QUOTE(fadthil @ Apr 10 2010, 12:15 AM) Ok, then it's cool. Tell me abt it..BTW, I just couldn't register in my head how language like English being dubbed over just for the sake of American market... English subtitle should have suffice for US market. Mandarin still ok la... but kurang 'ummph'! Even though I don't understand chinese, the expression & vocabulary are certainly at best with original language! Will probably get this if price drops below USD10 maybe... I jus watchd a bit of Shaolin Soccer [UK region B locked] n it has an english odo version which get tis is signifcantly shorter than de cantonese odo version.. weird ting is I tried de eng version n it does sound like Chow Sing Chi's voice.. I mean him speakin Engrish.. funny eh.. Added on April 10, 2010, 10:15 am QUOTE(low98944 @ Apr 10 2010, 09:43 AM) Around 50% of my BDs is US version, 30% UK version, 15% Hong Kong version and 5% Japanese version. So, still can't consider UK's BD fan. Wow..30% is veri high .. I dont hv evn 15% bot fr UK.. maybe 20% if u include OZ ones.. Maybe d ttls I like r not region free frm Uk/Oz.. Tats gonna change soon D This post has been edited by dirtrun: Apr 10 2010, 10:15 AM |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Apr 10 2010, 11:17 AM) Watched Monsoon Wedding (Criterion) a couple of days ago. Captures the elements of marriage chaos to the parents and all around. Watched tis sumtime ago when it 1st came out in SD..Very interesting watch. Mira Nair is pretty good at weaving a tale. Yes there is the songs, but in all Indian weddings there are actual singing and dancing (North India). She works the characters pretty well, and brings the tale of a traditional India moving into Modern India. Not sure if non Indians will actually see what's being potrayed, but still there is a lot of stuff to take out of it. Those of us who are parents have girls to give away as a bride one day can reflect upon the dads feelings. She tackles a lot of issues, that are new to India (in 2001) like, love before marriage, how the society deals with the western influence, parents choices for their kids and childrens loyalty. PQ - This is interesting. Criterion did a fabulous job in this restoration as this was initially captured in 16mm and then blown up to 35mm. Grain haters beware....Stay away, but this is how it was shot, also to give the gritty feel of India and its streets. AQ - Very good 3 channel, the surrounds are sparsely used, but subtle when needed. I would give it a 2 thumbs up. However, I dare not recommend this to all those who have wrote to hate Bollywood song and dance. Although, in this case it is not a normal Bollywood, there are song and dance but it is at a wedding and it is a real reflection of actual weddings. storyline is pretty intrstin.. n all tat but I m surpsd tat Criterion decided to do tis up.. Added on April 10, 2010, 4:58 pm QUOTE(sKyWiR3pT3lTd @ Apr 10 2010, 04:39 PM) I'm new to Amazon. If you know how do i acctually read the region info in Amazon?. I hardly see it stated for some blu-ray titles. AMZ's discs info is really bad.. totally unreliable.. I guess its cut n paste frm SD info.. they stil use AC3 in odo in sum cases..Better to rely on independent rvwrs.. This post has been edited by dirtrun: Apr 10 2010, 05:03 PM |

AQ is excellent...no complain about it... nice ambient sound from LR..surround also not bad... the best part is the bass is damn good.. expecially when frodo wear the ring, it could tear your house apart.. there are few more scene that have good bass too.. i like it most when they in mine of moria...the best part of all in the movie... later on will continue with the two towers D LOTR SD's were a revelation when it was released .. a reference disc in both vdo n odo.. QUOTE(sKyWiR3pT3lTd @ Apr 13 2010, 11:11 AM) Why is that some does have slip covers and some dont, i mean the slip covers are not important perhaps, but its completes the package init. Prbbly its not amz fault as de supplier ships it to them like tat..I do understand that Toy Story 1 & 2 blu-ray has 2 types of packaging. One is BD case and one is DVD packaging but are they BD or similar to BD packaging [ 3 disc edition] Curious As a pckg.. yes de slipcvrs does make a difference but bottom line is u buy a video disc to watch a video n wat counts is wat is inside de pckg, de rest is nit pickin.. But of cos, many wil disagree.. D |

