Bro, you dunno what is AGPS and GPS then how you gonna use it?
GPS = use satelite signal AGPS = use your Telco tower signal to indicate your location instead. |

Post at the right thread.
You can ask the Nexus One community here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1294834 Or question related to GPS here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/795928 |

Everyone..if you guys are not sure or not a N1 user..please do not post non-sense.
Nexus One uses GPS..it has both AGPS and GPS. Having saving that, the default navigation software is disabled outside USA. So far, i do not see any good GPS software like garmin etc..but i'm sure it will come out soon. Hope this helps |

QUOTE(MyWifeCar @ Feb 3 2010, 11:08 AM) Bro, you dunno what is AGPS and GPS then how you gonna use it? your explanation is not correct either...GPS = use satelite signal AGPS = use your Telco tower signal to indicate your location instead. both are using satellite to track your position,,, the only difference is in AGPS, telco cell information is used to assist in locking process so that locking process is much faster . but you can turn off the "A" function if u don't want to incur data charges. |

N1 uses both GPS and AGPS. GPS is definately more accurate. However like everyone mentioned, Agps uses Gps with assistance of telco tower in areas where there is obstruction like buildings or trees, etc.
Google navigation works here, but voice navigation turn by turn is only available in the States so far. So no voice for us for now, but still can see the map being plotted. |

Just got clear up some confusion here.
To simply put it, GPS on most phones allow them to receive GPS signals from the sky and then calculate your position on the map. However, the process of doing this is slow and requires a lot computing power. Some even say its slow due to the limited computing power of the phone. So enter AGPS. Its essentially the same GPS but now with software assistance. What kind of assistance? It now uses your phone's data capabilities to connect to a 'GPS server' to download coordinates and other essential parameters and effectively reduce the time it takes to lock on a position. That is because the 'GPS server' obviously have more computing power and resources. So let the hard work be done off the phone. Put into case, the Nexus One has GPS and it also uses your data to get a position fix. |
