both are close to 3.0 ghz. which is better in OC? here is E8400 http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLAPL#and E7600 http://processorfinder.intel.com/Details.aspx?sSpec=SLGTDsince e8400 has a 9x multiplier. and e7600 has a 11.5x multiplier. im using 667 mhz ram. which limits me to 360CPU FSB. 360fsb on 9x = 3.2ghz 360fsb on 11.5=4.14ghz am i right or wrong? i dont think its that simple. pls help me in this This post has been edited by SexyKnn: Jan 18 2010, 01:01 PM

the e75 is easy to oc due to its high multi but clock to clock the e84 win due to the large cache.
which are better to oc?? i think the e8400 as it can reach 4ghz quite easily with low amount of voltage whereas the e7500 can do 4ghz but i think it need at least 1.4v to make it stable for 24/7 usage.

if u r using 667, yr max is until 333 FSB unless u clock up the RAM as well.. moderate OC in ram is still acceptable.. if cannot boot, try increase ram voltage if u wanna pass 333FSB..
E8400 FSB is already 333 if not mistaken while E7600 is 266.7Mhz
besides, if u r using E7600, u can also lower yr multipler if u wan.. like 333x10 or 11.. not necessary stick to 11.5..

So e8400 has 9 multi; with your current rams, you can get to 3.0Ghz WITHOUT overclocking your rams; which is also the default speed for e8400, so no overclocking involved here. From what I have read, e8400 can get to 4GHz fairly easier compared to e7 series. I am using e7400, and I need around 1.45v for 4GHz - I dont like to run 4Ghz for 24/7 because of the huge bump in vcore. I suggest you get the e8400 coupled with 1066 rams, then it will be easier to overclock the e8400 This post has been edited by tesla_rage: Jan 18 2010, 02:16 PM

QUOTE(SexyKnn @ Jan 18 2010, 02:27 PM) thts pricey there is no cheap stuff when it comes to OC.. depends how far/hardcore u want to stress ur cpu.. satisfaction guanranteed! or else just keep every thing to stock..

If you have doubts, keep your money, wait for a few months, upgrade to something that runs on DDR3. More future proof rather than spending money now. Just my thoughts.
