I still using old firmware at this moment, is it will erase all my data inside my phone and memory card after new firmware installed?

If no backup, will the phone format or erase data itself after the new firmware installed?

Ok.. I just updated my phone through wifi on my phone by keying in:

*#0000# > options > update software

and surprisingly it worked.

Now I'm a 0.31.023 Nokia E72 user.

Difference I feel, I realized there isn't any warning tones anymore? When I lock my keypad, I don't hear anything.

Also, the navi doesn't feel as smooth? Or maybe I'm just paranoid.

Will keep everyone updated after testing out and comparing.

Added on April 26, 2010, 9:30 pmOk, update, there is a warning tone.. my bad..

Yup, after trying in vain for the last 2 days trying to update via NSU or Ovi, I decided to update thru the phone via wifi as well and it worked! I'm on the latest software now. Finally.... rclxms.gif

Backup and Restore only to be used when there is a problem with your phone during upgrade. You are advised to backup for precaution step before upgrade so if anything happen during upgrade you will not loss your valuable data or information. Restore only to be use after upgrade when there is problem during upgrade. You do not need to restore if all thing are normal after upgrade.

New models phone like N82, E72, N900, 5800XM , X6 have UDP aka USER DATA PRESERVATION so after update it wont delete your data. But we highly recommend to hard reset your phone to avoid future complication.
