hi all. currently i'm looking for a PSP but i'm a bit confused. Is there any big diiference or advantage if i chose PSP3000 over PSP2000. i tried googling and it seems PSP3000 has better screen, (anti-glare, more vivid). was really that better or practically the same? I know the hassle of PSP3000 CFW, but i think its just a matter of time till sumone bypass it. my concerns is more on hardware.
and how was the ability on online surfing, any noticible difference?

not much difference. the noticable one already stated by you sir adz. it's about clearer LCD. you can play under the sun with psp3000. psp1000 and 2000 can't play even in car on a bright day.

but i can tell you something more. 3k internals is much cheaper than 2k but almost the same as 1k. spare parts like LCD or even motherboards. also, 3k have reduced their internal parts imo.

some problem like analog control moving on it's own, this should not happen in psp3000 as they have already replaced rubber plastic contact that were used in 1k & 2k analog modules. they now use ribbon cable stickied in 3k analog modules.

about 3k security, personally i don't think psp devs will ever be bypass them. so dat means they'll nvr be fully hacked?

and finally, abt online surfing i don't think there is difference between them. never heard of it.

By economy standpoint that would be true, since you are just paying for server and game making fees instead of game making fees + physical production + shipping fees + storage costs + employment costs. But Sony thinks otherwise, DL games are for the richer so they charge more.

Well, some games DID sell less than the UMD counterparts. But Tekken 6 on PSN = USD39.99, i say go to Hell.

yesterday just dropped my psp3k on the floor... no scratches but the umd door a bit loose..

the region 3's only RM115
outside of the box writing "region 3" everything else is the same

but only by a few RM
despite the fact that they threw away the box,manual,UMD, they only made it cheaper by a few RM.

still prefer the UMD.....
though in Peace Walker's case, i'd honestly not mind buying both versions
as of today,with regards to Sony's current gen consoles(therefore ps2 notwithstanding) it means nothing.
but if you're going to buy UMD videos(which you probably will not,since it's better for you to download the vids into your mspd) different region PSPs cant play different region UMD Videos.

example:
Region 3 PSP
Region 2 UMD Video.

cannot be played.

so far i've heard of only ONE UMD GAME that employs region restriction.
but it's a crap game,anyway,so no big deal

2k are mostly refurbished or second hand PSPs,so if you want a totally new PSP,3k's the way to go.

if possible leave clock speed as default, higher clock speed drains battery faster.
Certain games will automatically set clock speed higher due to more intense graphic and etc

chickhen just enables your psp to run some homebrew and some emulators. for everything else you need of course custom firmware.

either cfwenabler 3.70 or 5.03 gen-c or 5.03 prometheus. it's needed to install cfw in your psp.

since gen-c updater is a homebrew, it can't be run straight from an official firmware.

i think there is no "latest version" but somehow i got this file from my fren. what it really does is act as a replacement for chickhen R2. faster and not a single fail to restart in chickhen firmware.
