QUOTE(ar188 @ Jan 23 2010, 10:30 PM) IMHO, black level cannot replicate the awesomeness of large screen effect.. In DLP, if one of the micro mirrors become stuck, u get a dead pixel.with normal 42-50inch plasma you are still reminded you watching TV.. of course that's why anfielddude got a huge 60incher Added on January 23, 2010, 10:30 pm what dead pixel?? |

QUOTE(ar188 @ Jan 23 2010, 11:17 PM) I think quite rare.. their QC should be very good.. manufacturer would reject the chip before using them? Mostly, its caught in QC as the mirrors become stuck during early hours (Early Failure Rate), however, it is possible that due to the wafer fab process that during the manufacturing there is a defect that causes the mirror to be unable to move. As *I has all the patents on micro mirrors (DLP), we all know who to blame. Although, there are reportedly new players coming. |

reading more details on the new 3D glasses technology, it may require a transmitter from the TV to control the active shutter on the glasses.. (hence why pana giving away 2 glasses with their new 3D TVs, not to mention HDMI 1.4 required for FULLHD 3D)... if that is the case, I think not very attractive to spend so much (5figures) on old TV models liao..

If 3D excites u, and u can wait, then I think u shd.In my opinion, we will see 3D fully mature in 2-3yrs time. End Q3/Q4 2010 there are some titles being planned for 3D release, they will be the beta kind of releases. Also the studios will take time to adopt. Why? The need to ensure that this investment is something that will be around for at least 5yrs, else the ROI is not there. See how long it took for BD to at least reach where it has today...However, I think 3D excites a lot of people, so the hype is there. We will see. 2011 is the real test. Panny only has 1 display that will support 3D in 2010, Sammy more. The rest of the manufacturers are embracing it, but have not really announced the displays that will support it en mass. I am waiting for the projector guys to make the 2010 announcements. I also expect more changes to the HDMI specs before the 3D matures. |

Hopefully, those big studios will embrace it as well. I shall adopt 'wait and see' stance for now. I am keen on 3D FHD pj.In my opinion, we will see 3D fully mature in 2-3yrs time. another thing to ponder is will your whole HDMI supply chain (amp/BDplayer/what not) be compromised and stuck at 1.3 profile for the next 5years, if have to use the TV for 5 years due to ROI again due to high investment cost?
I'm not sure if everything drops to the lowest version for HDMI? anyone can confirm? |
