okey guys..
I have just watched the advertisement at 300am
New Astro channel
ASTRO ARENA LAUNCHING 26 MARCH 2010
CHANNEL 801

Its a channel where all the sports will be Malaysians involved
So they have new channel for football, badminton, squash and so on
I think cool la..at least we get to see Malaysians in sports more often icon_rolleyes.gif

Another thing i read on Astro FB was like below..

Hi Tipi - Thank you for your feedback. We're working on introducing new HD channels including an Astro Branded channel, do stay tuned smile.gif

Astro Branded HD channel? wow..
*
There they go again ! As anticipated, they always like to hv their own channels to hv full control, they can repeat for a lifetime saving costs ,they never allow foreing channels they only allow channels which wld listen to them vmad.gif By the way they wld introduce a few channels soon to compete with TMIPTV whch takes off on 24th and Arena is part of it, competetion makes things better hope TM takes off nationwide without delay hmm.gif

Which is the problem. My point is it's possible to use IPTV using streamyx, even over a 1MB/s connection, as DETV has shown. Only thing is TM dun want to make TM-IPTV available to Streamyx users. Their marketing people probably thought that by limiting TM-IPTV to HSBB they can force people to get HSBB in order to get TM-IPTV. If that's the case, they forgot about the rest of the country where TM will NOT roll out HSBB where there's also market for the channels they carry on TM-IPTV.
*
Perhaps we can ask TM to explain why Detv can and why Tm cant ? hmm.gif

History has proven whoever who doesnt go nationwide dies ! TMIPTV maybe a failure cos its channels may not be a pull the moment cos World cup is on everyones minds, so they cannot convince a small market but if they take off nationwide even for those with Streamyx connections until HSBB comes ( AS BRO RAMYCHYLD HAS POINTED OUT ) in then they may survive, they must pull more chinese and Indians customers bcos these people pay the most for asto and get too little. We have to pay at least RM140 to get a decent packaging not to watch but just to browse cos there is nothing New to watch anyway!
MITV was popular among Indians cos Indians moved to it cos of choices of channels and cos it was LIVE and not fixed and malaysianised like asto's Indian pack . If TM can pull the Indians and chinese then someone wld feel the loss . Sad to say MITV is a thing of the past and gone for reasons best known to itself. IF package is good and cheap we wl take TMIPTV why not ? drool.gif Start nationwide if not you REGRET !!! From what I see our friend is NOT the least shaken and does not consider TM as threat !
DETV too should venture into pulling all races to subscribe then to be like now. hmm.gif If they can provide Indian programming and more variety I wl take it right away and terminate this fellow !
I still dont know why HyppoTv still sucks with streamyx connection !

I'm not saying that it will happen in the future bro, I'm just saying that I won't be surprised if it happens.

My reason for not being surprised is this: Astro has dropped high profile channels from it's lineup before. Sumore Astro is not interested in bringing in Cartoon Network's sister channel Boomerang Asia (that's what the CS told me in my last call to them, it was among the list of channels I requested). And regarding that new Disney channel, there's no news of them being interested to bring it in either. And of course the BBC channels other than BBC World News. If they cannot bother to commit to have the full channel line-up, would they even bother to maintain current line-up?
*
Assto wl never take channels which wld not listen to them they want full control of the channels . Just wait n see u wl have more in house HD channels or upscaled to HD soon hmm.gif

Not sure. They won't even answer phone now.
Hope it's true. But if it's 5 local in-house channels, what use is it?
Agreed.

BBC jumping on to HyppTV | Print | E-mail
Written by Rose Major
Monday, 22 March 2010 10:14
Telekom Malaysia’s IPTV platform, HyppTV, is adding three BBC Worldwide channels to its slate.

BBC Lifestyle, BBC Knowledge and CBeebies will be free to all HyppTV users from launch on March 29 until September.

Mark Whitehead, BBC Worldwide Channels Asia’s general manager said: “Malaysia is an important market for BBC Worldwide and our partnership with TM builds on our commitment to bring great quality programming to more viewers in Asia.”

Currently, only BBC World News is already available in Malaysia, on the network of dominant pay-TV operator Astro All Asia Networks.

HyppTV relaunched a year ago, in March 2009.

GDP ? what the .... Assto did not bother about GDP! if GDP area so what not all in GDP area are interetsed in TMIPTV, my point if you dont go nationwide u surely die !! Do it like India pay less then RM50 you have 100 over channels to play with not stuck up with limited crap for allmost RM150! If TMIPTV above RM100 then surely die even in GDP area ! rclxm9.gif

TM , offers nothing soooooooooooo interesting it may find problems marketing morever going nationwide seems to be impossible in the near future, what they can do go nationwide using streamyx until HSBB is made availiable nationwide. Even RTM which boasted HD postponed !! hmm.gif

I'll take it for the IPTV alone, but they don't cover Klang yet mad.gif  vmad.gif

Sad to note its actually too expensive and definately wld fail cos RM150 is too much. IPTV should not be bundled. Looks lika another packaging strategy ! Mitv started at RM50 and could have been the cheapest and the perfect choice for the middle income unfortunately it failed and its failure still remains a mystery ! Things seem to be very uncertain for unifi from wat I c hmm.gif

Assto can do business withonly AsianVersion crap based in Hong Kong,it cannot do business with International channels cos they wont listen to or bow to Asto's demands and rules. Thats why we saw international channels like BBCE ,MGM ,DWTV take off. They put all sorts of conditions and turn channels into shit, see what happened to Disney ?International channels have thier standards.Look at Mio and Starhub channels there is a free flow of channels no conditions attached by the providers.Look at NGC they hv wild , adventure and now Music! Here ? Now the NGC HD got nothing new started repeating already so nothing to watch ! hmm.gif

Discovery HD ia a false alarm I think cos when watching Star I did see a commercial on Fox channels coming on one or two occassions , as our friends have said it could be feeds not removed.anyway just hope and wait drool.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Do you really think it's Astro fault? or Malaysia's overbearing censorship laws, and governmental paranoia, which are at fault?

International channels don't want their programmes censored and edited.

Makes me wonder if TM is censoring the BBC and DWTV feeds, or if the government has agreed to just look the other way?
*
I think its the providers fault they attach to many strings to the contract I think and afterall we are talking about normal channels . Another scenario Star Chinese Movie cannot bcos Celestial Movie cannot do business as long celestial Movie is there no other chinese movie channels . Why cant they give us HBO pack NGC pack, Discovery pack? Just bcos part of BBC went to TM they kicked BBCE out ! Wow real big bully !! The question of censoring does not arise cos even the NEWS feeds are delayed by 5 mins to allow censorship.
What else do u think is stopping them ? hmm.gif

So could it be that Astro only wants channels that have recent and up-to-date programmes on their network?
N they want programmes that is the talk of the town around the world?
There are so many channels that offer new programming
Just look at FOX and SKY TV offerings..that would be a great addition to Astro's lineup
N would definitely pull more subscribers in
If TM are after BBC, Astro should pull out all the stops to get FOX or even Sky TV from the UK
*
Asian crap is cheap ! You can dump everything here and best part you can keep repeating for ages in the name of satelite broadcasting !! I dont think we wl hv any UK direct channels, profits seem to matter not customer satisfaction ! We hv to wt until those UK channels start Asian versions ! hmm.gif rclxms.gif
