Chopra was gorgeously presented.
All other supporting characters did well. Especially the American guy who came to inspect JA & AB's gay relationship. Funny!

Watch this film if you like one of a kind Hindi comedy

I thought Ghajini , New York , Fanaa had the great PQ transfer, but this definitely another great PQ release from Yash Raj. Contrast is good. Colors are lively. Especially when John Abraham & Abhishek goes to Neha's [Priyanka Chopra]'s flat for rental inquiry. The view was mesmerizing.

AQ
The film is lively, probably not dubbed in studio , live sound .. Although not mastered in DTS-HD MA 5.1 , since i only had Altec Lansing ATP3 2.1 , the AQ was loud and crystal clear.

Overall
PQ is surprisingly was good , AQ minus DTSHDMA , 5.1 should do great work on your HT. Yash Raj should look into more titles with DTSHDMA in future releases.

How do we consider a title before we buy.

1. Do we buy BD because its cheap [obviously everyone does] ?
2. Do we buy BD after reading reviews and comments on the desired title?
3. Do we buy BD cos of good story line ?
4. Do we buy BD for the sake of PQ & AQ aspects?
5. Do we buy BD for ultimate high definition stuff?

What are other aspects you consider before you buy a Blu-ray title.

Hope im not asking a silly question. I would like to have you all share your experiences and knowledge.

and watched "Toy Story 2" last night, holy cow....perfect PQ & AQ, the opening scene of Buzz flying with LFE rumbling.....and the surround throughout the movie is fantastic.....definite a demo and reference material, and it's quite a enjoyable movie especially watch with family