QUOTE(sKyWiR3pT3lTd @ Apr 13 2010, 11:25 AM) What's the point of displaying the item package on store with slipcover when the blame goes to the suppliers? Why do u think Amazon not bothered about the issue? Haha..You're right, some will disagree, perhaps most..but IMO with the slip cover obviously its looks great while on shelves.. I hv no place to display la.. hence I couldnt care 2 hoots if it cums wif slpcvr or not.. jus as long as de disc is in decent condition.. I guess u can complain on not recvg said slipcovers but I would nt be too sure on receivin it.. I hv complaind numerous times on broken casings n hv yet to rcv replacement casings.. I would prefer they offer me a rebate/refund.. But then again I like buyin used n mint discs too D |

Read tat rvw..![]() Seem like not bad but not suitable for younger teenagers because of its intense subject matter. Reviews are here and here. Peter jacksons flick cant be too bad.. Tis reminds me a bit of Frighteners - oso another PJ helmd sleeper.. Added on April 16, 2010, 12:06 pm QUOTE(putih @ Apr 15 2010, 05:40 PM) I have 2 or 3 BDs from UK with back cover info of Region B. But playable on Reg A player. So far info from http://bluray.liesinc.net/ is very accurate. More accurate than the BD back cover also Info on bck cvr shld not be used as de holy grail.. there are instances where they dont state region at all..Btw, I give up buying from amazon UK coz the cheaper BDs they sell have "For Rental or Resale" stickers and the video bitrates are around 15-25 Mbps only. But the expensive ones like around GBP18 have full bitrates of 40Mbps On bitrates.. I guess if u hv a huge awesome display, it would make a diff but peasants like me wif a HD ready wan cant really tell de diff.. Its Cheaper .. n I can live wif nipples D This post has been edited by dirtrun: Apr 16 2010, 12:06 PM |

Caught tis :
![]() Nice love story wif fine acting by both leads.. thou there r epic battle scenes ala LOTR but where tat is concerned, its stil a long way off.. but then again u dont buy bollywood ttls for its fight scenes.. VDO is great n fully use hidef to its fullest.. Mrs Bachchan nvr looked so gud.. Colors were bright n popped.. ODO is surprsingly veri gud - its dts hdma5.1 utilises de surr chnls quite a bit n bass is strong .. battle scene wif de cannon fights were 'felt' .. its oso recorded a bit hot as compared to most hollywood 'referenced' discs.. Overall its worth stayin up de 3.5 hrs.. |

QUOTE(sKyWiR3pT3lTd @ Apr 18 2010, 07:42 PM) Dostana Blu-ray Review Haha..Film This is a comedy & romance flick. JA & AB presents themselves with great show & acting talents. Priyanka Chopra was gorgeously presented. All other supporting characters did well. Especially the American guy who came to inspect JA & AB's gay relationship. Funny! Watch this film if you like one of a kind Hindi comedy PQ I thought Ghajini , New York , Fanaa had the great PQ transfer, but this definitely another great PQ release from Yash Raj. Contrast is good. Colors are lively. Especially when John Abraham & Abhishek goes to Neha's [Priyanka Chopra]'s flat for rental inquiry. The view was mesmerizing. AQ The film is lively, probably not dubbed in studio , live sound .. Although not mastered in DTS-HD MA 5.1 , since i only had Altec Lansing ATP3 2.1 , the AQ was loud and crystal clear. Overall PQ is surprisingly was good , AQ minus DTSHDMA , 5.1 should do great work on your HT. Yash Raj should look into more titles with DTSHDMA in future releases. Happened to catch tis las wk end too.. n ya its pretty funny.. ![]() I especially like de fantasy scene where one of de stars first meet his partner in Venice.. Another support cast I liked was Bobby D who playd Nehas bos, Abby S.. he was veri well done.. PQ is fine .. Odo (on de dts lossy) is great .. as I suspected Bollywood studios run their odo hot.. surrs work even thou tis is more of a dialog/comedy flick.. n as ambience for its soundtrack, it workd xtremely well D Added on April 20, 2010, 10:59 am QUOTE(sKyWiR3pT3lTd @ Apr 18 2010, 10:45 PM) Guys, Haha..How do we consider a title before we buy. 1. Do we buy BD because its cheap [obviously everyone does] ? 2. Do we buy BD after reading reviews and comments on the desired title? 3. Do we buy BD cos of good story line ? 4. Do we buy BD for the sake of PQ & AQ aspects? 5. Do we buy BD for ultimate high definition stuff? What are other aspects you consider before you buy a Blu-ray title. Hope im not asking a silly question. I would like to have you all share your experiences and knowledge. P/S : Hope you guys leave your experiences and opinions / comments here.
