Hi guys...I am thinking of buying the ASUS G73JH-A1 laptop, in this forum i saw that u can buy online from Xoticpc, provantage n Mucro....so, what is the availability of this model on that website? in Mucro they are saying that "end-May" I've emailed them asking the availability of the model, but have yet to receive an answer...huhuhu...one more thing... as far as I know, buying/importing laptop is tax free.....but now i'm reading here that some forumers had a very very BAD experienced  with our customs..huhuhu.....I am now in doubt...should i buy, or shouldn't buy online.....huhuhuhhu....pls advice...

Thanks for the info!!   So , what I can do is ask Ken to State the packing list outside the package? And , is there anyway I can make it directly deliver to my house? Or perhaps , in the pos office in my city? Because i don't think I could travel that far to Sepang for collecting the parcel. Beside that ,  I really dun wanna take the risk to ask the staff there to open up , check and deliver to me. What if my stuff gone missing

thanx bro....i've already check the site...might be buying from there..we'll see... anyways, one of my fren said, that the LAPTOP is tax free...BUT the WiFi that comes with the laptop MUST have AP.....I dunno how true is this.. I've ask my fren to give details...he'll revert back to me on that....

To get the same spec like G73jh for Allienware is too expensive for me    Anyway, Thanks again!    Really wish I'm lucky enough to be the very 1st one whom have big parcel like that deliver smoooothly to house without stopping by custom >o<!

Added on June 8, 2010, 11:32 pmbut Jeffry1987, does GentechPc has ready stock available? so far Xotic back order have to wait for 6to8 weeks or more (not including shipping time), same as Provantage, Mucro no reply(huhuhuuhu)..Amazon has ready stock, but price is higher than fore mentioned e-sellers...so the best choice here IS GenTechPC, provided they can surely deliver in a few weeks times....( I dun have the patience to wait) huhuhuhuhuhuhu...After careful considerations (and alot of "racun"..) I will by this model next month....thats why I'm researching now for the best priced, reliable seller, etc.... hehehe... btw this IS the first time I'll be buying anything from the net......huhuhu

ok..roger that......care to share ur experience? becoz last time i went to the Sepang Customs to take some documents (in which i dunno why my company didn't sent thro' DHL, UPS, etc) i got some bad experience...1st, i had to take a pass at one of the guard office...when reaching there, i was denied acces just becoz i am not wearing a collared shirt (wtf! how should i know the dress code or wuteva...) but after some explaining and a little bit of begging...ok..i can take my pass...but then i need some kind of letter from company, saying that THE PACKAGE is for me....ok after a few calls company fax the letter direct to the office..then i have to pay rm5 for the pass....huhuhu then got the pass...got thro the gate...got lost inside...huhuhhuhu....then reached the counter for retrieving my documents, got to pay rm30 for processing.....huhuhuhu.......btw this customs place that i mentioned is the one near LCCT terminal...izzit THAT same place where you collect your laptop??

Hello guys, eventually I have successfully claimed/ cleared my Asus G73Jh-A2 from the Germany local customs.  Super excited now!

First and foremost, I did an unboxing video for my notebook and I will try my best to upload it to YouTube in these 2 days as there are many assignments are waiting for me at the study table now.   

First impression of this notebook？ Ultimate content for its physical looks especially the rubberized and matte black finish of this notebook. It was extremely gorgeous no matter from outside or inside of this "beast". The only "little let down" is the size which is a little bit big for me but it is still fine enough for me. 

First step after booting up the Windows is creating the recovery disc via "Ai Recovery Burner". It required 6 blank DVD+/-R disc. It took me some time for creating these recovery disc.

Nope, it will definitely not disturbing the cooling system of the notebook. I have double checked this matter with the NBR's Asus G73Jh members and they also told me that there are no any cooling mechanism under the keyboard as some of the discussion members have verified it via disassembling it. It was a misunderstanding at the 1st place. 

They told me that there are some air intakes from the mesh above the keyboard but I'm not so sure about this. 

