Any laptop fan recommendation ?

Currently using one cooler master notepal i200, not much difference

is notepal x - slim 2 good ?

Better do repaste, much more effective, cheaper too

laptop not even one month old yet la.

buying cause i like the laptop to be higher cause my table is quite low, so i was thinking since want it higher why not just get a cooling fan
*
I repasted my Y530 1 week after I got it

I tried cooling fan (RM45 cooler master one). Literally no difference. If I raise up the back with 2 notepads (about 2cm height combined), I got slightly better thermals surprisingly. Free yet effective way

Better thermals of course

CPU temp playing destiny 2 is around 96 to 98 , but i don't notice any thermal throttle.

Is it ok for the long run ? or should i under volt it slightly ?
*
90+C is high, sure got thermal throttle if you monitor clock speed

Undervolt and consider repaste (needed if you encounter uneven core temps)

Ah okay, would repaste required.me to install os and other stuff again ?

Generally have no clue about repaste.

Replace thermal paste...nothing related to OS

which thermal paste do you recommend ?
*
In general: TG Kryonaut. But only works well with good heatsinks and the amount is little (enough for a few applications only)
Otherwise CM Mastergel Maker Nano (currently using)

Ah thanks, will look into it.
How bout Noctua NT - H1 is it any good ?
*
Dry out quickly in laptops due to low mounting pressure (better than Arctic MX-4 but still not that good)

How quick is quick, can last for at least 2 years ?

How bout TG Kryonaut
*
MX-4 can dry out in a few weeks, not sure about NT-H1 - if I remembered correctly it depends

Kryonaut also can dry out quickly if the heatsink is lemon - contact surface not even, low pressure etc

Did repaste already with thermal grizzly.

CPU temp still go ups to mid 90 but GPU stays at constant 76

So weird haha

Which model you're using? Undervolted? Any changes to fan noise and clock speeds?

Illegear Laguna, Undervolted -135v.

Fan noise is same and clock speed mostly maintain at 3.8 Ghz.

Probably the cooling solution is limiting

Make sure you have applied the undervolt (yes it can happen)

I'm using XTU to undervolt, should i try and use throttle stop ?
*
Yes, from my experience XTU is very troublesome to use

Don't want to mess up such a simple procedure. Thank you.
*
Basically this is what you need to do:
1. Buy a good paste - I suggest CM Mastergel Maker Nano, no MX-4 and NT-H1
2. Open the bottom cover of your laptop (find tutorial in YT if you don't know how to do it)
3. Disconnect the battery cable
4. Unscrew heatsink, clean the stock paste (alcohol not necessary)
5. Apply new paste - long line on CPU, dot/cross on GPU
6. Put everything back up together

Remember to record thermal results before repasting

Hi sifus. Need some suggestions for cooling fan. Budget rm100 to rm200. For lenovo legion y7000 2019
*
cooling fan isn't necessary for Y7000, only need undervolt+lifting up the laptop with something like a book, maybe repaste

How often should I replace my thermal paste? I just bought this laptop and i thought why not buy a cooling fan to support it besides lifting it up as well.
*
Depends on your heatsink quality and the paste itself, normal I would say 1-2 years

Good cooling fan need to spend RM100-200 which I think isn't worth it, considering that you can drop temps more efficiently by undervolt+repaste+lift up (also cheaper)
