How long battery life does Lenovo Y460 and Asus A42JR have?lets say just web browsing. Oh and any news on when UL30JT will reach malaysia?
*
Y460 should be able to reach around 3 hours or more in Intel GMA mode...
A42Jr should be less than that...

Not really, GPU and HDD can contribute as well, and also depends on the notebook cooling system design as well.

Which one to go, will depends on your need, CULV is enough for basic needs.

QUOTE(c.sin.BB @ Mar 21 2010, 02:18 PM)
er around 5k to 6k also can.
Gaming , surfing net , movie .
what does it means Murco.Asia get 5k?
screen size dont need too small .
*
Import the G51Jx, from http://www.mucro.asia/index.php?/Asus-Note...s-G51Jx-A1.html
its RM5K not including shipping,
5K-6K can consider Sager NP8690, 15.6'', i7-720QM + Nvidia GTX285M/ATi HD5870, one of best 15'' available...
http://www.mucro.asia/index.php?/Mucro-Sag...ger-NP8690.html

or don't want import then Asus N61Ja, i5 520M + ATi HD5730@RM4999, Acer 5942G, i7 720QM + ATi HD5650@RM4799, or Dell Studio XPS 16, starting from RM3999

QUOTE(Dextrolidin @ Mar 21 2010, 03:18 PM)
Greetings all

I am seeking a new laptop

Brand:Any
Screen Size:14"
Battery life:around 6hours
Budget: 3-3.5k
Purpose:Video Rendering and gaming

just wondering is there a laptop with around 2.0GHz++ that can run up to 6 hours?oh and by battery life does it means on run or on stand by?..sorry my first laptop so there is a lot of things i don't know.
*
Power don't come with long battery life,
though your best bet would be either Lenovo Y460, i5 430M + ATi HD5650@RM3599 (might be hot) or if can strech budget, Asus N82Jv, i5 520M + Nvidia GT 335M@RM3999, both come with switcable GPU, so you can run in GMA mode if want battery life and vice versa. Though I doubt it would reach 6 hours, 3-4 hours might be feasible, depends usage.
Or can wait the release for Acer TimelineX series, should be around April, price and spec unknown...

QUOTE(cyclonez @ Mar 21 2010, 04:25 PM)
any comments on the acer ferrari 11" ??? any good and bad bout it?
*
Good specs for its size but low battery life...

QUOTE(chorz @ Mar 21 2010, 05:39 PM)
recommended laptop >rm1.8k, for gaming..???
*
You mean unlimited budget (more than RM 1.8K)?

QUOTE(chorz @ Mar 21 2010, 06:20 PM)
any model from dell for gaming below 1.8k???
*
Nope, closest is Inspiron 14 with HD4330 which is still weaker with other alternative, for your budget, best bet is Lenovo G455, AMD M320 + ATi HD4550@RM1749, though I still wouldn't say this as gaming notebook, the budget is simply too low...

QUOTE(hadoupening @ Mar 21 2010, 08:54 PM)
Hmm, okay then, does anyone know which CULV equipped laptop generates the least heat, if screen size does not matter?
*
Pretty much all CULV should be remain cool, that's their purpose, now the issue is what's the budget?

QUOTE(littleman @ Mar 21 2010, 09:09 PM)
I'm asking this on behalf of my friend.

Budget : below 2K.
Usage: office use, internet etc..

Any recommendation? preferably from Lenovo.
*
Can consider Lenovo Thinkpad SL400...

QUOTE(samsoong @ Mar 21 2010, 09:46 PM)
2k budget recommendation guys?
Things i usually do - movie, photoshop, music
*
Acer 4740, i5 430M@RM1999

QUOTE(fRoStLIM @ Mar 21 2010, 10:42 PM)
I plan to buy the Compaq CQ41-214TX.
About this laptop, is it suitable for gaming?
Any bad comment on this laptop?
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 32-bit

Intel® Core™ i5-430M processor

ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4350 Graphics

Internet Price: RM$ 2,549

Or anyone can recommend the lappy that better than above, budget up to Rm3k.
*
For that budget, you can consider Dell Vostro 3700, 17.3'', i5 430M + Nvidia GT 330M@RM2849, currently the best GPU available under RM3k.
or Asus A42Jr, 14'', i5 520M + ATi HD5470@RM2999.
or if performance comes first, BenQ S42, P8700 + Nvidia 9600M GT@RM2699

*
i7 is not available under 3K...
Can consider Asus A42Jr, i5 520M + ATi HD5470@RM2999
or if really insist on dell, Dell Vostro 3400, i5 520M + Nvidia 310M@RM2999 or Dell Inspiron 14, i5 430M + ATi HD4330@RM2499

QUOTE(littleman @ Mar 21 2010, 11:05 PM)
just checked Lenovo G455 specs.

AMD processor? I had some terrible experience with AMD Turion on my compaq.

Is this durable?
*
Well, its the latest generation, should be cooler than the last time.
Is it compaq v3000 series?

Well, about the screen size, its much better if you could go to store and look at it by yourself since it is a very subjective matter, just need to find similar size notebook to compare...

As for under RM2500,
11.6'', can consider Acer 1810TZ@RM1899
12'', can consider MSI Wind U200@RM1799
13.3'', can consider Dell Vostro V13@RM2399, If you go with this model, I strongly suggest go with the 4GB model since this model only got 1 ram slot and 4GB a piece still expensive nowadays...
14'', can consider Dell Inspiron 14z@RM2349

The downside of V13 is its battery life, only 2-3 hours...
Asus UL30Vt, RM2899, SU7300 overclocked to 1.73GHz, Nvidia G210M/GMA 4500M HD,battery life around 6 hours...
HP DM3, Nvidia G105M@RM3199
Acer 3810T, SU9400@RM2899
Thinkpad Edge 13@RM2880
Toshiba T130@R3099

The rest spec is similar with V13...

Well, it has better CPU but its on pre-order, so you might need to wait around 3-4 weeks while those two available on shops smile.gif
If you can wait, then consider Vostro 3400/3500.

More than enough, the ati graphic card would generate extra heat and lower the battery life though...

Did you tried to pm hikari85? I remember she sold Y460 already...

3-4 hours still feasible, you just need to switch to intel gpu if want to reach that battery life, and also if web browsing contain a lot of flash like youtube, it might also lower the battery life...

Hi guys, i'm going to get a netbook for myself.. budget around 1.5K..
just for normal use, no gaming.. any brand will do buy i heard many say that acer is a no no..
That day i saw Gigabyte TouchNote, around 1.4K.. is it worth to buy? kinda cool with the touch screen.. hehe^^
*
Any exact model? Can't find its spec...
Though for netbook, just pick the one you like, design/price/battery life wise since the performance for them is practically the same...
