Proton is certainly moving up ahead with its new engine development.

According to industry sources, the new engine will be using turbo technology but is developed more for low end torque and fuel consumption.

The main target for the engine is for the Exora, which we was told will only happen next year.

We were told that the Low Pressure Turbo (LPT) system uses a turbine from BorgWarner and pressure starts to kick in at around 1,800rpm. Power should hover around 140hp.

Apart from the LPT system, the new engine will also be using a Continuous Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) system on the intake valves.

Transmission wise, the 6-speed Getrag gearbox is said to be chosen for the engine while a CVT gearbox by ZF will replace the normal torque converter automatic transmission system. Proton realises that it needs more control on the transmission and using Mitsubishi's will not allow them so.

The engine is loosely based from the CAMPRO block but many changes have been done to it (improved water jackets, etc) and that it should deserve a new name.

We think the project's code name, Phoenix, is good enough.

Added on March 31, 2010, 11:09 amsteering senget i think is due to the power steering bush problem. i had mind changed/claimed and then they add another piece of rubber.

our p/s bush is a bit jus need to tighten more n solve the problem... hope this helps.

maybe we can get some details by looking at the power output graph? I believe they only make the changes on the high lift since paultan's website mentioned the 0-100 still takes approx 9.2secs which is quite same as our normal CPS right?

jolipoli81, the meters u mentioned are useful if you know what the numbers mean... but its really eye catching thing to own.. haha.. better not make ur windscreen or side windows a target for thieves...they might wanna break it to grab these meters...

i've installed the vacuum meter once. other than looking at the meter springing up and down during acceleration, it doesn't do me any good. its a nice thing to have but u can still live without it.

only 25 units will be made so i think it doesn't justify them to change the dashboard or plasticky molded parts. even the chassis also some sources mentioned its not double stitched, just standard neo only (i also read that R3's neo also standard chassis). they also smart to keep cost at lowest possible la... haha..

i never measured 0-100 coz my car got a 10kg subwoofer at the back and the doors are all stuck with sound deadening bitumen. my car weighs approx 1250kgs. with full fuel. so i think should be approx 13-15 secs region or higher.. haha....

guys, i just wanna check if you guys clean your TB by using cloth and stuff it into the TB? is it cleaned just like the Wira's Siemen TB?

Greddy and VerM has got their own view n positive points. of course driving is 10x more dangerous compared to dry roads. one must be on tip top alert all the time becoz that split second u turn away, accident might happen. our road condition is also not the best when u can see puddles of water forming after just 5 mins of rain. that doesn't help when you are driving even at 80kmh on the highway... u are likely to skid too.

anyhow, cool it brothers. we are all careful drivers and we all meant well with good intentions.

let's not dwell on it too much. at the end of the day, drive safely during the wet or dry and at any time.
