QUOTE(PcWork @ Jan 21 2010, 05:23 PM) design, performance, quality and price?? research?? development ?? design ? i say half copyresearch how to get max profit out of users? or research to develope the best looking highest end mosquito repelent? it is still OEM now. but sadly. after 3 years. they choosen worse quality OEM. lol.. profit come first eh.. improvement are keep in mind???? or mooooney? after this case. sonic gear is indeed NOTHING to me. lol lol just quote back several post of this from sonis gear fans club.. since compro is their representative as he claim. it seems very ironic to see what they wrote, and compare to the al'cheapo tweeter. lol. performance ? how to achieve with incomplete board? quality? good material? i don't think so price? its not very cheap also. competing with altec creative and edifier. research and development? i dont even see something special they came up with. even the Sonic Gear Armageddon A5 is also using "incomplete" board. claimed to have 75W RMS while the transformer only supply max 65VA and i doubt it has 100% efficiency. ![]() source no offense guys... but i'd rather have something complete. so no wonder they have high failure rate... |

^ the sonic gear speakers are also magnetically shielded. notice the ferrite rings bonded on them. higher end edifier like S550 also use those kind of shielding.

QUOTE(7Eleven @ Jan 25 2010, 10:03 PM) Bro Nismo91, thanks for the guide. no problem.. i also have some pictures of X300 and M3300 internal. in case you're interested i can share the link...What i discover fr M1310 PCB r: 1. Use TDA2030 fr Italy for the woofer (search result fr Google) 2. Use 2 UTC2030A (Fr Taiwan) for sat (search result fr google) 3. Use CBB from Panasonic or Tan capacitors, not like the SG use polyester film capacitors to save cost, The polyester film capacitors generate large noise, and easily be damaged. Users usually will not notice this, but the service people will get over payed on this. (My engineer friend told me) 4. Using NE4558 from Texas compare to SG's F4558 - domestic made. (search reult fr Google) Just wondering the the total RMS should be 18w + 2 x 14w= 46w, but Edifier just state their RMS is 30w only?? any brother can tell me this?? as for the rating of W RMS. don't forget that the spec paper list the power of op-amp based on a power rating. let say the op-amp "A" supply 80W RMS in 20V. but the transformer used only supplies 15V. so u know its not 80W right? plus the efficiency of the PCB itself. last but not least, the total output of a transformer also affect the power. like M3300 has a transformer that outputs max ~48W and its power rated at 10% THD is 41W RMS. if the test is conducted at 1% THD it would be even lower. also, some additional URL about edifier speakers gutted: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(7Eleven @ Jan 26 2010, 11:29 PM) Just took the photo of M1310 power pack and the Evo3's plastic sat cover. The material look like recycle plastic, very low quality compare to Edifier Sat. 1.2V x 2 ~ 1.25A means : 2 rails of 12V supplying 1.25A each. so total would be ~ 30W.Can anyone tell whether the M1310 power pack enough to drive the M1310's 28w rms? does it give any fake info? |

quite beefy for an ipod speaker i think. btw ADA885 still got more complex gut with its dual voicecoil sub and dual amp compartment, but i dare not open up mine since i tend to screw up.
still, you can enjoy the pic from someone's ADA885. |

use a dry, soft brush? btw now i put a 80mm 12V fan blowing to the side of the digital decoder which get warm on even idle. just blutack it to the side and my ADA885 has been much cooler than before. not sure if the inner amp is 'burning' already or not.
btw here is the image: ![]() This post has been edited by nismo91: Oct 11 2010, 09:31 PM |

QUOTE(cubicle @ Oct 12 2010, 09:07 AM) Will try by using a soft brush, a few ppl suggested me to do the same. Thanks a lot. yup, mine also quite hot when i place both in my room or outside below the dvd player (picture). that's why i thought a simple fan would help. haha thanks, i hate the plain empty looks, so there it goes... My sub is not that hot although i idle or play songs with it, yours is hot maybe because u in the space that is too small for air to circulate? And nice THX logo you stick on your sub. |

Altec Lansing ADA885. as mentioned above, quite complex, plenty of capacitors here there. dual amp, inside and outside the box, plus a DD decoder. dual voice-coil sub and one big toroidal transformer. slot port reflex design.
i think this will be the last of my collection, sold the R501 and VS4121 already. UPDATE: more pics here. Replaced heatsink and no more port chuffing sound. This post has been edited by nismo91: Feb 27 2011, 01:06 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(power911 @ Feb 14 2011, 02:26 PM) sonic gear armageddon a5 is okay tbh actually, if you take a close look, the PCB used in A5 is almost identical to the above-mentioned Eacan A600II. only some differents in components. but transformer and PCB are more-or-less identical.but the build quality sux badly so don't buy it check here have a look at the circuit board... wow... rip off QUOTE(7Eleven @ Feb 15 2011, 11:29 AM) nice find. i think same thing for A5 too. |

QUOTE(Tazerazer @ Mar 11 2011, 12:34 PM) When are you dismantling a Klipsch? i like klipsch also. there is one dismantle pic i posted here along with some other speakers like altec lansing. as you can see it uses cheapskate capacitors, but it has rather sophisticated motherboard and metal film capacitors (like bose companion). too much metal film caps are not a good thing either, i read earlier it is not always superior in terms of sound. beefy transformer as well.there is also pic of older vs new promedia 2.1 here in case you're interested. rather disappointing many things has gone. scroll up and there is picture of GMX 2.1 as well. what klipsch are you using? i wanted the ultra 5.1 but the size + stepdown transformer is too big for me. anyway, i think Divoom is based on Singapore. already mentioned about it few years back. anyhow copy design from different manufacturers, what a shame. Cambridge SoundWorks (Creative) Megaworks 550
i got this speaker from forumer as slightly spoilt set. popping and crackling every few seconds but everything else is fine. finally managed to repair it with the help of other forumer. turns out the glue has corroded and short some components. remove the glue and repair broken PCB track, everything is as good as new. this is the fault of Creative of spamming the glue everywhere including at the bottom of the PCB. first board on top (with 2 black heatsink and coils) is the switching power supply. the middle one is the BASH amplifier, also with 2 black heatsink.
