There is a 2 image burns in on my Samsung 37" LCD TV.

Mainly due to watching 4:3 movie format most of the time.
No choice, because when u stretched, zoomed, cropped it, the image quality is horrible, and what's more,
portion of the image is gone, so my family is using the 4:3 format all the time. Well you know, Astro.. shakehead.gif

here is a sample pic that illustrates the TV screen.

You can notice 2 black blocks on both side of the screen.

Any solutions ?

And No, warranty expired I guess.

Thanks for all input notworthy.gif

Can LCD also face burn in? I thought this issue only happens to plasma?

Read somewhere saying that this is not burn in but called pixel persistence. Burn in only applies to those phosphorus based tv like plasma. Usually it will go away after a while if the pixels are not stucked or dead. Try to watch it in 16:9 format for a while to see whether it will disappear

Interesting. Good picture u took to illustrate the issue as most people would not have believed u if u did not show this.

As darenlks says, it shd go away, although there has been reported cases that they don't. View 16:9 images for the next few hours and it shd reduce.

Maybe not that ppl don't believe it but hardly see a case like this.

Not sure is there anyone else who also watch it in 4:3 for long period of time have the same issue before ? Good to share for everyone's knowledge on this.

I don't think its burn in problem. I saw a friend of mine's 52" Toshiba LCD which he bought for Rm13K having the same problem exactly like yours with 2 darker bars on the side. The funny thing is that he never watch any 4:3 video on his TV. Its either a faulty LCD panel or electronics that couse it.

It doesn't make sense to me also to have light source based TV to have burn in. Has the problem gone away eventually or it has become permanent dead in pixel transition ?

try playing static or white noise for one two hour...

Just remove the aerial cable and let it run...but first you need to off the power saver option...

Hope it works

The reason I say its not likely cause by watching 4:3 materials is because it happens to my friend eventhough he never use 4:3 on his LCD. Its more of a panel fault.

The case with plasma is totally different.

Maybe they were using the cheapest LCD TV they can get for cost saving like those in restaurants and other public places then this might be possible caused by the low quality of panel used like what lightning69 said, it's a panel fault.

Ok, what I'm about to say isn't bout burn-in, but probably related. My 40" Sony LCD TV S series have a contrast enhancer problem.. Let's say the image on the screen is a small blue dot about the size of a ping pong ball with a black background, the contrast enhancer will then try to make the majority of the screen (which is black) more deeper and thus, making the small blue dot became small white dot.. It sucks..
