Changing the monitor is out of question.
The DVI-D to HDMI cable isn't the only problem I'm facing, the Y-splitter cable seemed to be rare over here.
I believe I gave out a clear questions from the post there.
I appreciate your help, but it doesn't give the right answers to my question. No hard feelings!

I already replied to your post at the LCD thread. You can use your USB speakers for your PS3 since its USB powered but not driven. You will need the adapter for audio.

Volume output of video files are not PS3 related. These volume outputs are all encoding related. To solve the problem you need to 'normalise' the volume of the videos which I am not sure if the PS3 has this feature. But in Media Player Classic on Windows they have the normallise feature which eliminates the volume differences between different video files.

Regarding the subwoofer and ps3? Do anyone of you guys have a genuine and proof stating that the subwoofer can corrupt the bd lens and the ps3 itself? Theoretically yes..... But do someone really got those problem from closing up their ps3 with a subwoofer? I saw some of my friends putting their ps3 on a subwoofer for such a long time and nothing seems to happened. My PC was sit right next to a subwoofer too and nothing happened as well. Idk what will happen 4 to 5 years from now though.

Trying to put a ps3 in front of a subwoofer or a speaker is a suicide mission I guess.

1. Woofers cannot corrupt lenses. They can mess the lens by introducing vibrations which will wear out the moving parts in the lens itself.
2. It's safer to place the woofer away from the console, as the vibration caused, depending on your level of volume will be a bad factor for your Hard Disk rather than the lens.
3. And also, the magnetic field generated by the woofer is greater than the speakers, and it's general knowledge that magnets and Hard Drives do not go together pretty well even though there's a very strong magnet in the Hard Drive assembly itself.

But in modern speakers generally available today, they are all mostly shielded, I can say this for PC speakers but as for woofers I'm not entirely sure. The most important factor would be the vibration generated from the woofer rather than the magnetic field, which is why its best to keep the woofer away from the console but it's alright to place the console near the speakers unless you tend to blast your volume until your table rocks and stuff.

But seriously.... do you really think ps3 are made to be weak against this stuff? The only explanation with faulty ps3 that came up to my mind are heat. But yeah.... it's always better to prevent than to cure.... I'm just worried with my ps3 to be placed in between a speaker or woofer (IDK).
*
Like I said, the worrying factor would be Vibrations rather than Magnetic Fields unless you're using Home Theatre speakers since those are usually not shielded. So it's better to be safe than sorry. Chances are, your Hard Drive will go out first before your lens.

But when it comes to electronics, you cannot say for sure when will that component die. So if you have a console that has a faulty lens, it could just be it's time for death and not any other external factors causing the failure.

How do I know my speaker/woofers are shielded?
*
Either open it up or test it with a CRT.

But for speakers to be strong enough to kill hard drives, just place a few paper clips near the speakers. Or directly against the back portion of the speaker, if it doesn't stick then you should have nothing to worry about.

but are u sure the statement "only supports 120V 60Hz" does not apply? I thought in msia we're 240V. Sorry to ask somemore, just that I don't want my ps3 to explode when I plug it in :s

thanks.

PS3 has a Universal Power Supply so it supports Voltage Ranges from 110V to 240V.

Hi guys. One question, if I use external hd that have some worms/trojan & transfer some file to my PS3 hd, will it affect my PS3?
*
No, because PS3 isn't x86 based nor is it running Windows.

hello guys. i want to share something thats is very confusing... the other day i went to sg wang plaza and i ask most of the shop selling PS3. most of the price range is between rm1100-900.........(SINGAPORE set la of course). the shop that sells the rm900 PS3 said it only can work on asia region (R3)...isn't PS3 should be REGION FREE or MULTI REGION?? hmm.gif

but then i ask this one game shop, suddenly he said all the singapore set is bunch of tricks used by the shop to trick consumers . ohmy.gif he only offers malaysia set which is rm1200.....the BIG question running in my head is why all the pS3 warranty cannot be claimed to many parts of the region and why it only can be claimed on the country that we bought it??

How bout u guys that already bought the singapore set?? is it working properly so far?....any warranty problems??
*
Warranty is warranted by the company residing in the country itself usually. Unless of course, the HQ decides to implement a standard international warranty to it's particular product.

So yeah, you buy in Singapore, you'll only be covered in Singapore, or rather, need to go back to Singapore to get your warranty claim.

I have a Singapore Set, bought from Pbbseller, no problems as of yet, and I hope not lol. But yeah, I live in JB so it's convenient for me to claim the warranty if something happens or hand it over to Pbbseller to do it for me.

yea search some youtube n try the default setting even reformating everything. still wont work. definitely hardware
already at fw3.41 thing is it was stuttering for long time edy, while watching bluray movies.

btw, im in JB . no Bernard for me lol

maybe i should just get the slim.. hmm.gif

Your problem could be the the BD Drive going out. It's unlikely to be the firmware's problem as you've already upgraded it several times. But if you care to try, you could replace the Hard Drive, because most of the firmware files are dumped onto the Hard Drive and operated through there.

But I'd still say it's the BD Drive that's causing your problem.

No need for any converters. You just use the supplied Sony A/V composite cable and plug the Red and White jacks into the speaker. You need to plug it into the Audio In section.

Some projectors come with HDMI ports so you don't need any converters. Some don't have HDMI but comes with Component or DVI. Just follow the same thing back in Page 1 and you'll be ok.

Thanks for replying.

Let's say i'm getting a SG, and the hardware fails later on after the warranty period, can i then send my SG unit to sony MY later on, like any other sony appliances? Since for MY sets, parts would also be chargeable after warranty period then. Pls correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks.
*
If its repair after the warranty period I think it should be ok but you need to check with Sony Malaysia about it. But if it's warranty claim then you'd have to go back to Singapore to get it.

Most likely the firmware files on the HDD got corrupted. Follow shahreza's advice to see if it fixes your problem.

Your monitor doesn't have HDMI?
hmm.gif

You could check if theres an audio-in jack on your monitor or not, because otherwise... I don't see another way how your monitor could get sound.
If so, you still gotta result to the y-cable to connect your PS3 using the AV cable to your monitor, audio out from the AV but video out from the HDMI-DVI.
*
There are older/budget displays having the Green Audio In Jack but lack HDMI. For this, ps3roxor you just follow the usual steps in getting the Y splitter to convert the two Red and White Audio jacks to one single 3.5mm (IIRC) Green Audio Male plug.

Of course, make sure that display supports HDCP first because I have no idea whether your display is an old one or a budget model.
