planning to get Dell 14R, i5-430M + HD5470 + 4GB ram, RM2899, is it a good choice, or are there better options?

also, need another laptop recommendation for my friend, for office work, battery should be long lasting as well as good build quality, 13" to 14", preferably from Dell, was thinking of Vostro 3400. Any recommendations?

thanks in advance notworthy.gif

Asus A42Jk/A42F is your only choice if still insisting on Asus and 14"...if you don' t really care about the size then Vostro 3700 would be a nice choice for a graphic design student nod.gif..a bigger workspace can help a lot nod.gif

Others that can be in consideration :
Acer 4740G (i5 430M + 310M) @RM2499
Acer 4745G (i5 430M + HD5470/GMA) @RM2699
Dell Vostro 3400 (i5 430M + Intel HD) @RM2379

Dell Inspiron 14R is a nice choice of laptop nod.gif..should be ok for medium gaming and also doing work apps nod.gif..there are sure better options, but at least we need to know what are your usage before can recommend you any laptop nod.gif

As for your friend, what is the exact budget?? Well, Acer 4820TG also nice and the battery life is awesome too, and your choice of 3400 should be ok for your friend if insisting on getting Dell tongue.gif

HD5650 is better in terms of gaming, its a DX11 powered card so can play games with DX11 while GT335M is a DX10.1 card, but then again as we know nVidia write better driver than ATi..

Budget: ~RM4k
Main uses: Photo editing & surfing
Special Requirements: Large LCD (>14") & accurate colors, Batt life >3 hours
Preferred OS: Windows

I know a whole bunch of ppl r gonna recommend that I get the mac book for this kind of requirements & price range, but I don't wish to spend extra time learning a new OS.

Hope some of the guys here can help ^^

@solarflare
As far as i know and all those in Y460 thread, Y460 don't have any heat problem, the reviews (well some of it) are from a Y460 running for 12 hours on load straight, even a normal laptop with Integrated would heat up too nod.gif

Lenovo Y460 should be a good choice considering your budget, take the one with i5 540M nod.gif..

full HD + HD56xx series / HD57xx series ..?..currently.. non in your budget

the nearest is Dell Studio XPS 16 [i5 430M spec + HD4670] .. which is around RM 4099

HD4670 is slightly lose to HD5650 and not support DirectX 11..
