But I'm utterly disgusted by how the school and hostel suck student $$.

The school? How is that possible when all the tuition fees are clearly published? No other charges whatsoever. Or do you mean something else?

No doubt its a good uni but I wont say best.. You guys are funny rclxms.gif
*
I assume you're a university student or graduate yourself, therefore you're qualified to make such a statement.

So, c'mon.. don't just stand there and laugh for no apparent reason. Give your reasoning and arguments man, all university students should be able to do this. Unless you ain't one yourself. blush.gif

As for me, I'm in support of the title:"Best university in Malaysia so far", which is based on one simple fact, i.e. it's an integral campus of a Top 15 UK university.

Certainly there would be the presence of certain deficiencies if compared to other universities, but I believe that's on a case to case basis. As a general catch-all phrase, the abovementioned title is quite understandable.

Now, if you do not agree with that title, kindly share your opinion, we're all ears.

Hey man do you know how to setup a HTTPS proxy on a VPS? With multiple user accounts and password.

Need it to work with a software like Proxifier too. I believe Proxifier is a proxy management tool that enables you to define exactly which software (including browser) that you want to route through it.

I need to set one up for all my friends as well as myself before going behind the great firewall again.

VPS? Lol. You're hosting a local server here?
*
No lah. Plan to purchase a cheap VPS plan (US based IP) at approx USD 10-20 per month?

Then can share the cost with friends.

The problem with VPN which are very cheap these days is that it will reroute my connection between my account management client with the local network. Then the local network automatically thinks that I'm logged off already, thus no internet access.

Har? How is your VPN configured. Normally shouldn't have that issue. mellow.gif
*
The openvpn client reroutes all software traffic from the computer to the internet through the proxy I believe.

Not really sure how its configured, it's just a thing where I can key in my VPN IP, username and password into.

There's also a config file given by the provider.

I've tried another free VPN with proprietary client is the same too. Remember the Packetix we talked about last time? Same problem.

The only good thing that my current VPN (free trial) can be used for is that I can key in the details in uTorrent's proxy server settings (HTTPS) and torrent from China.

Thus, as you can deduce, I can't use VPN for browsing, which requires the openvpn client, thereby causing even my local network account manager (network login) client to be rerouted. Unless there's a way to tell the vpn client to avoid rerouting the traffic from my network login client.

I am still not clear on how is your connection being established from on end to another so I can't really help you on that. So here is the part I quote from the FAQ:
For more info: http://openvpn.net/man.html

HTH
*
I found this in the config file if it helps you understand more?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I also saw this in the manual you linked me to:
--redirect-gateway [local] [def1]
(Experimental) Automatically execute routing commands to cause all outgoing IP traffic to be redirected over the VPN.

If that's possible, how to do the opposite to that? Meaning how to only cause certain traffic from certain softwares, e.g. only chrome.exe to be redirected over the VPN?

Let me rephrase my situation in very simple terms:

Why is there suddenly "must have been living in your own world" thing coming out of nowhere?
Ah well,Monash is the one which has the best world ranking in Malaysia.
Or should TS change to research uni..
I think this should be better..Haha..
Since our research department is undoubtedly stronger..
*
Oh yea, forgot about Monash. :-P So now it's a friendly competition.

Your software, running on what type of service? LAN, internet? What port?

Might need to config your iptables... Definitely cannot run away. This is tough lol.

Try Linux subforum... maybe can get a clue there from the forumers.
*
The software, I am not sure. I can't configure it, I believe it's in the config files of the software. I just plug in my laptop to the LAN, then run the software (also key in my user-name and password in the software). Oh every room has a fixed IP address.

Haha this is difficult, that's why I said it would be easier to setup a VPS and proxy. tongue.gif If you know how.

Yep that's the correct spelling.

But those aren't not the closest. It would be fish place, along the road towards Broga. Unless they've closed down?

Induction was creepy and boring. Sad to say that =/ Apparently alot of the staff were absent.

The best part of the induction is the course induction at the end. But it's really scary since she was talking bout failing and retaking and no honours and getting expelled........by failing 2 core modules?

Accounting and COUNTINGGG are not my forte.
*
I believe in your case if you fail 2 core modules then it's compulsory to resit them.

And to your last statement, I would say it's 90% mindset (barrier). The remaining 10% goes to actual differences in comprehension ability. Accounting and Quantitative Methods is all about practice.

Sorry for repeating the question again but i'm really worried. I sent my application for the Engineering Foundation Course for April with my forecast results in November. I sent my actual GCE O'level results as soon as i got them early February. I haven't received anything from them, not even the the conditional offer. I am Malaysian, not an International Student. What is taking them so long? I live in Miri so i need to book tickets early and look for accomodation. Anyone else has/hasn't received their letter for Foundation for April intake? Anybody know the reason why are they taking so long? So worried.

how's e lecturers? the school environment? any complaints? I currently have offers frm aus uni, however it would cost a bom studying thr. uni nott is still quite reasonable, with a uk degree, paying RM sch fees.
*
Hmm just some petty complaints here and there. But you'll experience trivial issues in any university.

Just don't start complaining about your lecturers being unintelligible in lectures, cause it really doesn't matter in a business course.

And yes, if you were to do your degree programme in Malaysia, UoN and Monash will be best places to do it.

However, if you get the chance to go overseas, assuming it's within your financial reach, it's always gonna be a superior choice (just make sure the university's on the same rank as Nottingham or even better).

Updates regarding "Pay RM 1000 for your offer letter" matter.
Still don't know whether to pay up or not coz I applied for Star Education Fund under the same course and same Uni as well.

*
So do you mean if you don't get the Edu Fund you're not gonna proceed with UoN?

is there a shortcut to TTS from campus or do we have to go via jalan broga?
*
You mean by car?

Yeah, go on the opposite side of the road (oncoming traffic), take the emergency lane though, and 80m you'll be at the side road that comes out from TTS to join the main road.

For walking, there's the bridge, around TTS5 area.
