You want comp science or business? I saw you asking about business in the Sunway thread.

Anyway assuming you get 8 subject exemptions the full tuition + misc for two years in Taylor's RMIT Comp Science would be around RM46,020

There's no long sem or short sem in the programme since it follows RMIT or the Australian system in general. There will be 2 sems each year and each semester you will be doing 4 subjects.Assuming you get the 8 subject exemptions which is worth 2 semesters or 1 year this would be your pattern
1st sem: July to November
2nd sem: March to June
3rd sem: August to November
4th sem: March to June

First sem tuition + misc fees is RM12,330 since it includes registration fee and a refundable security deposit.Your next semesters will each cost RM11,230 respectively.

Well if that happens and everybody decides to leave, leaving such a small number in your class than I think you guys might get shuffled into other classes but I never heard of people leaving until the number drops to the point of that happening before ^^"

The student-get-student scheme in Taylor's is not that much about RM300.So if you are ever interested to go inquire or register at Taylor's be sure to contact me if your interested then we can share it since to get that scheme I need to be present at your first point of contact with Taylor's =)

I'm also quite intersted in Comp Sci -> SE. I should be entering for July intake.

1. The thing I'm concerned here is about a friend of mine. The both of us are taking A-levels and it ends in June. His results is not that good and since he only takes 3 subjects, what is the chances of entering Comp Science if he fails chemistry and obtain reasonable results for the other two subjects?

2. The next thing I would like to know is whether continuing students from Taylors could get a discount?

3. Is 1119 Sufficient as a requirement for Computer Science?

4. If you would compare, is there any differences between studying in Taylors and MMU? I know Taylors do have some benefits in terms of better possibility to do twinning programs with RMIT, but I'm quite concerned of the cost.

5. Regarding the RM 300 thingy, has anyone tried like continuing from Taylors Pre-U to Taylors Uni? Will that work?

I understand that this questions should be directed to the student councelor, but I guess the school of computing has yet to shifted over to Lakeside and I find you quite knowledgable (Hikari0307).

Thank you in advanced.

1)for this question I'm not really sure, I'l answer to the best of my knowledge but you better go to student central and ask a counselor to confirm.
As far as I know Australian Universities convert A-Level grades into points like maybe A=5,B=4,C=3 and so on.So if you reach the necessary points with two subjects and most importantly the pre-requisite subject in this case math must have acquired the required grade then it would be no problem though the part that make me wonder would they accept with one fail even in the other two are enough since some would want at least the three subjects to be at least a pass though some would just require you meet the necessary points.

2) Taylor's continuing students automatically gets a 10% tuition fee waiver. If you scored well you could apply for the scholarships available like the Tertiary Merit Scholarship and such

3) RMIT recognizes a credit in GCE-O 1119 as passing their English requirement so Taylor's should accept it as well for their twinning with RMIT and from what I have seen in other faculties they do accept 1119 though I never seen people registering for Taylor's RMIT twinning before but they should be the same.

4) I won't comment on studying in MMU since I know little about them but in Taylor's the main benefit are the facilities, the services and the environment.
Well since your a Taylor's student I don't think I need to elaborate further on the many services and facilities Taylor's provides to their students especially all the new facilities in Lakeside. You should take a shuttle bus to go look around the campus sometimes though phase 1 is not entirely done yet, it's scheduled to finish by July and Phase 2 by 2012.
Taking part in the ECA activities is one of the most fun stuff in Taylor's XD
The most obvious good thing is of course the chance for you to transfer to Software Engineering in RMIT through the Computer Science degree but if you are unable to do so hey your still in RMIT's Computer Science program all your transcripts and Degree comes from RMIT. Tt's cheap considering what you get by just staying here in Malaysia compared to going to Australia =)
In Taylor's RMIT programme you will also occasionally have guest Lecturers coming from RMIT to teach in Taylor's for a semester or so.So you would have the ability to learn from RMIT lecturers even in Malaysia. The courses follow the same syllabus as in RMIT University and are taught to the same high standards. RMIT University is involved in the monitoring of examinations as well as assessing the quality of teaching and learning.
and also The School has set up its very own research unit, SIM@RUN (Systems-Information Management-Multimedia Research Unit), which overseas research and industry collaboration related activities. The research unit has two arms in Consulting & Training and Research & Development.
Taylor's also continuously improve their programme through their Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) that helps to develop and review their curriculum on a regular basis. The IAP members include: AMD, Basis Bay, Dell, DHL, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Intel, MDEC, Microsoft, Novell, Oracle, SAP and Siemens so you can be assured that the programme caters to the needs of the industry so you will be work ready when you graduate ^^
You should come to lakeside to see the library and the facilities provided to the students. There are about 20 computer labs plus 4 Mac Labs,Multimedia labs with PIV hyperthread workstations,Dedicated LINUX and Oracle server,Multimedia incubator with video and sound editing feature and a lot of other cool stuff there.
Another benefit is the chance you get to mingle with people from all the other courses in Taylor's, getting to meet people not only from all over Malaysia but also a lot of international students and people from all sorts of programmes. (make some friends with cullinary arts students is good to XP )
and there's also the career and development center in Taylor's which would assist you greatly in finding places for internships and such during your studies or maybe assist you in finding a job when you are graduating. They also provide a lot of workshops like resume, resume clinics, career and employment fairs where a lot of major companies along with their senior HR managers will be present like the one happening in Lakeside this friday, interview skill, leadership development and so on which some students neglect and some stuff like writing a resume might seem insignificant to some and they think they can write a good enough but even people who have jobs nowadays don't know how to write a proper resume and that is a big turn off.
Well forgive me if there's anything wrong up there's I'm lazy to re read those stuff since it's too long ahaha anyway if you got any questions your free to ask me ^^

5) Regarding the student-get-student scheme there is one line in the terms and conditions that says the student introduced must have not studied in Taylor's College or Taylor's University College before so if you introduced a student who did their pre-u in Taylor's into a Taylor's programme it doesn't count.

oh yeah for your information the school of computing will be moving to lakeside next week =)

hum it's quite nice in my opinion especially when the commercial block is done there will be lots of shops just underneath the hostels and the library and classes just across the lake ^^ but it would hurt my pocket ^^" if your ok with the price go ahead though it would only be complete by July.

yes. As long as you fulfill the lowest requirement of the course, which is 60%.
The foundation can also lead you to Bac. (hons) Quantity Survey. (:

Yes as long as you get the minimum score of Average C+, equivalent to 60% you are guaranteed entry into the Taylor's Bachelor of Science (Hons)(Architecture) and Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) programmes =)
