But all of them are injury-prone and inconsistent... We need someone like drogba, torres, rooney type....
*
drogba also always injured

torress too...

rooney just hit his form now. before this he is quite average.

who? Zlatan? injury prone also. Etoó? same thing. Huntelaar? did u watch how lyon frustrate him? hmm.gif

again with the signing... haih...

someone mentioned we should used our extra money to get players... errr do we even have any extras?

signing an established players doesn't mean addressing ur needs. Chelsea signed sheva but he's a flop. Charlton signed Rommedahl but flop also. not only charlton got relegated, still fighting to keep pace in Championships. Liverpool... well u know la how many signings they had the past 5 years, it's say most of them flops. Wigan found a gem in Amr Zaki last season but he couldn't cope with EPL tough tackles, out for most of the season and never discover his form. ManU got berbatov but i think he's average at best. ManCity signed Robinho... flop. Who else?

Actually, AW has been signing gems the past 5 years (bar Silvestre.. ehehe). Nasri, yet to realise his potential but we all know he's no flop. at least not yet. Diaby, most of us given up on him but look at how he has come through the past few months. Song, no one wants him but look at what he has become. Rosicky, unlucky with injury but you know he can just turn up the heat anytime. Arshavin, i don't think he's a flop though coz it's tough for him without any support. Vermaelen, flop is it? u must be kidding me. Ramsey, glimpses of brilliance and this is one for the future. Walcott, like ramsey, showed glimpses of brilliance but he might be a flop though. i'd give him another 2 years. Fabianski? of course now people saying he's a flop but i say this with caution, watch Diaby. Eduardo, again unlucky with injury but i think he'll come thru before this season ends.

call me optimistic but I believe in the squad.

come on u gunners!

yeap... lots of our players are still below 24 and still learning to cope with big games. for sunderland game, i'd like to see Nasri on a more deep role, playing alongside Song box-to-box. i think he'll do well and he played there a couple of times and did good.

lineup for this weekend?

-manny-
Sagna-Sol-Vermy-Clichy
Song-Nasri
-Cesc-
Bendtner-Vela-Rosicky

i do hope Vela will start. Why i put NB52 at right wing? he's the most effective coming in from the right side. as the game goes on, he can interchange with rosicky and vela and play a more central role.

Sunderland have a good pair of CB. also, we have to watch out for Jones and Bent up front. I just hope Clichy and Sagna will stand their ground and do not venture forward too much. Jones is somewhat like Drogba. He can turn on the heat at any time. Bent is just like Rooney, very good positioning sense and killer finishing.

Come on u gunners!!!

hell yeah.. Win +2, 11 more to go. smile.gif

don't really care much about MU dropping points but what the heck.. icing on the cake.

MOTM, eeeeeeeeeBOUE!!!! man.. when i saw his name on the lineup, i knew he'll be most effective. Reason being Sunderland FB kinda slow and u can see how many times Walcott got past them. Sagna should learn from Eboue on how to take on defenders and make that killer low crosses.

Nasri did well too. Song was again solid. Ramsey had his moments but overall did ok alongwith Song. Cesc looked jaded.

Almunia save our arse again. This is the Manny we knew from last season. Decisive. good positioning. effective.

Walcott great pace but lacking final touches.

Bendtner help out a lot in midfield. Kudos to him.

Vermy clearly not comfortable playing on the right side of CB. We need Gallas back and quickly. Silvestre is a disaster waiting to happen. Luckily, his experience makes up for his pace.

Overall, good performance. Hoping that this will spark series of wins for us.

btw, we can't win against big team? so what, we already played all of them. I think only ManCity, Spurs and Fulham poses threat to our quest to the top now. However, we shouldn't take lightly team lower than us. Trips to Brittania against Stoke is always an ugly affair. So does playing at KC against Hull.. and don't forget Birmingham with their on form Joe Hart and also Wigan at JJB. These venues have some of the worst pitch in EPL because the stadiums are usually use for multi purpose events including rugby. So, always have to be caution with these teams. however, i do think we have what it takes to win it all. biggrin.gif

i like ur statement.haha.nway good win for us but not great.if they kept playing the same rhythm n tempo against man.city or spurs, we're dead.great performance by eboue n song.walcott?dis is not his season it seems.fabregas?if we dont win any trophy dis season,he's gone believe me.

drop wallcot, promote eboue as full time winger. how?
*
nah.. that'll only put a halt to his development. Walcott needs more time on the pitch. Eboue has been good coming from FB. Rotating him and Sagna seems like a good idea at the moment.

oh.. forgot to mention Clichy. I've said it before, if he didn't venture forward much and just cover 2/3 of the pitch, it'll be hard for people to get past him. Thankfully, he did that today. only going forward when needed. I think it's because most of our attacks came from the right side and also Nasri was doing a very good job maintaining possession on the left.

eboue shud make gud partnership wif rosicky... or perhaps clichy + rosicky; eboue + arshavin..

