QUOTE(redart @ Feb 22 2010, 08:34 PM) not directly related to us but a good read that's why i'm so glad arsenal have AW to watch over deals and wages. Storrie reveals Pompey's massive £131m wage bill http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id...england&cc=4716 Even for the millions they spend, Portsmouth only managed to be a solid team for second quarter of the table at best. The complexities of football financial nowadays, it's not just as simple as paying millions for the transfer fees alone. Other than Arsenal, Everton look to be the best in juggling between the team and the financial matter. |

QUOTE(sOuLx @ Feb 23 2010, 07:50 AM) yep and vermaelen is the captain for Ajax before he came to us. Rosicky is the Czech team captain before he got injured. Arshavin also captain rite? Captaincy is none issue for us after it was handed to Cesc. I think all the players really respect cesc because he's been conducting everything that thrown at him professionally. Added on February 23, 2010, 9:00 am QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Feb 22 2010, 08:20 PM) No way. He isn't any better than any of our current strikers and has a relatively mediocre scoring record for Spurs, although his limited apperances do play a role here. Why would we pick him over Nik? like i was saying, he's a good backup to have. Rotating him and nik would be the best thing we can do because we know RVP ain't coming back so soon, rite? oh well... just for the sake of argument. QUOTE(Zan81 @ Feb 23 2010, 09:41 AM) According to Steve MacMahon (ugh) on ESPN, sometimes the captain's job is more on organising stuff off the pitch. Things like their registration forms, PFA voting, organising social activities etc. Also he acts as the middle man between the squad and the management. Cesc is the best we have for captain. however, like i said, it's a non-issue for arsenal right now. It's down to individual errors that cost us most of our games this season. So, Cesc need to address that to that particular person and continue to motivate others. Leading by example is the best he can do right now. Aggressiveness will come along with experience and i think in a year or 2, he'll definitely will be more vocal and aggressive. His reasoning is that on the pitch, the true leaders will all step up, regardless of who is wearing the armband. Adams used to wear the armband, but Keown, Bouldy and Parlour were just as vocal. And people like Vieira and Petit could take the game by the scruff of the neck. The thing is... Do we have leaders in our team now? Just looking at our team sheet, Fabregas is the best we have on the basis of his talent. Vermaelen is one to lookout for with his no-nonsense approach but other than that, I think we're pretty stretched in this department. Added on February 23, 2010, 12:38 pmbtw, so quiet aa nowadays. hehehe maybe because arsenal win last weekend? huh? and MU lost? This post has been edited by sakaito: Feb 23 2010, 12:38 PM |

I'd love to see Campbell get another run in the team for this weekend. However, if Gallas is back, that's even better news.
Diaby could be out still. there's no news yet as to the extend of his injury. Hopefully Ramsey will get the start again ahead of Denilson. |

QUOTE(Aeroberg @ Feb 23 2010, 05:35 PM) If you're good enough you get to play....if not then too bad. Life is not suppose to be fair. Nationality has no meaning in club football. English or no English, as long as they are good. +1 bro... i go one up for u. Those players who's not patience, just point their fingers to some of those who left because "they think they're good enough for 1st team football"... i.e Bentley and le sulk. in case of Le Sulk, it took him quite a number of years before he landed in Chelsea and now playing alongside Drogba. Bentley has been in and out of favor wherever he goes. Do Wenger just stop buying younger players altogether now? Or just stop anyone from the age of 16 - 20 joining the club now, cos those <16 will be ready when the current ones hit 30 years old. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « So what if we lose to bigger teams? That does not define the season. Both Chelsea and United have dropped more points to smaller teams this season than Arsenal have. At the end of the day, I rather win the league than be contend by beating Chelsea or United. I've said it all along, there are 20 teams in the league. Taking away the top 4, there's maximum 96 points left on the table. Tell me that's not good enough to win any season. A league winning run is based on consistency to maintain a high level of performance week in week out. Sure, the loss to the top 2 hurts but it's those draws and losses against smaller teams that have hurt us the most in the past. BTW, Barca also got lots of promising youth academy. That doesn't stop them from buying or recruiting more rite? this is where the business side of the club steps in. |

it's asking West Ham too much since they play at OT. Anyway, concentrate on our game vs Stoke this weekend. No team news yet. Hoping that Dudu, Diaby and Gallas will be available again.

