I have decided that I'm going to pursue a career in Law (doing my A-Levels this year first). That being it, I have narrowed down my college options to these two, Brickfields Asia College and Advanced Tertiary College. Is there anyone from these two colleges who can give me some advice on how is life there and all? And also opinions to which I should choose are welcomed.

Thanks.

Location is also one of the factors.
ATC = Jalan Petaling.
BAC = Around KL central.

Hey Dude,
If you've narrowed it down to these 2 colleges then its really simple.
Its only depending on 2 factors.
Type of llb degree you wanna do and the location.

1. Type of llb.
Its either the UK Transfer Degree of 2+1/1+2 or UOL 3+0 which is fully in malaysia.
If you want to do the UKT then you obviously know that Brickfields is the choice

BUT if you are deciding between BAC or ATC for UOL then you should consider it bases on the 2nd factor.
You see BAC and ATC has almost the same track record.
Last year the King's scholar was from BAC and this year its from ATC, the quality doesnt really make a difference.
Its the place you feel most comfortable it.
Check out both institutions and see which one you prefer.
As for the lecturers both colleges have a number of commendable lecturers and a few not up to par but at the end of the day reading a law degree really depends on the effort, time and energy you put into realising where your passion is..

All the best wink.gif

p/s : Do check out help for the UKT program too. The have a number of top-notch uni's in the uk which they affliate with. such as Manchester, Liverpool, Exeter, Leeds, Sheffield and so on..

BAC offers an alternate route to UOL external.

A very good example is,

If u fail your UOL external in BAC, and you planned to change to UKT , they will allow you to sit for examination (of course you need to pay) , if you pass that exam then you are still eligible to continue your journey.

Else, if you fail in ATC , they do not have the alternate route for you which you must resit paper again in next year together with your passed subject.

This is the rigidity of UOL External. They don't give compassion.

But what I think BAC is really like a family style of management whereby you can know all the persons in charge, you can even tap on their shoulder saying 'wassup bro' to the lecturers and even the principals are friendly to joke with you.

ATC is more like a typical company, students could not get a chance to really connect to the staffs etc. Furthermore there are rules to be complied such as you must attend the tutorials and lectures else if you do not attend for more than few times, they will give a call to your parents.
They treat you like a kid, of course its for your own good.

In the end, it depends on which style you like..for me, I prefer family style cos you can really feel the genuine interest from the staffs and lecturers.

Allow me to rebuke your statement on ATC being akin to a typical company.

Firstly, it is true that there are rules to abide by, but the requirement of attending tutorials and lectures are only for A level and Intermediate students. The reason being, it is within general consensus that Intermediate LLB for UOL serves as a screening process for students intending to pursue the degree. You will not be treated like "a kid" during Part 1 and Part 2...further it is not a hard and fast rule and the college will consider student's age, overall conduct etc in determining whether there is a need to call his/her parents....it's a last resort measure.

Further, ATC lecturers are just as approachable as any BAC lecturer. And considering that there are more lecturers, it would actually be easier to contact any one of them at any given point of time. When I was a student, I'd waltz into their rooms whenever they were around at ATC KL. A few of them may be intimidating, but I have never had the problem of connecting with any of them...and the junior lecturers are constantly bombarded with calls from students anyway!

If you have had any personal experiences regarding the lack of opportunity to contact or meet with a lecturer, pm me.

This Year Kings scholarship is actually granted to PTPL College, Penang to a girl called Khor Ching Yee she scored the 2nd highest in the UoL LLB history.
She rejected the offer nonetheless. For verification, just call up PTPL and you will get to know.
Besides, i am surprised that, UoL doesnt even take the effort to convince her to accept it.

It is even more interesting how Kings all of sudden now dropped into ATC's hand to Joey Teh as he marks is make unknown to us?
The truth is, she is still not the best student in the world for inter LLB in UoL. Official announcement has not been made by UoL anyway.

Professor Wayne Morrisson has gone out of the board and now we can see this kind of thing happened. Last year, Ng Kar Kay didnt apply for Kings however she scored the highest. He feels its not fair to award the scholarship to others when she top the list. Therefore, Ng Kar Kay still officially becamethe Kings Scholar even she rejected. I think this year, UoL should have done the same as what Prof. Morrisson did.

OUT OF TOPIC: I was wondering why those students rejected the offer to continue their 2nd year in King's College? Wasn't that a good university?

Hehehe, i know its out of topic...hehehe....Apologies.....
Indeed a good university, but perhaps they are not mentally prepared when they received a call from UoL. or they just cannot leave their home?
If i were them, a definitely YES from me...hehehe, well, too bad? Moreover, its a scholarship !

Since my previous post is a out of topic, honestly, these two colleges are well equipped with good lecturers i believe. Realistically, not all of them are good.
However, ATC has quite a good result in their 2nd year from the last batch. Whereas, i really dont know how BAC did though i am BAC students? In my opinion, one thing for sure, you can never missed Law of Trust in BAC !

Both are good. Decide it yourself and try attending some lectures before you take your stand. You may like ATC style instead of BAC style?
