QUOTE(albnok @ Feb 24 2010, 10:29 AM) Thanks for the comment albnok. When I look at the photo, I felt few things were not right... but cannot point the problem. Now that you've mentioned the OOF, yes... that hit me. I think I had difficulty in the auto focusing dept. Not sure if it would help me if I had used the MF.... Also, as the ambient light was not enough, I had to use the built in flash to light up a bit IIRC. QUOTE(cjlai @ Feb 24 2010, 10:45 AM) waah!!! soo sharp one cj. Pls share how you manage to get that sharp shots... did you use a flash? CPL filter? |

But I was thinking would it not be much cheaper getting a gray/white card and calibrate the camera to the gray/white card at the set (photo shoot location), than buying a CBL lens... On your macro setup... so elaborate (compared to mine hehe... I dont even have a macro lens Dont you get light reflecting on the glass panel when the flash fires ? kmarc, if you do manage to visit Zaloon Studio @ Sony Alpha Pro Shop, try the cz's and also maybe some macro lenses eg SAL100mm macro (if you are into macro la)
nb: the 100mm macro can also act as a standard potrait lense too This post has been edited by Banzai_san: Feb 24 2010, 08:27 PM |

QUOTE(nashakir @ Feb 25 2010, 02:41 PM) hey guyz.. i need help... how to shoot dance? currently only have 50 1.8 n flash for indoor.. range 50mm is so short and so im at the side of the stage to frame the shot.. no tele at the moment any advise on the technique? slow sync? because afraid would spoil the event as a OP. pretty please help thanks and one more thing.. the celling is too high.. so direct flash? read some on the internet but needed your own opinion.. thanks If you are the OP, I would suggest that you be familiar with the place. Try have a look at the location and try a few shots BEFORE (eg a day before etc) the dance day. If 50mm is too short, to overcome that, you can use the highest image size setting for your A550 (ie L:14M size). You can crop and resize the photos later. (cropping is just like zooming digitally IMHO the f1.8 is quite a fast lens (in terms of aperture, ie bright lens). With acceptable clean high ISO of A550, you may get by without using a flash... hopefully Im not sure if using a flash would be much help. The flash would light the dancers in the forefront, but MAY leave the dancers at the back dark. Hence, IMHO best would be to capture the shots using high ISO + bigger aperture + shutter burst mode (multiple exposures) + AF-C ... Just a noobie's suggestion This post has been edited by Banzai_san: Feb 25 2010, 04:15 PM |

QUOTE(albnok @ Feb 25 2010, 05:48 PM) nashakir: If you use -2 EV and ISO400, and brighten it up later, it is the same as using 0 EV and ISO1600. correct me if Im wrong... but shouldn't it be that using "-2 eV and ISO400" is the same as using 0 eV and ISO100 ??? ie -2 eV darkens the picture 2 exposure steps down meaning ISO400 becomes ISO100 ?? |

QUOTE(lugiamcg @ Feb 26 2010, 10:11 PM) but what about those photographers out there who does not have the creativity to produce such photographs? I dont know about others, but I feel I may have some problem in the creativity dept However, in learning to broaden and expand my photography skill, style, knowledge etc... I try to vary my shots. For example, if I were to shoot a flower, I at times ask myself "how can I capture the view of this flower differently from what I and others normally see it? ". Meaning, usually I look at a flower from the top looking down (for example). So, I try to change the perspective (viewing angle) and take a shot from different angle... such as at same level to the petals, or viewing from below, etc. I try to find a different way of looking at a flower... However, Im still not good at this as Im still learning Similarly when shooting my cat or pet, rather than usually having the view looking from above and looking below towards the cat/pet (as we are taller than the pets)... I try to shoot at different angle such as shooting at eye level to the cat/pet, etc... That's what Im trying to teach myself. Donno if that would help anyone though This post has been edited by Banzai_san: Feb 27 2010, 12:22 AM |

Is it true that Zeiss lenses have the "3D look" in photos shot using them?
And what does this "3D look" photograph actually ? |

Thanks for the comments nashakir & albnok.
Would be good if in the 2nd picture, both kittens are looking at the camera. I really need to explore using multiple / burst shots. And also maybe using AF-C would be more appropriate no? It is slightly hard to keep up with the kittens, as they always running around. Btw, last nigth when I turned on my cam and then turning it off, I noticed my A550 make a "trrrr" sound and vibrate when shutting down. I have not notice this before. Now, everytime I power off my cam, the "trrr" sound and vibration can be heard/felt. Is there something wrong or is it normal? If normal, I wonder why I have not notice this thing before ???
