Hey guys, I and 4 other friends will be stopping by the Pre-U campus in Subang Jaya next Monday, do I need to make an appointment? Uhh.. actually I'm still not sure about what pre-u to take, depends on budget I guess, in Taylor's, which course is considered the most reasonably priced? If A-Levels I'm not planning to take Further Math btw, probably 4 subs, just only finished SPM trials,

got 5As (BI,Math,Moral,Sej, EST) 1B+ (BM), 1C+ (Chemistry) Bio and Physics not sure yet, probably B or A..

planning to take dentistry in future... what course do you recommend? Do I need to call and make an appointment? anyone assisting me in this would be GREAT! thanks~

OH YEAHH, can we use PTPTN for Pre-U studies?

I hope everybody think twice before joining Taylor. Especially, Taylor's University programme. They are one of the most f***ed up university i have been in. Taylor is so commercialise in taking in students that they don't really care about the students' quality any more. As long you meet the bare entry requirement, they're more than happy to enrol you for your money. I was once in a class with a bunch of people who cannot even communicate in simple English! Next, the lecturers there are not really experience in teaching as well. All these young lecturers, i presume that they have at least a master qualification, are actually bad in trying to convey their knowledge to students. Frankly speaking, the money your parents spend on Taylor does not justify the education you receive. It will be better for all of you to considered studying in other universities like Monash or Nottingham, where they have better quality students and lecturers.

From a student that regretted joining taylor university.

Almost every private uni does that. And it depends on your course as well. If its sci related, the entry requirements are usually higher and the entry requirement is even higher if you wanted direct entry to degree(from stpm, a levels, sam, uec) for both sci/art related course

Noticed Taylor's is very low... for my Canadian Pre-U programme, entry to Engineering is 60%+ only. Monash is 80%. That's why I decided not to consider Taylor's U. Don't really like Lakeside campus also.

So may I ask what other universities you have been enrolled in to make the comparison?

Which Private University in Malaysia is not commercialised? That's their main source of money. They are run by businessmen after all.
Majority of the IPTS in Malaysia takes in any students who meet their entry requirement. They need money and can't afford to be choosy. There is very little that doesn't fit that profile.

I'd assume statistically the community in Taylor's would use English more in their daily life albeit Malaysian English for a lot of people compared to other places.

Well some lecturers are not in the University to teach, they are there to do research and teaching may not be their strong point.

If your really not happy, you can afford to study in Monash/Nottingham and you meet their entry requirements then by all means go and do a credit transfer to those unis and be happy.

Monash has a higher ranking than Taylors so the entry requirements are relatively higher. Although ranking is not the only factor, but in the end, it depends on the uni to set the standards for their entry requirement.

If the uni has a high demand from students, obviously they would raise their entry requirements to get better students and vice versa right? Demand and supply brows.gif

Well Universities like Monash needs to adhere to the standards of their campuses in Australia therefore the higher entry requirements. Australian Universities set their entry requirements based on demand and also the overall performance of year 12 students every year.
