Hi all, how do I overclock my CPU a little more? I currently overclocked my Core 2 Duo E4500 from stock speed 2.2GHz to 2.53Ghz(230*11)(FSB*Multiplier) I can't set the FSB to 266, if I set it to 266 and save into bios then restart, the PC won't boot, no beep sound and no screen on the monitor. Is my chipset's limitation? my mainboard is Refer Here. And How do I increase the voltage?

Here are my spec:
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 @ 2.20Ghz (Overclocked to 2.53Ghz [230*11]) (Stock HSF from Intel)
Kingston Value RAM 1x2GB DDR2 667Mhz (Overclocked to 766Ghz due to adjusting the FSB)
MSI 945GCM5-F V2 (Support FSB 1333 CPU)
Asus Geforce 9600GT (Power Saving Edition)
WD 160GB 8MB/7200RPM/SATAII
SoundBlaster 5.1VX
Acbel E2 Power 510w (510w Max power, 450w continuous power)

Any tips for me to overclock my CPU more?

i think u need a better cooling fan for u processor if u want to overclock.

so now ur comp cannot boot?

Can, I can always reset the Jumper on my board if I overclocked too much and cannot be started..

Well.. Try raising the voltage a little and see if you can go 266MHz. You'll need an aftermarket cooler as well. A cheap one like the Hyper TX-3 will do the job just fine wink.gif.

Laaa, no need aftermarket HSF, stock cooler are just fully enough for TS, since TS are not a very hardcore OC'ers, and intend to keep the temp below 20'C ^-^ .. Pumped a bit vcore by 0.1 after another .. Try first

He hasn't manage to have it boot up on 266... Once he has, I'm sure he's gonna try overclocking it even further wink.gif.

If like that search for aftermarket HSF if TS love to OC more and more ^-^ .. TS, did you increase your vcore a bit too ? If yes, then i think the FSB wall make it stuck there ^-^

just experiment with ur vcore...try increase by 0.05v...
i think there is not enough vcore u pump... biggrin.gif

But how do I raise the Vcore voltage? My BIOS doesn't seems to offer me to adjust... It only offer me to adjust the RAM and PCI-E voltage.
And I go into PC health status in bios, there show my Vcore voltage is at 1.336v

most probably dis mobo were not meant for OC....

btw, i think ur problem here might b ur ram can't OC as high. coz wen u push the fsb, the RAM will OC as well (if u dun touch the ram multiplier).

try either:
a) lower ram multiplier + loosen timing
b) pump more dram voltage + loosen timing

edit: typo

That's quite a very low end board, by the way. You should be able to get above 230MHz system bus (920MHz FSB) easily. smile.gif

I don't think you can get far with this 65nm processor using the stock cooler. hmm.gif

This is the main problem. When overclocking processor first, always try to maintain the RAM frequency to defaults (factory specifications) or close to default as possible (lower frequency will also be fine). Check the Pentium D 945 3.4GHz overclock to 4GHz in one of my siggy's CPU-Z tag and notice the RAM frequency. brows.gif

Example BIOS memory frequency settings here: Pentium Dual Core E5200...
user posted image

Adjust the "FSB/Memory Ratio" to lower the RAM frequency. If you can't lower the frequency or can only use higher RAM frequency then go into the "Advance DRAM Configuration" and adjust the "DRAM CAS# Latency" to a higher value (increase latency to compensate for frequency increase) and/or also increase the "Memory Voltage" slightly (when required). This is considered overclocking RAM as well.. nod.gif

Seems your motherboard BIOS does not allow Vcore adjustments. Another (radical) method would be to use BSEL and VID mod: Examples here: Overclock.net: Intel BSEL & VID mod Guide icon_idea.gif

BSEL Mod,to let your mobo know your processor is not FSB hence it is 'overclocked' without touching bios setting.. TS can follow this tactics but be careful not to do on the wrong pin ^-^ Gudluck

By the way, thanks for the informations.
Here are my BIOS information(In the Frequency/Voltage Section) that I have written down:

Current CPU Frequency 2.75GHz(250x11)
Current DRAM Frequency 833MHz
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Intel EIST [Enabled] << If I disable this, I won't be able to boot at FSB 250 but for FSB 230.
Adjust CPU FSB Frequency [250]
Adjusted CPU Frequency 2750
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FSB/Memory Ratio [Auto]
Adjusted DRR Memory Frequency 833
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adjust PCI Frequency [33.33]
Adjust PCI-E Frequency [115]
Auto disable DIMM/PCI Frequency [Enabled]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Memory voltage [2.10] <This one is in Yellow Color (High Performance Setting)
PCI Express voltage [1.60] <By default, this is in 1.55, but I adjusted to 1.60, is it ok?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spread Spectrum [Enabled]

Are you meanings that my system is unstable? My DDR memory frequency cannot goes higher than default(667)?

This one is possibly heat issue or not enough Vcore. Look for any "C1E" settings in on of the BIOS setup pages, and disable that. wink.gif

Looks OK, but test and see at default 1.55V first. biggrin.gif

You may want to disable this if stability problem arises. tongue.gif

As I've mentioned before, try to maintain the RAM frequency close to factory defaults (or lower frequency) first. icon_rolleyes.gif

Okay, now I manually adjusted the FSB/Ratio of the RAM and I got 667MHz of the memory frequency now. Should I keep 667MHz or back to 8xxMhz?

wen u oc, dun oc the ram 1st.....
lower the ram multiplier to it dun go over o run too far off stock speed.

once u reach the desirable OC speed for ur processor, den only up the multiplier to see ur ram can go any faster.

den wen u happy wit the ram speed, den only play wit timing, maybe try to tighten it....
