QUOTE(celciuz @ Jan 2 2010, 12:17 PM) My wish list for 2010 is definitely the new sexy 70-200 if u dont mind the VR, u could consider 80-200 f2.8 nikkor which cost alot cheaper |

QUOTE(hanzxp @ Jan 5 2010, 03:38 PM) hi, in my opinion D40/D40x/D60/D3000/D5000 is a very good DSLR. although it is called entry-level DSLR but i do not agree that it is for beginners. There is nothing you cannot do with the entry level camera (unless you are talking about HDR and some advance features in the higher end DSLR). I have been using D40 for almost 2 years now, it is still my favorite DSLR although i also own a D90. Although D40/D40x/D60/D3000/D5000 is lacking of the built-in motor, but that is what makes it lighter! If you got the budget, keep this camera where you can still use this as spare unit, buy the mid/higher end DSLR once you are familiar with all the functions in D3000. That is just my opinion. if you want to sell it, u can post it in the Garage Sales or i know many people post in the Free Trade Zone site. agree with u I give up my baby d40 too because i need the money to upgrades and i missing it so much and it is the best SLR for traveling to me because of the light weight and the small size to carry around. Looks real good and comfortable on my girlfriend neck. Selling my 18-55 mm and 85mmf1.8 Any recommendation on what should i buy ?? i m into portrait and event considering 17-50mm 2.8 VC idea idea pls |

QUOTE(thahirah @ Jan 5 2010, 06:22 PM) guys i wanna ask go for it, if u cant stick to the manual focusingthinking of getting myself a 50mm f1.8 AF-D for my nikon bokeh, potrait and stuff second hand for RM 300 isit hard to manual focus using this lens? pls feel free to sell it to me anytime with maybe a rm20 discount its a very cheap lens for an amazing experience Added on January 5, 2010, 8:25 pm QUOTE(illegaldragon87 @ Jan 5 2010, 08:05 PM) wat is ur budget n how many lenses u plan to get... so itz easier for suggestion... why u wanna get so many lens when u cant get the most out of it. Of course something close to my budget and what i need somewhere around 24mm to 70mm would be ok on my target for the time. AF-D 50 mm f1.4 (portrait event , wedding) AF-D 50 mm f1.8 ( portrait ,wedding , event ) Tamron 17-50 f2.8 VC ( portrait , lanscape , low light event , wedding , wide angle) Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 ( portrait, landscape , low light event , wedding) very tight and not suitable for group shoot Tamron 90 mm f2.8 macro (for macro , portrait only) i dont need long zooms to shoot birds ok. Portraiture budget around rm2000 17-50mm in the top list as it work as a 26mm-78mm on a dx format SLR pls throw ideas in No crazy lens talk, everyone knows 70-200 f2.8 VR2 is the best but i cant afford it yet This post has been edited by maxh3h3: Jan 5 2010, 08:31 PM |

QUOTE(illegaldragon87 @ Jan 5 2010, 09:05 PM) of coz itz important to state out ur budget n the number of lens... since u r selling both prime n kit lens... n ur target is totally different categories... if u really wanted the lens for wedding/ event, definitely prime lens is not enough for u... so, jus get a zoom lens (17-50mm for my choice) and prime lens ( 50mm f1.8 regarding of ur budget, or mayb f1.4 if u increase ur budget a lil bit)... 90mm is a great lens for portrait but u jus sell ur 85mm, so not really a good choice since u wanna try something new... jus my opinion though... 17-50 mm f2.8 VC with 50mmf.14 in pairs would be great for me tamron 90 mm is different from my 85 mm, my nikkor 85 have to be in a distance away for closest shots but 90 mm macro, u could go nearer. using 85 mm on a dx = 120++ mm if i m not mistaken. Perfect as a portrait len and as i said before , it only stand alone as a portrait len Added on January 5, 2010, 9:24 pm QUOTE(jasonkidd_87 @ Jan 5 2010, 09:07 PM) Guys, anyone has idea on the location of Nikon Service Centre? QUOTE(dvlzplayground @ Jan 5 2010, 09:59 PM) what to do.. not the photographer's fault haha 55-200mm with f5.6 at zoom range is not suitable in not so good in indoors. Only solution if u wanna zoom in indoors is 70-200 2.8 and 80-200 2.8.anyway juz now i didnt mean expensive lenses like the 70-200m f2.8 n such... juz someting like 55-200mm or so. sure aperture at tele is 5.6 but okay what for outdoors. my point is we cant get close enough all the time in a wedding,..sometimes got two 'decisive moment opportunities' but very far apart, sometimes too much people n hard to get near... so a tele lens would help juz my 2 cents Well i guess a photographer have the green light to move freely without disturbing people with their flashes. |

QUOTE(dvlzplayground @ Jan 7 2010, 01:04 AM) thx. is 105mm enough for like going to bird parks etc? nvr play with 105mm lens before, but ive played with a canon 200mm lens n feels more that enough 4 me lah 18-105 is the cheapest all rounder with VR if i m not mistaken. for a zoom len, VR is very important so u can forget about the 18-200 tamron without VC.anymore suggestions? U could also consider Sigma 18-200 with the OS for a price cheaper than the nikkor. 55-200 VR is cheaper and not bad if u can switch lens fast and in the right way. It really depends on you alone. 18-55 kit len already one of the best nikon kit len ever. I suggest u to get a 55-200 VR secondhand at a cheaper market price and play with it first. If u cant stick to it, then u may sell it away maybe at the same market price for a secondhand and move to the next level. nothing to lose right? cheers |

QUOTE(victor87 @ Jan 8 2010, 06:40 PM) Hehe... Yup yup.. D90 is in my mind now... d90 is of course better than d5000 only because of a few specs , Yup yup... I'm looking into "long-relationship" with the DSLR... so i won't be changing every few month or what la.. or maybe until my DSLR really kaput d then only upgrade... So in conclusion the D90 is better huh? build in focusing motors high reso LCD Better grip for big hands (body is bigger) Top mono LCD for settings compare to d5000, nikon d90 got more value in secondhand market so if u happen to quit or upgrades, u can sell it in a good price as alot of d40/60/3000/5000 that wanna upgrade with a small amount. U dont have to buy a DSLR just like buying cloths actually, i know gals buy alot of cloths and left it hanging in the closet without even wearing them once. Try tell us what kind of photography u like the most example: Landscape , flowers , insects , portraits , events , sports u dont have to finish all your rm 4 k for something that people say its good but u have no idea If any of my real life fren asking me the question u asked, i would say pick up a beginner secondhand DSLR which u can get alot cheaper than a new 1 and play with it because u have no idea how far u would go in photography. Upgrades is a sure thing if u go deeper into it haven't talk about the amount of money u wold spend to get a lens that produce the most beautiful photos is magazine that u can only dream about shooting. Yes all of that is possible with some cash and credit card in your wallet. QUOTE(dvlzplayground @ Jan 8 2010, 11:54 PM) actually juz now i was referring to the AF-S 50mm, since the person asking is using D40 hehe Sigma have the most expensive 50mm in the market, i m just surprise when u say consider the cheaper sigma i think the 50mm lens is famous for a long time already? from what i read lah guys, can anyone comment on the SB400? u almost got me so happy hehe, shansinki still selling at rm 2200++ sb400 is so useless, if u plan not to spend alot, go for the nissin di466 which cost like rm350 -450 secondhand. If u dont play CLS, just use it to fill flash or bounce flash to create a more natural lighting. sb400 is so rubbish , it make a SLR user looks like a point & shoot user This post has been edited by maxh3h3: Jan 9 2010, 12:33 AM |
