there is currently 4 types of psp that can be recategorized to subtypes

PSP1000 aka Phat - fully hackable
PSP2000 aka Slim and Lite - some are fully hackable and some are not
PSP3000 aka Brite - not fully hackable
PSPGo can only run homebrew using HBL but not CFW

Fully hackable means the PSP can use Pandora Battery to downgrade FW, install CFW permanently
Not fully hackable means can run CFW by using ChickHEN, CFW is not permanent and reboot into OFW when restarted, can't use Pandora Battery

add a little bit PSP 2000 (partial hackable) /PSP 3000 only when official firmware at 5.03 are chickHEN hackable, higher than this can only play UMD games, no homebrews

but OFW 5.04 and upper can't do CFW for the unhackable one

er..... theres a shop in bangsar shopping complex. Playtime electronic, search around online for the number i got a fairly good deal for my psp3k. Bought it this year. If you buy from them, try to buy it when Tim (owner) is around as he will normally give better deals, as in more free items I made the mistake if buying when he wasnt there and his workers cant give more free accessories.

As for KL, im not too sure la, but imho, i try to avoid the shops in Sg. Wang as i had a bad experience with one of the shops there last time. I know, just because one shop is bad doesnt mean the rest will be bad, but that experience alone was enough to stop me buying things from Sg. Wang, especially electronics

try bring it to trusted game shop, like TIM in bangsar or bernard moh to fix it.
Now a day PSP replacement part is everywhere they should be able to fix your PSP in no time.
