SPM leaver here, I didn't take Add Maths nor Ekonomi Asas for SPM.

Do I need Add Maths and Ekonomi Asas if I were to take Maths and Economics in A Levels?

hey!

I just registered for UniSA CMM program. I would like to know whether the shutter bus service picks up anywhere near SS2(PJ) or Shah Alam?

No. The Shuttle bus only goes around the areas where Taylor's has campuses and their owned accommodations.

If you can bring your letter of acceptance and receipt though even if you don't have those it's ok as long as you remember your student ID.
You don't really have to bring anything for orientation. Probably bringing some pens etc. might be a bit useful during activities.

Wearing three quarter pants is not recommended but nothing bad usually happen when you do so though people like the Dean etc. will be quite annoyed by people wearing them.

Not really sure how much though the usual numbers are around 140 +- though the numbers have went up a lot before. I'm not really sure on the exact numbers as I'm no longer working as a student ambassador right now.

Greetings to all of you here.
Recently I have been awarded Tertiary Merit Scholarship, I have also enrolled myself.
But i still havent got my agreement?
Should I receive it before orientation or during orientation?
And... the offer letter is just way too simple. ==
Why didn't taylor's include any details about the orientation?
like what activities will be held and something like that?

I don't know about the scholarship agreement, you should call Taylor's for that.
You will only receive details about orientation on the first day of orientation. Just come on that day.

Wow thanks for the heaps of information Hikari. By average, does that mean there is room for improvements?

I would also like to ask, since I missed the Campus Day that was held over this weekend, when will there possibly be another information event held by Taylors again (if possible, specifically by TU)? I hope there are some after Chinese New Year.

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif
*
Hey CrimsonReapers, if you have missed our Campus Day on 8 and 9 January, not to worry, our campuses (Taylor's College Subang Jaya and Sri Hartamas) are open on weekdays (8am-6pm) and weekends (9am-4pm) till 30 Jan. Secure your places now - some subject combinations are running really low!! Hope to see you! smile.gif

QUESTION!
I am an SPM leaver, and would most likely be furthering my studies into merketing communication in the future,
but as of now i am really confused on which Pre-U programmes to choose from,
Should i take SAM or CPU?
many has said that CPU would be better for me, as it involves alot of event oragnizing, assignments and projects that could really train my speaking skills and critical thinking, but CPU is abit pricey (and also ALOT tougher?) compared to SAM, and some people are telling me SAM is more recognize internationally, especially if i'm aiming for Aussie unis.

CPU's structure will be more relevant to your future choice. Even though both uses 70:30 ratio for marks (70% internal assestments, 30% final exams) SAM is more towards quizzes, mid sem exams etc. though CPU would have more presentations, assignments etc.

CPU is also quite recognized in Aussie. You can find info on entry requirements quite easily.

SAM is also 70% coursework, 30% final exam in 2011. Yes, I agree with Hikari, CPU should be more suitable for you. smile.gif

There's a list of clubs that Taylor's give me when I received all those student goodies.

They have anime society, basketball club, sky adventure club, squash club etc etc. I mean, they actually have all these in the Subang Jaya campus, or they only have these in the Lakeside campus where the university is located?

And can someone tell me what's this Sky Adventure Club is about? It's about those flying vehicles like helicopters or it's about the universe where we learn about the stars and planets?

P.S. Heck they even have a Ninjitsu Club. rclxms.gif

There are certain clubs which are available in all campuses there are certain which are available in some.
When they separated the University and College they separated the clubs according to where most of the main committee is. Some a new commitee would open in the campus where it wasn't around. It would depend on which club you want.
Sky Adventure is doesn't have anything to do with the sky ahaha. They are more go camping, biking, marathons basically all the sporty stuff, going jungle tracking etc.

Hi punkysue. For economics, you won’t need to have studied Ekonomi Asas at SPM. However, in order to do Mathematics at A Levels, you’ll need to have at least an A in SPM modern mathematics. If you took Additional Maths, you’ll need to have obtained a credit. For further clarifications, please call our counselors at 03-56362641.

I've got a question.

I have already registered for Taylors' A Levels and my 4 subjects are chemistry, physics, maths and further maths. Is it possible for me to change from further maths to economics now? Will I get charged for doing so?
*
If you are a new student, within the first two weeks, you will be able to add/drop subjects with no charges and provided if there is still space in the class. We advise you to speak to our course counsellors as soon as you can, at 03-5636 2641 and let them know of your change.

what is the benefit of study A-level but not foundation?
foundation only need 1 year but A-level need 1 and half year right?

what is the disadvantage of study A-level?
*
A Levels is an international qualification. The key difference between foundation and A levels (or any other pre-university programme) is this – foundation, you can only pursue rour degree at that particular university you completed foundation with. It may be accepted as entry into degree programmes at other universities, but your choices will be very limited. In foundation, you’ll also have to be very very sure of the degree that you’d like to go in. For example, if you choose to complete the Foundation in Business, you’ll only be able to pursue courses in Taylor’s Business School, Lakeside Campus. If you decide after your Foundation in Business that you want to pursue an engineering degree instead, you’ll need to do another year in Foundation in Science.

Doing A Levels or other Pre-University, however, will lllow you to choose whichever degree course you want to go for (dependant on your subjects studied), at whichever university. A large percentage of our pre-university students get into the top 200 universities around the world!

Comparing ADP program to bachelor degree in USA or Canada, the 1st year in ADP is equivalent to 1st year of university or pre-university?
*
ADP is essentially the quickest route to get into American universities. smile.gif
It’s a matter of choice for students. However if you choose to do the ADP and then want to enter into universities in Australia, UK, etc… anywhere that is not Canada/America, you’ll find it more difficult. Choices will definitely be more limited than a pre-u programme.

Hi! Yes we do have lockers in our campus. Drop by our Student Central to register for your own locker.

Hi there,
I just finished my spm this year, i'm currently considering SAM in TCSJ and i'll be doing the humanities based combination like
Economics, Legal Studies, Psychology, ESL studies and REsearch Project.
Because i'll be going for degree in communication after that.
Are this subjects difficult to cope with if i enter march intake?

I was actually considering foundation for communication at lakeside,
but after visitng the counsellor, i realized that entering SAM has its advantages like the fact that we learn so much more things than entering foundation.
but the thing is i've already made up my mind to be a communication student in the future, so should i just go for foundation or should i take SAM?

thanks in advance, and happy new year smile.gif
*
Hi! If you have your sights set on a communications degree at Taylor’s University, then go for the foundation in communication course. However, if you are still deciding on which university to pursue your communications degree in next time, then we’d strongly advise you to do a pre-university instead. This would mean that you’ve got more university choices (international and local) available to you, after your graduate from pre-u.

hi,can anyone tell me more about legal studies, one of the subjects offered in SAM
and is this a good combination for further business studies?? maths, accounts, econs, legal studies and ESL..thx smile.gif

p.s: (i accidentally posted in the other thread, can u teach me how to delete it??)
*
Hey Calvin. Legal studies is about law. You will learn how the legal system works, law-making and how it responds and contributes to social change.

Business studies do not require any pre-requisite. But yes, we do recommend that you do legal studies as that will give you an idea on law and how it relates in business (there is a little bit of an overlap between business and law in your business degree in the future).

Yes you can. Instead of doing 3 subjects for 2 semesters, you can do 2 subjects each semester for 3 semesters ^^ in CPU. Everything is essentially the same for CIMP and CPU, just the name of the programme is different but you get the same Ontario Secondary School Diploma at the end of the programme
