hello...i would like to ask, does rabbit's male testicles are suppose to be visible? because yesterday i noticed when my rabbit was running around there're two hanging things below his tail which seems to look like his testicles. it's pink and about 2 cm long. please advice. thank you biggrin.gif
*
testis in mammals are created to be outside the body so that the temperature is slightly below the body temperature which is optimum for sperm production...so the answer is yes unless it's a neutered male

i guess i should feed my rabbit hay coz it is the healthy choice but i dunno he will eat it or not.

he used to like the pallets (rm6 one big packet) nowadays he eats kangkung, apple, longbeans, french beans, cabbage and sawi.

he will go crazy for jacobs biscuits and rusk biscuits.

when try to give him more healthy food he will dulan and bite paper.
*
if u are free then u try doing this experiment...u take the jacob biscuit and burn over a candle until it completely burn into dust...u can see the oil dripping from the biscuit as it burns finish..wear gloves ya if not the oil will splat to ur skin...i did in my form 3 experiment...

Hey you need a psychiatrist? Seems like you have some mental illness there. I know you're joking there, but if that's what your brain is thinking to do right now, you need some professional help.
*
nahhhhhh he just lack of attention....he's rabbit breed is somewhat-butterfly i'm sure it will spread out it wings and fly when it's in the air...lets us not give him what he intend to get from us *wink

responsible rabbit owners will know how to think for themselves and also for their beloved pets so they will know what's right and wrong..u wont get infected by some mini parasite when u got so strong defence against it..therefore we should strenghten our knowledge and spread the good good always triumph over evil

human and animals dont share most of the virus strains...might cause death to human but totally fine to animals vice versa...even though there are some transmitable diseases from animals to human and human to animals such as SARS,rabies,H1N1...

chicken pox is by Varicella zoster virus a type of herpes virus...want to know further just look up on internet

each rabbit have their own personality...so it's the owner's job to understand the rabbit and learn to live with their ways and also the rabbit will also learn to get to know u as well...they are smart creatures..that's why it is important to bond with our pets

I like Mocha a lot. Even I let him roam at my garden, he doesn't run from me like Cici. He also come to me when I call him. Just few days with him, I already put my heart to him unlike Cici. He is very different. Hard to explain. I like to touch him, sayang him and look at him. Cham lor, when he back to my colleague, how am i going love Cici? i already ignore Cici and just play with Mocha. Not that I'm berat sebelah, just that Mocha is so different. He just like a dog.

Dont think the food/product influence them, I believe is the breed itself.

this is call plucking..this method efficiently remove molted hair from fluffy rabbits...need to groom them everyday during molting season when they shed their hair and grow new ones...this is to reduce hairball ingestion when they groom themselves coz rabbits cannot digest non vegetable proteins since they are strictly vegetarian
give lots and lots of timothy hay during molting season to increase fiber in their daily food

thanks on her behalf...her name is Hyorin...means ice forest in japanese..now she's all grown up and her fur is quite consistent..there was once where she was shedding her fur changing to adult fur...and my house was like filled with her fur everywhere

a jersey wooly?
*
nope..her fur on her back is different it's shorter and not cotton texture like the fur on her skirt and her ears dont have the long fur like anggora...she's a mix breed but resemble more of a lion head rabbit with a mane and skirting.
jersey wooly i saw at the vet that day has long straight hair all over...

QUOTE(Eli @ Nov 7 2010, 11:29 PM)
Nearly had a heart attack over the weekend. Hector didn't touch his dinner on friday, I was in panic mode. Plus it was the hols and all the vets were close. Stayed up with him till 4am monitoring and petting him. Never seen him so demure, he just sat in his tunnel quietly. I really tot I was going to lose him- a rabbit that stops eating and pooing is dangerous. When he started eating and pooing on saturday, I was so happy I nearly cried. He is better today. Back to being greedy and hyperactive! Phew, that was a close one. I've upped his vitamin dose and stopped fresh veggie. Am going to monitor his diet for a week before I move back to anything fresh.

