im using msoft security esential rite now. its free and performs well so far. minimal false detection and it eats most of the virus that my previous Avira and Nod32 cant detect. highly recommended.

Dude, that is not a legitimate anti virus.

Read this article:

http://www.spywared.com/news/remove-anti-v...ctions-292.html

Remove it with the revo uninstaller ASAP and scan your pc with other free antivirus software.

Dont know bout you guys. But for me free solution is as good as or most of the time better than paid solution. Here is a nice free combo:

Package 1:

AV : Comodo
Firewall: Comodo
Browser add on : Firefox WOT and AVG linkscanner +Firefox built in protection or IE safesearch.
On Demand : Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro

Package 2:

AV : Avira
AV (0 hour protection) :threatfire
Firewall :Windows Firewall (For Windows Vista and Above, XP firewall sucks).
Browser add on :Firefox WOT and AVG linkscanner +Firefox built in protection or IE safesearch.
On Demand : malwarebytes and Hitman Pro

comodo internet security, without the antivirus function [custom during install]
well, just get ready to answer lots of popups when you're installing/uninstalling/running applications tho...although you can set to "remember" the settings afterward

What is your setting?

For the first time after installing, it is normal to have this kind of situation.
