Wat a rip-off.. milkin us fans dry..

I say boycott de LOTR trlgy Theatrical Cut ..

How can de marketing boys justify bringin out in HD an inferior version jus for de sole reason of making a quik buck..

Wil live wif SD first..
D
*
Yeah, that's right... but I don't think the theatrical versions were inferior (if you meant technically), except it is not the prefered version by most especially fans. The marketing boys should give a special voucher/coupon/price cut for theatrical version owners who wish to upgrade to extended version later (but don't know how it would apply to international customers though). I bet most die-hard fans can't wait for 2012 for the EE.... it's just too darn long to wait.... but I will biggrin.gif

Anyway, just now when I arrived home, I received that parcel lo. (Maybe God heard my pray  whistling.gif )

Today, I have received 2 parcels out of 5 parcels.  Not bad.  For this parcel, our uncle postman deliver to my billing address instead of delivery address.  yawn.gif

No la, because the Amazon folded invoice is quite small and box is bigger, so the invoice in the box will move around if you shake it.  Maybe when postman look at the address, he can only read the billing address instead of delivery address.  laugh.gif

r u sure dey read the inside invoice? dats weird... i tot the address on the box is huge & clear hmm.gif maybe your delivery address has no postcode?

one question to all... why do they need 4k/8k res when eventually downscale to 1080p? do they want to make the footage future-proof? because to master to those xtra res wont come cheap right? am just curious... hmm.gif

The resolution of the analogue 35mm film equals to more or less 4k in digital pixels. Scanning at this resolution should minimize the loss of details. And yes, at the same time you'll have a master ready for future technology.

A 70mm film can be scanned up to 8k digital resolution, this was done with Baraka. The result is nothing but spectacular.
*
thanks bro for the info. so, in other words... a 4k res (or higher) master gonna be extremely good on blu-ray I bet. but, why don't other movies/studios do this technique too for all blu-rays? Making it like a standard that studios must follow... because if they all do, there wont be any transfer/PQ issue on blu-rays, right? (With the exception of creative approaches/techniques). I bet this whole thing still boils down to money... whether studio willing to spend certain amount of dough on certain types of movies if they want to do this, etc etc... hmm.gif

I just watched A Scanner Darkly on BD as well. I liked the film but it does have its flaws (pacing issues and lack of development on the major themes). Dialogue levels are bad making it hard to make out what is being said without subtitles. Extras are so-so. : /

Unless you're a fan of the film, you may want to watch it first.

PQ - great
AQ - not. and if you are a lossless freak, keep away

That is not Amazon's fault.  That question need our uncle postman to answer.  My parcels almost always took longer from KL to Kuching than from US to KL.  Maybe Kuching is very very far from KL.  US must be very very near to the KL. whistling.gif
