Just wondering did anyone here use foam tape to cushion the rim of the dumbbell weight plate? I'm having hard time finding the singled sided foam tape. All the shop seems to only sell double sided one.

You are doing that so that you can slam the dumbbells without it making a heck of a noise? Cool idea.

What I do is I usually get TWO of the heavier weight plates (10kg / 5kg plates) rubberised. This is because usually the rubber plates are slightly bigger than the cast iron ones, therefore it makes contact with the ground earlier than the other cast iron ones.

You still prevent the dumbbells from making that horrid noise when you drop it, but still save money.

The cushioning is at the perimeter of the weight plate, so that it wouldn't create a hole on the floor if accidentally drop it...

Too bad I already got a set of cast iron dumbbell, no plan to buy rubberize plate as it would cost much more than the foam tape...