JVC sponsored Arsenal since the 80s until 99, if not mistaken.
then got Sega, then Dreamcast, then 02 and now Emirates. Loved the late 80s JVC Adidas kit. |

i got these 2 shirts but need to take out from storage. looks something like these :-
![]() and this one... both got small cannon logo imprinted on the shirt (not visible on photo). The emblem and writing all embossed with rubber type printing. Both were bought by my sis while she was studying in UK in 1990. the yellow one i got number 4 Thomas, cause he scored the last goal against Liverpool in the last minute of the last match in 1989 season that won us the title. btw, stoke on fire rite now. Better be careful this weekend but i'm sure we can win against them. Hopefully Gallas would be back. Fuller is quite a handful to handle, Sidibe also. also.. Roman Paly scored 2 again. huhuhu...... I mean, since you can't fit it anymore, I'm more than willing to take it off your hands heheh... dunno la.. i don't wanna sell yet coz i'm on a diet program rite now. Already went down from XXXL to XXL and now can fit XL but still too tight. The red one is the 1989/90 one right? Mine is the 90/91 punya. Got a bit of design on the red part. |

QUOTE(harrychoo @ Feb 25 2010, 11:24 PM) Heard if Portsmouth goes into administration, the league will be recalculated as 19 teams league. again, get the facts rite. Administration means the team will be administered by an administrator and this will sees out the current debt. it's like going into bankruptcy lar. u can't do shit for like 5 years or so, but after that you're all clear. Meanwhile, winding up order is an order to liquidate everything. means, sell off semua benda la. Thus, Arsenal and ManU will be cut 6 points gain against Portsmouth while Chelsea only 4 ![]() just to share this with u guys. in my kampung there. respect kak In. hehehe.. if astro not showing any Arsenal game, she won't show any other game on TV. hard core gunners! QUOTE(nLz | Lanpakali @ Feb 26 2010, 03:06 PM) yep.. 9 points deducted from pompey this season. MEans they'll probably got relegated but the club will stay open, will play in the championship next season, and if got promoted, the bonuses will go to paying off the debt. plus the club can't be sold for lower than the debt value.winding up order means the club has to dissolve. This means there'll only be 19 clubs in EPL. So, whatever points gained from playing pompey will be wiped out from all the other clubs. means if we won twice against then, then 6 points out. Liverpool will get bonus from this because they lost to pompey. hehe This post has been edited by sakaito: Feb 26 2010, 03:13 PM |

hahahaha.. kampung at klang... Kg Sungai Udang. ahaha... tomorrow i'll be there with my cousin. will send regards to kak In. hehehe..
Anyway, another good news regarding our financial status. To those who told us to spend, spend, spend... look at our debt la. we're 320Mil in debt last year. Without spending a lot, within the last year we've cut it down to 200Mil. Now that's good news. now we can restructure our player's wages and also might spring some surprise signing in the summer. Bravo to AW and the rest of the team. Seems that Highbury square is the place to be nowadays. |

halo....
Real Madrid and Barca are financially stable because they own a lot of real estate surrounding their facilities. That's what Arsenal been doing thus far. Highbury sq now beginning to realise it's potential. there are some more development coming up in the near future too. FYI, the 2 tallest tower in Madrid was built on land owned by Real Madrid. This land alone gives RM about 800Mil euro. i suggest you go and read Real Madrid and Barca thread and find out more about their clubs from people who knows where and what to look for. People like verx in Real Madrid thread. very helpful and always on the money on RM facts. This post has been edited by sakaito: Feb 27 2010, 12:19 PM |
