Good to see more and more people here. Let's keep the momentum going. We are the minority breed of Chinese who are not chinese educated and have not gotten the chance to explore much in chinese musical instruments.
With the few humble people here.... may it snowball into something bigger soon. |

to be fair....phone tuners are not as accurate as a dedicated tuner....but it gets the job done if you are not a fussy person

i Hope to be able to meet all of you. I am now embarking on a DIHU.... which is a big ERHU that is 1 octave below. I have yet to receive the DIHU.... as the seller in China is unable to meet the orders on time.
It will around Christmas for the DIHU to arrive.By the way... I have never seen a DIHU in Malaysia. Zhonghu is also rarely seen...what more a DIHU? |

KCleong. DIHU is more like a Cello range....lower than Zhonghu...(which is a Viola range).
The Double Bass in the Erhu family is called DADIHU....which is so big ... you cant put it on your lap. It is placed on the floor. I guess they have to find an anaconda to have such a big skin to place over the DADIHU. A DIHU is about 4 times bigger than a normal Erhu. This is one I bought... and still can be played on my lap like an Erhu...albeit a lot heavier and your fingers will need longer stretch to play the notes. |

It's physics. Cant expect an Erhu dimension to sound like Dihu....and vice versa. HAha
There are 3 different DIHU's. Large....Medium and Small....which pertain to the size of the resonating box. Large will give a lot of bass....low mid and less highs. Medium will give more mids...lesser bass and more highs. Small will give more highs...more mids and less bass. I opted for the Large model....which I suspect is not a solo instrument ... but more of a supporting role in an Ensemble due to the amount of bass it produces. |

Faceless...wow...you should be a movie director! LOL!
My DIHU is merely for fun. I may play a few slow sentimental Songs on stage with it...and treat it as a Cello sounding instrument. That's all. |

BEar in mind ... due to the shorter scale length ... you will need to tune the entire GZ in G key. D key is possible...but it will sound bad...cos not enough tension due to the shortscale length.

QUOTE(Mitsuki @ Jun 15 2023, 02:40 PM) Hi experts in this thread! There was 1 pretty girl who is an advanced Guzheng player living in Subang. Dont know where she is now.I am very much interested in learning guzheng here. I live in Subang Jaya so if possible can recommend me a teacher nearby. I do have base Grade 8 in piano but that was a longgggg time ago. Planning to get a guzheng as well as soon as I can get a teacher too. Banana here... totally can't read or write chinese but able to converse a little mandarin. Oh and I'm already in my 40s la but still itchy want to pickup another instrument hehe since I finally got more free time to do so. |

QUOTE(Mitsuki @ Jun 16 2023, 01:49 AM) Oh dear.... feels as if Guzheng teachers are so rare these day still. Found a music school in Subang with Guzheng lessons but i was kinda stunned with the fees. RM200 4 lessons 30 mins per lesson and for fun learning (no exam) only and RM260 4 lessons 30 minutes per session for graded and both beginner price. Is that the standard fee these days? This is normal la, buddy! |
