by placing them in the middle it will create a fast air flow across the intake. therefore creating better sucktion into the intake. the reason for moving down 2 holes is to decrease the hot air being sucked back into the fans cause the outlet for your lappy is at the upper left back. try using those diy rubber stop( household stuff) for lifting the front.

not the same cause the fans are still right below intake...
as you mentioned you have lots of air being blown outwards.. this is due to fans being placed at the edge.
i am using cm u3 no mod on asus n53sv i also first thought by placing fans directly under the intake will help.. but later read online(not sure which website) by placing directly under the intake only deflect most of the air cause the intake holes are too tiny.
so the website suggested to place fans next to the intake to create somewhat like a sucktion area(fast air movement)..

the other thing is by placing fans directly under the intake disrupts the airflow at the intake. My suggestion is if you still have the original fans for your U2 place them between the 2 large fans. do not switch on the large fans just use the original fans only
see if it improves your temp.
my max temp i ever get is around 65 only even during gaming( counter strike)

u can buy a lot way usb port ma. dun care the vent. as long got space for ur cooling pad. just put the fan. more fan = more cooling.

whr got pointless? better than nothing. dun wasted ur u2 both fans. u can blow other stuff like external hdd. where also can. no need sell. be backup also good.

this seems to contradict the notion of beter cooling. like going backward....
moar vents--->better circualtion-->cooler--->less heat related problems--->moar good points--->better sales..

I managed to reduce the hot palmrest area on my lappy by putting some paper underneath it because there is plenty of voltage regulator underneath it heating up the area. It reduce the temperature immensely, it just barely warm now instead of uncomfortably warm.

Sounds pretty good, so my guess is right; the onboard speaker is crappy and not the sound chip itself. Volume is low though, since I use low sensitivity and high impedance speaker but anyhow I have plans on what speaker to use on it

Yup, but thats just for testing. I gonna buy some good sound quality laptop speaker. Maybe I should buy the one with subwoofer. I'm getting tired of replacing laptop looking for a good sound quality one but end up its as crappy as the last one.
It depends on humidity, if you stay in places where humidity is low (air conditioned room) with socks or on carpets for sure you get shocked often. But you getting shocked by vacuum cleaner? Are you sure?

after vacuum, of cos get shocked on lappy lah not the cleaner. u touch the lappy u get shocked!!! i play under air cond room ok but if at shop w/o air cond & damn hot place mostly KENA. i think might be the plug issue. or my lappy circuit sot jor.

I just browse around, the speaker area on my lappy is so small I doubt it fits any other speaker on it. Generally speakers with a bass reflex casing behind the driver have good sound quality, but yea I gonna buy Harman Kardon speaker from Toshiba Qosmio but I don't think it will fit perfectly, need some modification
Of course by moving around you will build up static electricity, and by vacuuming you also accumulate from the things you vacuum too. That is your laptop problem, not you. I haven't been shocked before from my lappy
