Man...I finally finished my 9 month contract with a accursed house in TTS5.
Now I can rant about it.
That house was bad. And the landlord deserves no respect. The only reason I got the house was because most houses were taken leaving the crap ones, and pioneer finally responded saying theres no room for me.
The landlord literally equipped the house with alot of inferior stuff. The fridge, so small, my parents got mad that they forced that lardlord to give bigger fridge free of charge.
Modem, WTF?!, that guy suka nak cubit duit. Claiming it cost RM700, then change it saying it is deposit money on the modem. So glad we manage to get it fixed by Maxis at no charge. The router he gave after requesting it was crap, only one person can use the wireless and there was no wired ports, also he claims ada deposit of RM400. So bought a new one for RM65.
Then theres fans..Even that he cant get right, the fan breaks down REGULARLY breaks down and needs repair. He claims to pay RM50 for it. Got pissed, we didn't believe him, so we just paid fixing charge which he can justify. And the fans they dont do much, only circulate the air but u dont feel the breeze.
Chairs...WTH!! They are brand new but very very pathetic quality. Seat on them once and lean on that as you would do after good meal, the chairs break.
Utility billing, first he claim he wants to adjust it to pay for want we have to pay, since we rented it late September. Then later he takes all the bills for each months. We asked him so many time to bring back the bills so we can pay for it. He says no, he need more calculations to be done. And the only returns it back at the late 8th month. He charges us FULL for September, what a LIAR!
Also another lie. He claims the price of the house has stayed the same. But looked at the ad he posted, he increase the price of the house by RM300!! That was the final straw when it came to respect him
Also since it was 8th month the bill became so HUGE, about rm 5000 for everything, we had no choice but to forfeit the deposit and pay extra.
Then theres the time he comes...He comes late, like after midnite, then he complains why theres no one. Reason everybody LEFT cause they have studies to do in uni.
And at the 8th and 9th month he would come literally any time he wishes to the house, complain why there's so many people, claiming that they were squatting as some were staying overnite until their flight was coming. We had to go so far to the police to show that they had the rights to stay for a while and the owner had no rights to bother who is in the house.
And some times he brings prospective tenants to the house, at night and and evenings. Open the house since he has the keys, comes in show the house, without asking permission. Opens the room door, wakes up people who are sleeping. I really wanted to chase him out, but I didnt want to look insane to the prospective tenants.
Only good thing about the house was that it brought friends closer together for a common hatred.
Therefore i recommend people who unfortunately took that house this recommendation;
i) DONT USE ANY OF HIS EQUIPMENT. THEY WILL BRAKE. washing machine broke 4 times. might as well buy a new one
ii) Hoard the utility bills, don't let him pay it. Pay it yourself when you need to.
iii) Buy new padlocks for the doors. That guy is effing rude, coming whenever. If he comes late, dont let him in, even if you have to pay the bills, just say sorry come next time at an earlier time or say ur coming late. Resort to the police if you have to..seriously. He needs to respects the tenants privacy as well
iv) Keep receipts of everything, if something does break dont bother from the owner, fix it yourself save money.
Added on June 25, 2010, 9:55 amAlso piece of advice for ANY HOUSE;
-Know your rights to the house, once you rent it, it is YOURS the landlord has no more rights to it besides the property (sink, furniture, bathroom etc...) of the house and any right left based on the contract signed (if existed). It is up to you who's in the house at any given time. You can even kick the landlord out if he comes uninvited.
-Let ONLY FRIENDS you know very well to stay with. Distant friends can screw you over by messing the house.
-Get NEW padlocks, the previous tenants may still have the keys and rob the house later. Some of my friends house got robbed, cause somebody got the keys before the rent.