Just wanted to know how the rest of u handle emergency issues like this when it happens late at night and u can't get to a vet? Are there any DIY emergency treatment I can perform to help him while waiting for the vet to open? I know animal medical centre on jln tun razak is good for emergencies but even they are not 24/7.
*
last time my hyorin also didnt eat n poo for 3 days...=( then i got to know sangterap he help me step by step...she's doing great from that day on...thanks again bro i remember that lesson for life...

now if i go to the pet shop i try to get the 'oxbow critical care' for stand by..i buy from PLC...the expiry date is not long but it's just a little cost to pay for a safety think of as something like first aid treatments we have for humans...we dont need it but it's just for emergency...last time my frens rabbit fell sick i took my packet and gave to him...it does come in handy

from what i understand- breeders tend not to sell females cos they are breeding "stock". you only need 1 male to impregnate 5 females but it doesnt work the other way around. that's why even if you can get a female bunny, its going to cost much much more than a male. ya, i know beh doesnt sell his female rabbits. so far the only breeder i know that will part with his females is sangterap but as sangterap does very very small scale breeding, its really hard to get a rabbit from him (heard the waiting list is super duper long!). plus sangterap has a strict evaluation process, i dont think i can pass, i'm still very much "budak baru belajar"  blush.gif hahaha!

i'm also worried about bonding. cant simply campak a female rabbit to hector and hope for the best. need to see if they get along first before even considering buying. also must neuter hector first. then have to go thru the long and frustrating bonding process with no guarantees of success. not easy job lor  sweat.gif. if they dont get along i might have to set up 2 separate play pens which will mean i will be moving to sleep in the kitchen  tongue.gif  pengsan! hahaha!

hector fat lor! the boy is not just fur! he eats so much its amazing. part my fault as well, hard to say no to a rabbit who is begging for food. bad mommy!
*
yea sangterap pick his bunny owner...if me i would also do the same thing...coz i dont want my animals to go into wrong hands..i'm sure u will pass his evaluation you're a great bunny owner...

yup bonding is not easy...depend on the rabbit character...later got new rabbit he jealous pulak even worse..hahaha...but he might be happy to get a friend..neutering think sangterap can give a good vet reccomendation

i luv the fat fat hector he's so cute...keep him chubby

how did sangterap help you deal with hyorin? do share, we can all use some guidance on how to handles emergencies like this biggrin.gif . gosh, i was so worried that night i started googling like crazy, the more i read online, the more worried i became. i actually woke up every hour to check up on him.  cry.gif

my fella is the jealous sort! it's ok if he ignores me, but sekali i ignore him when i have guests around- merajuk big time  doh.gif  hahahahahah!

think i'll do an experiment....i'll bring another rabbit to my apartment and see how hector handles that..... hmm.gif
*
i certainly learn a lot from him but i think my situation is different from hector's coz mine was probably due to stress because i took her back to home town during my semester break and then back again...or it could be due to the commercial bunny food i gave her and inadequate grooming since she has long hair and i didnt give much hay which lead to hairball indigestion..i was very naive back then...i shared this story few times b4 if i'm not mistaken...her first signs were not eating much then eventually stop eating and pooping...then could hear her grinding her teeth due to tummy ache...and her tummy was bloated..
i called my fren crazymouse_yyh(Hun) for help and she introduce me to Sangterap so he told me what to do...and i believe that critical care play a major part in helping her get better...i had to feed her every 2-3 hours by syringe first day and gave medication for her bloated tummy.. then eventually she poop and could eat on her own and fed her pure hay then slowly intro pellets and then fresh greens back to her diet...you dont know how i happy i was to see poop hahahahaha...
lesson learnt and totally change me after that heart attack incident

You know the big pet shop at taman megah, the one next to the pasar malam and futsal court? If you go upstairs to where they sell cages you can find the mat there, it's blue in colour, very thick plastic. It wouldn't 100 percent fit the cage but it's sufficient. Alternatively, u can try hardware shops, look for the plastic mats they use in public toilets. It has round holes for poop to go thru. Pro- it can be cut to perfectly fit the cage, con- it's thin, rabbits tend to bite it and it tears apart.
*
it's call kennel board if i'm not mistaken...i seen some come in pink too..most of the time they use in dog kennel..i prefer to use the non slip toilet mat..it's cheaper and u can cut according to size...i bought a good larger holes in MR DIY...but to those rabbits who chew the mat better dont use this it may be harmful to the rabbit...the kennel board i seen some forumers selling as well when i was browsing through

i read b4 that some bacteria from the rabbit poo or sumtin will harm the cavy...that's why i didnt get a gp....i dunno how true is the fact but it's better to take precaution.Still some debate here and there...