walcott lost his touch, jz keep on running - but cant contribute much... shud play as lone striker and wait for long pass perhaps
*
striker is his fav position. It's AW way of nurturing his strikers. RVP came from left wing before. Bendtner did his time on the right. so does Henry. I think Walcott needs his time there and we just need to be patience with him. sure he got the pace but like i said before, he still needs to learn to control and make that killer pass. I'm all for playing him more with Eboue. I can't see him playing with Sagna because Sagna is someone who likes to cross first, think later. hehe sorry but i think that's him.

u mean gabriel agbonlahor? yeah.. i think Walcott should look at gabby and learn when to control, when to shoot and develop more of his upper body. hehe

Well.. defensively, Sagna is more solid compare to Eboue actually. Eboue had his nervy moments at times and if he is on an off day, you'll see his diving antics before long. I think that's why AW still prefer Sagna in RB position. Eventhough he crosses to no one, he did his part in defence though. Our defense mostly leaking from the left side. Clichy has yet to find his form, having been out a lot this season. Pity that Gibbs is out.

should jones score, I think ramsey should be at fault...
IMO ramsey lack the composure in midfield today, he lost a few key possession needlessly on couple of occasion.
wonder what's wrong with him....

anyway on a more positive note, I thought nasri was superb today....taking on players, not shy to shoot...even a bit of skills to show today...
He deserved a goal today...
*
yep.. that's why i said that Silvestre is using his experience to cover for his lost of pace. Ramsey had a decent game but he really needs to learn to make slpit second decision. Overall, it was OK.

Dont forget, Arsenal will face Stoke City away next week. Think of ur team first rathan than thinking of others team. A draw i think SUPER RESULT for Arsenal next week. Remember, last season u lose, this season u lose at Stoke.

halo pakcik.. get ur facts right la. we didn't do to britannia just yet. and earlier this season we won 2-0 against stoke at Emirates.

If Diaby is not around...Eboue will do the penetration job.

dude.. with all the sodomy trial going on right now, that doesn't come out right. heheheh tongue.gif

anyway, stoke just won at the death against Pompey. watched the game, very physical. I really hope Diaby and Gallas will be back.

i'm glad we face everton at goodison park earlier this season.if we face them now,i can't imagine what will happen.even at the emirates they managed to get a draw..

anyway,it's great to get a win and seeing man utd falter after some of my man utd friends calling me loser for supporting a loser team.
*
yep.. David Moyes has done a tremendous job of hanging in there with the players that he got. If AW were to leave/retire, i want Moyes to replace him. biggrin.gif rclxms.gif

QUOTE(super messi @ Feb 21 2010, 12:13 PM)
actually we played really badly yesterday.....if it was a big team we facing we would have paid the price for of converting or chances....we got abundance of chance but there is no end product to it....to say that we played well is a bit too positive...it could have been 9-0 if we convert our chances...
*
yeah we did have chances but did u see how Sunderland defense were throwing themselves at us? practically everytime Cesc touch the ball, someone will tackle him. Whenever Nasri got close, 2 guys will close him down. Bendtner still lack confidence but that'll come with more games. Walcott had a few runs but after that, Steve Bruce decided to put 2 guys on him. U can see McCartney and Richardson were always on his heels. That leaves Eboue quite open and obviously Sunderland didn't think he was a threat. Eboue enjoyed acres of space and was allowed to run into defenders. I think it's because of his diving antics that the defense quite hesitant to tackle him.

So i disagree, we didn't play badly. We played OK enough to deserve the win. Badly? see last week game against Porto.

hehe, read the sameting and Manu's thread. They also says the samething abt moyes replacing SAF
blush.gif

i'm not saying AW will get the boot... but looking at it, Moyes has been on tight budget every year and managed to find players that'll fit into his system. Look at Pienaar, Feillani, Gosling, Arteta, Osman, Anichebe just to name a few. These players were barely heard of and yet they perform really well at top flight level. Speaking of which, Arteta cost 2Mil, Osman cost nothing.. product of Everton Academy, Pienaar 2mil, Gosling free, Anichebe another academy product.... however what i like about Moyes is that he's not shy to spend as AW would. Feillani cost 12M and Bilyaletdinov cost around 8Mil but both are impact players. biggrin.gif

anyway, what the heck i'm talking about Moyes in here. nod.gif

I'm also an admirer of Moyes, but for the bolded part... hehe, Arshavin and Vermaelen? Didn't they bring enough impact upon arrival?
*
yeah... they did. hehe... so he's more like AW eh? perfect! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Gosling? Rodwell? why? we got Walcott and Wilshere coming up. Randall, JET and Sunu waiting to break into the team. Same with Barazite, Norveit and others in the reserves.

BTW, Gosling or Rodwell will cost something like what Walcott cost us.

btw, Roman Pavlyuchenko scored 2 for spuds last nite. We should've got him on loan... oh well... hehe. interesting to see that spuds moved to 4th and increasingly becomes a threat to our title ambition. I hope we'll do well when we have to travel to WHL later in April. I think we have a chance at Stoke this weekend and also a high chance of finishing March with 12 points. Nevertheless, hopefully we'll have Gallas, Eduardo and Arshavin back by next week.
