hi guys
the only change to this release (1.2) was the fit to screen option replacing the zoom.

the changes to the 1.1 release which still stand for 1.2 are

The aspect ratio button on the remote has been activated
The radio button on the remote has been activated
Now there is a screen saver setting for the radio section
You should now be seeing some added icons on the EPG.

Gone is the black screen when channel surfing to HD channels which occasionaly hit some users
The "infomation not available" on the epg banner should be gone, but if you just power on your decoder it may take a little time to fully load the listings. Also keep in mind that when looking ahead a few days in the EPG you may come across this as some channels may not have sent the info yet.

On a side note, good to see the b.yond sig banner coming back to your posts. Would someone kindly point me to the earlier post which explained how to do that? I can't find it.

Oh, BTW. I'm off overseas tomorrow night for a week so forgive me if I don't reply to any question on here or my blog while I'm away.

Any one of you realise that the new fit to screen not only back but certain programmes actually not full screen but having top & bottom chopped off...Anyway I feel this format given a better PQ compare to the stretch mode or even zoom
*
you only just notice this?
It's called 4:3 letterbox, & if you'll pardon the segway, just so happens to be covered in my very first blog post from almost a year ago

So why only bring up MCMC when you have an issue with Astro? Don't they regulate TM too?
Never see anyone putting up partitions about their service!

why don't they just upscale the current ESPN feed... although they should really do that on ESPNHD
*
a few of reasons why not to,

It is ESPN's channel not Astro's, Therefore it is ESPN's call.
What is the point of up-scaling a 100% 4:3 channel? You will be not get a wide screen image and you won't be able to change the AR to fit to Screen
Waste of transponder space.
Probably the most important reason...You guys would complain about.

i am here very happy with ASTRO ARENA.. finally more option to watch local football...

Added on March 26, 2010, 11:30 pm

Justin... i wonder if you have any idea about ASTRO ARENA camera facility capacity?

can they, for example,  silmuteniously shoot and record 8 MSL Match in different venue and compile a good higlight show with all the goals scored in the week..

do they have the enough camea and manpower?
*
It's all logistics isn't it. If they have crews at all games and can get the video back in time for edit then sure...but I don't know if they have the crews?

I thought everyone loved (eventually) the fact that F1 was on ESPNHD despite knowing it was upscaled smile.gif

ESPN HD is not the same group that runs normal ESPN in Asia. ESPN & Star Sports formed a JV in Asia to get the BPL rights and not bid against each other, therefore avoiding pushing the price up. The JV are known as ESS. ESPN HD is not part of this JV as far as I know.

I'm not talking from Astro's perspective here, I have no idea why it was pulled but my thoughts are more that the channel sucked. Content was old, I saw programmes on there that were on air in the UK 10 years ago when I lived there. None of the new shows were less then a year old & all the serial programmes are freely avaiable in pirate DVD shops here, BBC don't understand Asian TV markets. I got to a point where I paid for a VPN and watched the BBCiPlayer website.

hermm.. that was recorded in HD but not broadcasted in HD...

But I do know that RTM is capable of broadcasting in HD as they have done a couple of test I think in HD broadcast around Klang Valley...
*
God that makes me laugh. Have RTM no attention to detail?

They are using a web browser to show the map! Do they even have rights to do that? why didn't they set it to full screen? You can still see the address and tool bars of the browser.

They have 2 different sizes and brands of TV's and TV stands and the cables are just hanging loosely below the TV's. Her hair is all over the place and is that a name tag she has on?

So the Dual-LNB connects directly to both decoders and not through a splitter? Guess have to rewire...
*
Yes it must connect directly to both deocders.
