Wanna add something.
This money / sponsorship things become a problem because FAM been handle by political people. They afraid about people vote ( Malay will not vote you if you allow beer company to sponsor , PAS will use this as an issue etc )
. Football must be seen as business and handle by business people . One good example is Russia football handle by Chelsea owner Roman Abrahamovich
I am not totally agreed with your ideas. Yes, our football community needs more efficient business and marketing plans. But that doesn't necessarily means bringing in beer companies to invest in our football scene. My reasoning:This money / sponsorship things become a problem because FAM been handle by political people. They afraid about people vote ( Malay will not vote you if you allow beer company to sponsor , PAS will use this as an issue etc )
As things stand by now, huge majority of local football fans are Malays. Majority of the players are Malays (I'm not sure how can you overlook this fact). If local football clubs start to display all sorts of beer brands on their shirt, just imagine the uproar it will cause. Yes, in the long run, a lot of money will be generated. But that idea will not kick off very smoothly. You do know how sensitive such issue is to the Malays, do you not? Malay players will not even be willing to wear shirts with Carlsberg imprinted on them.
I'm sure many other companies from other industries will be interested to invest into our football scene, if the football scene itself have something in return to its sponsors. Football community needs to think about that. That's why more business minded people are needed in FAM and other State FAs. They are not required to bring in tobacco or beer companies. We need their brains.