Hrmm..if u were to remove your keyboard protector after maybe an hour usage . . I am quite sure you will feel hot air coming from the keyboard. Or . . maybe that's just me lol

I have not tried that out it.

Affirmative! I'm totally agree with you regarding on the dust. I'm rather cleaning up the dust collected on the keyboard protector than the one which fall inside the keyboard. Super hard to remove. Before this, I have tried to use the Cyber Clean cleaning compound on my previous notebook but it seemed like it was not that effective enough.   

However, most of the Asus G73Jh users out there were worried about the cooling system of this machine will be affected by this keyboard protector. 

Hi everyone, been following not only this thread, but also several others regarding the same laptop, and i just wanna share my two cents.

I bought mine from eBay, seller was PortableOne, and was quite satisfied initially, except for a teeny dead pixel in the bottom right(in spite of their $45 all-round laptop check prior shipping). Price: er, well, better than our local offerings(at the time of purchase). my own personal opinion: get yours from the US, we have the stronger currency, singapore is the poorer choice imho. the thing arrived late May. Customs didn't bother me at all..no trips to Sepang etc. item sent straight to my front door.

My g73 is A2, with 1TB HDD and 8gb ram.

1. The video drivers are very tricky to update, for most laptops, using ATI 10.4 and above will crash every few minutes into a game. two solutions at hand: a) updating the videocard BIOS with a clevo/MSI/third-party one, risking a 'bricked' vcard, or b)updating to Asus' 10.1 drivers(not the latest by ATI though). I did the former, which disabled the HDMI and VGA(until the next legit vbios comes along).
2. for some, the main mother bios itself might be problematic(missing keyboard strokes anyone?), fortunately, a legit Asus update (BIOS 209) is already out. those of us who used bios 206 will experience disabled keyboard lights and a PowerPlay glitch which still maintains the underclock once you switch battery>plug. I upped mine with a 209 beta from a German asus site, too lazy to reupdate.
3.Only once i've browsed through the complaint sites do i realize, Asus software support is really poor...and there are many who RMA'd faulty g73jh units back, and of those who did RMA, some had to return their units twice(three times too!)..all i can say is, open your package with bated breath, friend.

The good aspects?

1.Most games are at least playable at 1920x1080.
2.Personally i like the radical design.

In spite of all that, I definitely enjoyed my new laptop(probably my last one - my pa is especially frustrated with me wasting my money on every curious gadget i come across), and hope you guys do as well. happy gaming!

Yea. Prices of electronics in Australia is  which is bad for me . . since I will be moving there in a month lolz. 

However, I think the Aussie package comes with a customized head set as well HAHA

I think the G53 would be perfect for those who doesn't wanna go through the trouble of getting familiar with a HUGE laptop It was quite a shock for me at first when I received my G73, but I am pretty used to it now.

I did play some games. For example, Devil May Cry 4 which run smoothly on my notebook too. Maybe I will try out some other games too in future. Enjoy your notebook!

I've just completed my order for my Asus G73JH-A1 with GenTech PC. Ken Lee was really helpful when I called him. I will keep you all posted on their service & the moment my laptop arrives. Here is some useful information for would be future buyers:

1.) Payment is not difficult for Wire Transfer through our local banks. You don't even need an account with the bank. Go to the customer service counter, let them know you want to wire transfer/TT to US and they will give you a form to fill up.

2.) I did my payment through Maybank and I do not have a personal account there.

3.) Maybank service charge is RM 25 on top of the amount you will be sending. Gentech will add USD 30 to your total for their bank fees in the US. Maybank has the cheapest service charge compared to three other banks in my area. (Hong Leong, CIMB & Public Bank). CIMB has the worst TT rates.

4.) I got a surprise free gift from Maybank for using their services. To be honest I did not expect anything after the transaction. Must be my lucky day

Good to hear  Thanks for the information too, this just confirms that most G73JH has the GSOD problem. Going to re-paste my GPU once my TIM arrives & hopefully it will resolve some of the problems
