I am not someone frequently buy IT related stuff but i do maintain my own desktop which will have hardware failure in every 6 month (can not help it, i am heavy duty user, it was different item everytime but never OC). But most of the time it was from TM, So i will come to get RMA. So far most of the time it was satisfactory and never get hasty. Congrats and keep the good work..

Thanks abubin for your comment. I do agree with you, actually, that even with heavy usage your PC should not fail every 6 months.. Heck my own self-assembled PC lasted well over 2 years before it started failing. However I think we should hear from him on what exactly he means by 6 months, perhaps the desktop was built and upgraded with different parts over different times so it just happens that each component fails after 2-3 years but at a frequency of once every 6 months or so... which, in my personal opinion is understandable I suppose.

sleep_snore, perhaps you can elaborate further?
*
to be exact.. 6 month is average

a summary of 2 unit of desktop

i do not know why they fail (i know what leads to it)
the GC overheat (fan mulfunction)
the hdd fails (bad sector)
the current amd motherboard is unstable.
if other peripheral were assemble in another mobo and proc it will work as fine as new
massive virus attack (unreliable AV)
irresponsible colleageu
use as data transit for house mate
electrical leakage (all possible grounding has been made so its not my fault)
long operating hours (office pc never been use as playstation 8 hours straight)
now cannot even format.. take out the hdd, format on other cpu that put it back
dvdrom not functional anymore (can not read dvd even for formatting)
system says the DVD is functioning..
i have 3 DVDROM all cannot be use on my CPU, on other people, it works superbS
USB controller will restart upon inserting foreign/new device.
1 of the 2 ram expansion port have electrical leakage
every time formatting is done only because windows corrupted and not because i love it

by all means to say i do not know why it fails (my mums even nags me about it)
i know its faulty but i need it
i am a student
i took 1/2 hour to write this (a summary)
i used for a long hours weekdays or weekends

Define heavy user. However heavy you use your PC, it should not fail like every 6 month. Does having the PC running 24/7 in the office consider heavy usage? My PC is runnig 24/7. I do not turn it off. It is using come cheap clone ayam brand PSU.

Or you consider playing games on it 24/7 heavy usage which means hardware failure every 6 month? This is still unacceptable as products are designed to last as long as their MTBF (mean time between failure) running under normal condition. Hardware with running parts (like hdd or cpu fan) have lower MTBF but those like motherboards and memory should last a very long. Even so, HDDs are tested to be running 24/7 without problems.

Since you mention you did not overclock, products are run under normal circumstances, it should last very long. So, please do not mislead people giving them false impression that if they are "heavy users", they need to RMA parts every 6 month.

i dont think wrong impression can be given by my statement alone
its my experience

for example

i have 2 relatives who use same brand laptop, same specs

the 1st suffer on lcd screen broke (not because of physical damage) after 2 years, heavy gameplay, DVD chip fails.
the 2sd work just fine never had a problem. good gameplay

both have some computer skill and knowledge and OS
both laptop were use on daily basis

but one have bad experience and one have a good one
one recommended, one hate it..

i says mines fails in 6 month (i know its to0 snappy)
yours must be different..
