So newbie thought he should set F/1.8 1/640 ISO200 at similar lighting (just assume) then put -1 EV?

Then exposure wrong d right?

blending mode "normal"
fairly new to PS and this was my first few attempts on doing this. How can I do better?

Try Overlay or Soft Light and adjust the layer opacity.

I'd meter for the subject 1st, then if sky still too strong and got time, i'd bracket on a tripod, else, use RAW in times like these, then easier to pull back the highlights.

at least that's how i shot this anyway



normally, i'd use soft light, it blends better than overlay. overlay a bit too strong for my taste
