hi im ur senior then haha~ basically orientation ROCKS! tiring but really fun...dun skip it pls.

lecture just 2 hours per day...so u need a lot of self study...but for me, i personally think 2 hours is really sufficient as I prefer to study on my own...and we got stuffs like problem based learning, medical museum session and some lab practical as well...most of the lecturers are good, just wait till u come to imu then i think seniors will tell u more about the lecturer... biggrin.gif

Sounds like a sem 1 or 2 student... Wait until you do electives and see what india med school students are capable of.

On another note, I dont like orientation, so I basically skipped half of it. Its OK to skip, just give them some reason for your absences, after a few days they will get the message.

For phase 1, yes... Phase 2 should be on par with them, cant say much coz I haven't start my phase 2 yet.
India students memorise lots more stuff than us, I'm not sure whether its useful, but knowing more is better right??

station 6 : tetanus toxoid IM injection
Demonstrate
1. proper handwashing technique
2. preparation of the patient
3. precautions during administration

embarassingly, only imu students will
forget to check the patient's id on the perscription with the patient's name tag
mistakenly glove before opening the syringe and needle in the kidney dish.
give the injection to the arm with the fistula

hundreds of needles and syringe wasted just like that. if they did it right it's a diff story.

my point is, wonder no more, @imamaxis. look at the students not the uni (or the marketing prowess of the uni for that matter). if they are well-versed with procedures from early on, then only the uni is worth mentioning. what use is a medstudent without clinical skills i haven't the slightest

So am I correct to say tat if i wish to specialise after getting a IMU(LOCAL)-MBBS my best bet is USA
since US is highly meritocratic when it comes to qualification for medicine??
