Don't be too sure cause you say x86 haha it is all on the OS why I say this is even I give you a x86 with say a lousy OS it is still louzy haha say DOS hahaha
also look at ipad OS3 OS is quite prooven on iPhone and iPod touch where it is easy to develop apps and I believe it is the application that do the work not the OS
this is because the OS by it self is nothing just a platform...
So it is not fair to judge the ipad on it's performance and flexibility as apps will in the end support the OS.
Also once again looking at the success of iPhone I believe there gonna be alot of apps to handle daily task or even work. If you still say touch screen keyboard sux well there is a keyboard dock hehehe so what say you
when it comes to productivity suite, mobile device as in iPad, iPhone or even Blackberry cannot fully displace the purpose of an x86 based machine. That's why I don't understand when you said something like "With an iPad, there is no reason to use netbooks at all."
and, iPhone OS platform is not built for productivity oriented, Apple is unable to compete in this market which is already dominated by Blackberry, WinMo or even S60.

If I need to work in a remote location, a netbook won't even hack it for the work that I need to do. If I need something that runs a full fledged OS as well as easy mobility, I'll be carrying something like a 13' MBP or the MBA, instead of a netbook.
you are right in some sense, what I meant was that iPad can't replace the purpose of x86 computers, the price of a 13" MBP is at least thrice of a netbook, so its unfair to compare the performance between the two
