QUOTE(/b/_forevah! @ Apr 20 2010, 02:08 PM) Greetings, I recommend upgrading to 5.00 m33-6 first before jumping to 5.50 GEN D3.It has been long since I've played with my PSP Fat, the original PSP-1000 since my battery went kaput. Now, I've bought myself a new battery for it. But, it's still running on a dated custom firmware which is 3.71 M33-4. Can someone please guide me on how to upgrade it to the latest custom firmware? I believe I can't straight update it to the 5.50 custom firmware, or can I? Thanks. Because you don't want to be like this fella over here http://forums.pspslimhacks.com/user-help/3...n-d-freeze.html QUOTE(gundamalpha @ Apr 20 2010, 04:43 PM) Here you gohttp://dl.qj.net/psp/homebrew-applications...2009-07-09.html This post has been edited by WooTz: Apr 21 2010, 06:26 PM |

QUOTE(aaron_15ryderz @ May 8 2010, 10:04 AM) guys, i just installed MGS:Peace Walker.. Peace Walker will crash when you load missions on GEN D3everthing is fine except my psp shuts down itself when loading the 1st chapter of the game. this also happens when i play kenka bancho badass rumble.. izit my firmware or the game itself problem? currently using gend3 wif psp2000 v2 motherboard. Backup your precious save data then downgrade to D2 and disable some game plugins like Remotejoy and everything should be fine. Try Google for a patched version of Kenka Bancho, I don't remember having any problems the last time I played it. This post has been edited by WooTz: May 9 2010, 05:55 AM |

If I'm not mistaken, socom FTB3 require players to have an online PSN activation code before allowing infrastructure gameplay.
If you want to access PSN for other games you can try this handy plugin: http://www.qj.net/qjnet/psp/psp-homebrew-p...r-beta-v11.html |

If you didn't buy the game then the simple answer is no. You just can't go play online if you don't have the code that comes with the game.

QUOTE(keropi88 @ May 15 2010, 03:33 PM) how much u bought the ftb3 umd ? It IS possible to play online using CFW, but the methods used are pretty troublesome. i actually un mind buying those games tat i think its worth, like peace walker or ftb3.. but the thing is .. the issue of entering the psn is CFW, not the game itself .. tat means if i bought the UMD i still need to delete my CFW in order to go PSN.. then i sacrificed other downloaded games ~ correct me if im wrong .. Here, watch this: You STILL need the activation code for this to work. http://onehitgamer.com/forum/socom-fire-te...nline-code.html Hope that helps. QUOTE(waeguk @ Jun 12 2010, 11:06 AM) Thinking of compressing some movies to watch on psp. Using XviD4PSP, 512kbps bitrate for video and 128kbps for audio gives me around 100MB for a 24 minute anime.Anyone knows the best settings (eg. video frame/bitrate, audio bit/sample rate) to get smallest file size and optimum video quality, aside from pixel 480 x 272 resolution? Video and audio quality is superb. 480 x 272 is more than enough for the PSP's screen, unless you plan on using your television for display. |

QUOTE(waeguk @ Jun 13 2010, 09:27 AM) Thanks. If you're using XviD4PSP, you can follow these few simple steps:Aside from video bitrate, how about optimum framerate or encode pass? Same for audio, how about audio codec, sample rate ? QUOTE Installing v5.037.5 is much the same as v4.115, just leave all the option boxes checked, just change the installation folder to something different if you intend on running both the older and newer versions at the same time. You can have both versions of the program instlaled at the same time safely, just install them to different folders, they won't interfere with eachother that way. Once the program has started, click the Open button and find the video you want to convert. Open it and wait for the Caching process to finish, once you see the preview of the video, then you select the video type you want to convert to. Underneath the Open button, it says "Format", with several dropdown boxes. In the top box choose MP4 PSP AVC, leave the Denoise/Sharpen box, and the Brightness/Contrast box alone for now. Next to the Video Encoding box is a button with the letter E on it, click that button. In the new popup box that opens up, where it says "Encoding Mode", choose 2-Pass Bitrate. Where it says "Bitrate (kbps)" choose 512, leave all the rest of the boxes alone and press the OK button. Click the E button next to the "Audio Encoding" box, and choose the bitrate you want, for now, set it to 64 and press the OK button. The main reason for these settings is because they produce a known result, you'll get right around 200MB per hour of running time with these settings, and the quality will be good. Go up to the top and click the Save button, choose the output file destination, and save it. It's now added to the batch, if you want to add anymore videos to the batch, just repeat the steps above until you're done adding videos. Once you're done adding all the videos you want, just click the Encode button at the top and wait for it to finish. Taken from: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/918340-psp/55068889 |

QUOTE(shark7 @ Jun 14 2010, 02:13 PM) does it convert the video from .avi to .mp4 is much faster than psp video 9 ?? I'll let Mr. Kurgan explain the basics of conversion time:video around 2 hours usually takes how long to convert ? and does it have sharper image than video 9 ? what are the other advantage than psp video 9 ? QUOTE 1. The running length of the original file, longer movies take longer to convert, duh. 2. The resolution of the original file, higher resolution files take longer to shrink down to the PSP's resolution, especially going from 1080p down to 480x272. 3. The speed of your PC. If you have a slow PC that hasn't been upgraded in years, it's going to take longer to convert videos. 4. The amount of crap you have running in the background on your PC. Got 70+ processes running in the background that you're not using??? Turn that crap off, they sap valuable system resources and drastically slow down conversion speeds. 5. The SETTINGS YOU CHOOSE for the conversion. Extra options like Sharpening, Saturation changes, Hard-Subbing, and other visual filters add a lot of time to a conversion, use those ONLY if you want a quality final product or you're outputting to a TV. The best thing to do is to set up a batch to run while you SLEEP and set Xvid4PSP to shut your PC off when it's done, so then you won't care about how long it takes, and when you wake up, you'll have new stuff to transfer to your PSP. The older version of Xvid4PSP is better to do this with because the Shutdown command works on a batch, and it doesn't work on a batch in the newer version. And here's something you DON'T want to hear...........you CANNOT have fast conversions and good quality, those things are mutually exclusive, you can either have the slower conversion and the superior final video quality, or you get a fast conversion and crap video quality, you CANNOT have them both. Since I was free today I've personally tested PSP video 9 myself and this is my quick review: PSP video 9 I've used this setting to convert: MPEG-4 AVC 480x272 768kbps Stereo/128kbps Conversion time took around 22 mins for a 24 mins video (my computer is pretty old so yeah) File size: 153MB Screenshot: ![]() XviD4PSP The setting is the same with my previous post. Conversion time is roughly the same as PSP video 9 File size: 115MB ![]() Lastly, XviD4PSP doesn't have annoying advertisements like PSP Video 9. |

XviD4PSP can adjust the brightness, contrast, and saturation too.
I just disabled it for simplicity, didn't really want to mess those settings. |

PSP Go is a console that does not even play some of PSP's older games, and not every new PSP games will be released on the PSN. And then there is the outrageous pricing.
I believe that's enough reason for you to avoid PSP Go completely. |
